The name Funktastic is more than a genre of music - it’s a tight-knit family of stellar talent with a finely and meticulously curated repertoire spanning every style of music. 6-15 Piece Bands, Live DJ Hybrids, Photo Booths, and more, Funktastic is reserved for those who have a refined musical taste and need for having the best night of their lives. A collection of Chicago's finest black voices, musical authenticity comes from within the music. Musical authenticity comes from what's within the music. By tributing legendary artists with inclusion and diversity, we help preserve the African-American art form of Motown, Hiphop, Pop, and more!

Our band and DJ bring a high energy experience to each event, providing the highest level of quality musicianship with our award-winning services. We've got your back the whole way through with our custom IOS and Android music app that makes planning feel like it's 2023. Our in-house add ons like dance floor uplighting, Photobooths, Strings, elevated Stages, and more will check off the "wow" factor for your wedding, corporate event, or private party.

We really liked working with funktastic. They handled the ceremony musicians, jazz trio for cocktail hour, and DJ with a live sax for dancing. We added an extra string player for the ceremony too. It was great having one company handle all of it and it all sounded great. The piano and strings during our ceremony were wonderful and they learned our requested songs to walk down the aisle to. The jazz trio added such a fun ambiance to cocktail hour. Lastly, our space was small so we knew we couldn’t fit a live band for dancing but the sax was so much fun and so many guests told us how cool it was. Also we mainly worked with Aaron for the DJ/sound and he was great. Our only complaint is the app they talk about using is glitchy and not great which also made communication through the app bad but Aaron gave us his personal number and just let us send him some Spotify playlists for various guides like dinner music vs dancing musts, which was easy. We cannot recommend them enough. The ease of one company handling all of this was so nice. Also it was all reasonably priced and all in more affordable than a band would have been.

We hired Funktastic for our July 12th wedding and we cannot say enough good things about them. They were absolutely amazing! Amber was a pleasure to work with and from the moment they started playing, they brought a vibrant energy to the room. They were soulful, upbeat and matched the tone of the event perfectly. So many of our guests came up to us throughout the evening (and even after!) to rave about how great the band sounded. They truly added something special to our celebration and helped make it unforgettable. If you're looking for a fun, soulful, talented, and high-energy group to bring your wedding or event to life, look no further. We’re so grateful we found them and that they made our night a blast!

Funktastic was absolutely incredible and one of the biggest highlights of our wedding—for both us and so many of our guests. We had the jazz trio for cocktails, a rotating quartet during dinner, and the full 8-piece band for dancing, and every single musician was insanely talented. Amber, the MC, was a dream to work with—so organized and professional, and she has the voice of an angel. The band was also super flexible throughout the night. One of our favorite moments was when the horn section led a second line to transition guests from the ballroom to the pergola—it was so fun and unforgettable! We’d hire them again in a heartbeat.

YES! We learn up to 7 custom song requests ....and it's one of our favorite parts! We love to expand our repertoire and challenge our musicality.

YES! We can provide music and full sound for your ceremony as well as smaller trios or quartets for your cocktail hour and dinner. All our packages include DJ playlist during cocktail and dinner periods if the band is not playing.

Every package includes two huge racks of stage lighting that light up the dance floor and set the party mood. We also offer additional dance floor uplighting for those interested! We do not offer photo booths at this time.

We typically set up 4 hours prior to our start time to ensure ample time to set up, adjust, and make sure the sound is perfect for your space!

YES! We have a really cool way for you to individually pick out MUST PLAY songs, MAYBE songs, and DO NOT PLAY songs in a Google Sheets format, so you and your fiance can send and collaborate with friends, family, and our team.
