We were heavily influenced by the nearby Dayton/Cincinnati scene, arguably the world capital of funk. Midnight Star, Zapp, Ohio Players, and Slave were big, but hip hop was exciting, and we were the only people to play it on local stations. Think Kool Moe Dee, LL, Tribe, Ice Cube, and BDP, throw in some New Jack Swing, and of course add a 60-minute Quiet Storm at the end.
