How much do wedding & reception venues cost?

The cost of wedding venues varies, with factors influencing cost including size, location, guest count, and, most importantly, whether things like catering and rentals are included. The more a reception venue near you includes, the higher the cost. When considering venues, try to compare prices apples-to-apples. If one venue includes catering and rentals in their pricing and the other doesn’t, you need to figure out how much additional cost those outside vendors would be to make a true comparison. Before booking, be sure you’re aware of additional costs outlined in your contract, like parking fees and weather-related considerations (adding a tent, etc.).

What questions should we ask wedding venues?

When talking with a potential venue, always ask about 1) their availability and 2) their capacity. Some popular venues book up peak season Saturdays nearly 2 years in advance—if your first choice date isn’t available, consider your flexibility on day of the week and year. While maximum capacity is non-negotiable, venues might have guidance on what guest count will be most comfortable. Also, you’ll want to understand what is and is not included in the venue’s fees. Some include catering, tables and chairs, and linens, while others offer just the raw space. These venues are often less expensive because you are only paying for the space itself, and you’ll have to bring in outside vendors

Every single detail was executed perfectly. Every interaction was professional, timely, and warm. For the whole year leading up to our wedding, we felt incredibly supported and cared for. I had so many questions, and the Willowdale team was so prompt, helpful, and kind in their responses. As for the actual wedding, it was a total dream. The food is actually the best food ever... wedding food or not. It's been two months and everyone is still talking about it. The space is GORGEOUS and feels intimate and special while still accommodating larger weddings. Our coordinator, Julia, and the team worked with the florist and all the decor we dropped off ahead of time to execute the design and vision better than I could ever dream up. “We got married in October 2025 at Deity Events in downtown Brooklyn, and our experience was nothing short of magical. From the very first moment we toured the space in spring 2024, we knew it was the one. The venue is stunning — modern yet warm, with gorgeous architectural details and an effortlessly chic vibe that feels both elevated and welcoming. Deity is truly a dream for couples planning a wedding in NYC. They host weddings from 50 to 150 guests, and we chose their 50-person micro wedding package. Their pricing is transparent and incredibly reasonable for NYC — packages range from 12K–18K, and we added their breathtaking bridal suite for an additional 3,000, which was worth every penny. The suite is spectacular: two bathrooms, a shower, a full kitchen, a balcony, incredible photography space, a huge sleigh bed, a stunning tub, luxe velvet and leather furniture, exposed brick, and access to a rooftop with a hot tub and cold plunge. It made our wedding morning feel like a luxury retreat and gave us the most beautiful getting-ready photos. What really sets Deity apart is that they are fully all-inclusive and tip-free, which made planning so much less stressful. They handled coat check, bartenders, staffing, a day-of coordinator, DJ/MC, room transitions between floors, passed appetizers, a excellent, generous family style seated dinner, and a full bar with fantastic food and drinks. They also offer beautiful decor basics including a gorgeous hexagon arch, candles, mirrors, table numbers, linens, chairs, and all flatware. This allowed us to personalize the day with our own invites, florals, attire, officiant, dessert, and additional vendors without feeling overwhelmed. Our coordinator was absolutely phenomenal — calm, organized, and truly invested in making our day perfect. The owner, Caio, was lovely, warm, and incredibly professional throughout the entire process. We had several planning meetings, a detailed walk-through, and many email exchanges, and we always felt supported and at ease. We also loved the group tasting experience they offered with other couples getting married that month — it was such a thoughtful and fun touch. All in, we were able to have our entire wedding in downtown Brooklyn for around 35K — about 20K to the venue and 15K for extras — which felt like an incredible value for the level of service, quality, and beauty we received. Location-wise, Deity is unbeatable. Being so close to Barclays Center meant there were at least seven hotels within a seven-minute walk, making it super convenient for our out-of-town guests. The flexibility to bring in our own vendors (outside of food and alcohol) made the entire process smooth, creative, and joyful. Truly, the whole experience was seamless from start to finish. I would choose Deity Events a thousand times over and can only highly recommend for other couples to choose Deity so they can have an equally incredible experience.”

The staff at this venue, from our day-of coordinator (shout out to Ellen) down to the waitstaff, know exactly what they're doing and how to make a wedding run smoothly. Ellen was a rockstar throughout the entire planning process - communicative, responsive, and professional, and helped the day run seamlessly even when things got a bit chaotic. “We could not have been happier with our decision to get married at Walden! On top of their professionalism, they were so down-to-earth and fun to work with, bringing energy and laughter to every planning session and making the entire experience even more memorable. One of the highlights was the collaborative online planning tool we had access to as part of booking Walden. It kept everything organized in one place, allowing us to easily stay in touch with our planners, track tasks, and manage finances and contracts. The entire wedding party and all the family members who were there the entire day of the wedding had nothing but amazing things to say too...they were all shocked at how much support we had throughout the entire day to the point where we did not have to lift a finger. And don't even get us started on the food and bar...we've never been complimented more in our lives. We were shocked at how insanely good the food and drinks were at our tasting party months before the wedding, but we were curious if it would live up to the hype on our actual wedding day where we had 216 guests. It might've been even better on our wedding day! Guests were raving about our food and drinks. We were told by nearly every guest that it was the best food they've ever had at a wedding, bar none. We even had sober people come up to us and go on and on about how amazing even the mocktails were. The only thing we regret is being too excited and not having enough of an appetite to truly enjoy dinner as the bride and groom. But even so, our planning team made sure the servers packaged up our entrees so we could take them home a few days later when we came back to the venue to pick up our belongings. Honestly, there are a million other reasons why we'd recommend Walden for your wedding venue, but this is already getting to be too long of a review. Basically, if you’re looking for an all-inclusive venue where you’re genuinely taken care of every step of the way, we cannot recommend Walden highly enough! “We hosted our wedding at Olio in early August and simply had the best experience. From the moment we met Sarah on our tour, I felt like we were in good hands with the space and every single person who worked there and/or was associated with it. The building felt both modern and historic, and we loved the surprise of the lofted ceilings and twinkling lights once we stepped up the stairs. Olio was an great size for our 90 person event, and Sarah (and her team at Without a Hitch) helped us plan exactly the wedding we wanted, which included large rented palm trees, arcade games, a Richie's Slush cart with umbrella, even a surprise visit from Santa Claus...at Olio it all worked out. Folks say it a lot, but it was truly a blank canvas and our Olio wedding was perfectly personalized for us. Founded in 1814, The West Boylston Company was a large textile manufacturer in West Boylston, MA. At the turn of the century the company faced a crisis: the site of their mill would be flooded to form the Wachusett Reservoir. Instead of abandoning the mill, the company dismantled it brick by brick and shipped it to its new home in Easthampton, where it was rebuilt on the banks of the Lower Mill Pond. “I could not say enough good things about this venue. We're SO glad we decided to get married at The Boylston Rooms! The pictures show for themselves how beautiful the venue (and surrounding areas for photography) are, but the staff are what make this place extra special. From start to finish, everyone we worked with was nothing but professional. They were clear and timely communicators, helped troubleshoot things during the planning process, and came with loads of wedding wisdom that helped set us up for success on the big day. When the big day came, I also appreciated how often their staff checked in - even to make sure I was eating (it's the small things!) - and were ready to jump into support anywhere. A special shout out to Myles, who played a supporting role during our wedding portraits, helping me to keep my very long veil under control! A few other things I'll mention: - Their storage room filled with decor you can borrow is SO helpful. Less that you need to buy (and potentially waste post-wedding) and can even make decision-making easier when there are 1,000 versions of the same item online. - Their wedding suites are great to have available too. Obviously for getting ready, but it's also a nice reprieve if you need a quiet moment during the reception. - The Boylston Rooms only works with one caterer, Myer's Catering. Our guests are STILL raving about the food. (There's more flexibility with other vendors). - The Boylston Rooms also owns/is affiliated with The Wedding Day Trolley, which we used to transport our guests to/from the hotel. My partner and I also took some super fun photos inside of the trolley!”

“I couldn’t have asked for a better wedding venue than The Wheeler House!! I had followed this venue for YEARS on instagram and always knew I would be interested in touring. Once we toured the venue and heard about their amazing all inclusive package we booked immediately. Our wedding coordinator was Emma Ray and she was FANTASTIC. She made wedding planning a breeze and was always available to answer any questions I had. I never once felt stressed in the process thanks to her. She was amazing day one and made sure everything was absolutely perfect and just the way I wanted it! Our guests raved about how helpful Emma and all of the staff were, as well as how delicious the food was! We were on a pretty tight budget and this venue was great about allowing us to DIY certain aspects to save money where we needed. I seriously couldn’t dream of a better place to have a wedding!”

“We had a beautiful Fall wedding at Green Acres, made possible through the expert hands of Megan. The event space is beautiful all on its own, including an updated bridal suite, charming rustic barn details and sprawling grounds for extended outdoor space. Leading up to the big day, Megan made sure we stayed on schedule and offered invaluable advice and suggestions. The wedding day felt like everything was just taken care of. She worked with all our vendors and coordinated everything seamlessly. If I had the opportunity to do the day all over again, I would certainly come back to this venue and work with Megan again. “The Oviatt Penthouse was the first and only venue we toured. It was love at first sight. We wanted an Old Hollywood/jazz nightclub vibe and the venue just fit the bill. The interior is fully furnished and it will transport you back in time to an Art Deco era. Very minimal wedding decorations are needed. Outside, the view of DTLA day or night will take your guest’s breath away. Once contract was signed, the planning process was easy peasy. They have a helpful Preferred vendor list so we were able to book a great caterer and day of coordinator right away. The Oviatt planning team, Lindsey and Cami, were so kind and patient with my multiple questions. Day of the wedding, the Oviatt staff were a super hero team. They were in constant communication with each other and my wedding coordinator to run things smoothly. Also very sweet and friendly. Shoutout to valet, security, and bartender! 3 All in all, our wedding was a magical day thanks to the Oviatt’s wonderful atmosphere. After it was all over, I received multiple messages from guests raving about my wedding. Some told me it was one of the best and most unique wedding experiences they have ever attended. So if you want an affordable venue with historical character, I highly recommend booking The Oviatt Penthouse for your wedding.”

“Donauschwaben's German-American Cultural Center was the perfect venue for our daughter & son-in-law’s wedding. The location to the airport, highway and hotel were ideal. Their property provided plenty of parking. The wedding was outside on a 92 day and was flawless. It was hot, but the trees were in the perfect position to shade the entire patio. The entire staff was amazing. The reception space was transformed into a beautiful space for our special celebration. Our family and friends shared with us how delicious the appetizers, meal and “aftertizers” of the homemade pretzels. Christine the Event Manager went above and beyond and made sure the day was special for everyone. She answered all of my questions, even up to the last minute. We were so impressed with how many times Christine checked in with us to make sure we were happy. We highly recommend Donauschwaben’s German-American Cultural Center.”

“We got married here & LOVED our experience. We chose to go the DIY route and bring in our own catering & vendors (which were no extra fee to do so!) and were so happy to find a venue that allowed us to do that! Adding up all the expenses afterwards though I would highly recommend considering the packages with vendors/catering included as A Simple Affair pricing actually would have saved me a little in the long run and been much easier to do everything in one place. We really enjoyed our experience in booking, planning and day-of with all the A Simple Affair staff! Take advantage of their planning appointments as they are so helpful in nailing down your details and timeline! Also make sure to check out their decor as they have so much you can add on and not have to bring in your own PLUS there is a perfect spot for outdoor photos on the other side of the parking lot!”

“Our wedding was everything we hoped for. Courtney (our coordinator) was warm, organized, and made the day run smoothly. Mikayla and Malia were so friendly and helpful, and Christy (bartender) kept checking in to make sure we had drinks in hand. We also really liked our DJ, Madeleine—she kept the energy up all night, but considering I had given her a very long list of songs we really liked, I was sad when she played some that weren’t even on the list, particularly during dinner service, knowing that meant less time for the songs we loved most. The ceremony site was stunning, and the reception space perfectly blended rustic mountain charm with elegance. The prime rib was excellent, and overall, the food exceeded our expectations. Dropping off, having them set everything up and picking up decorations went so smoothly. Unfortunately, the contracted bakery that was included in our package never got back to us, even after we followed up multiple times. Because of that, we had to use an outside baker, The Cakery Pastry Studio, whose cake was amazing—but it cost us more money out-of-pocket, even after receiving a credit. The Gold Nugget Cabin was clean and charming, though the bathrooms are dated. I did appreciate that they had recently updated the bridal suite, which made for beautiful “getting ready” photos. I do wish check-in had been earlier for photos, as I felt rushed before the ceremony. My only real regret is not adding an extra hour to the reception—it flew by too quickly. The only big negative I have to share is how close to the wedding they were able to confirm our rehearsal time between 9:00 AM or 1:00 PM. That impacts travel time for the wedding party. In my case they were all coming in from out of state and navigating child care. Not knowing if they’d need to fly in the night before or if they could swing an early AM flight until just 6 weeks before our date added extra stress on me and our wedding party.”

“The Pavilion on Crystal Lake and the Connecticut wedding group curated and developed the best day of our lives. Our wedding was a little over a month now and every time we see a friend it family member, we are overwhelmed with compliments and people telling us that our wedding was the best wedding they’ve ever been to. The trusted vendors they shared were excellent complements to the orchestration that CT wedding group provided. The food and drinks were spectacular ( literally the best wedding food I’ve ever had and we got to customize the menu). The venue was beautiful and it team plugged in anywhere they could to help the decor be cohesive and beautiful. The planning process was a, devoid of stress and fun the whole time! I cannot stress enough how important the staff was to our day especially Lexi and Dmitri- the nuance and meticulous detail they managed our wedding with showed a deep understanding of us as a couple and our vision- we truly felt like they were partners to us as we planned and they mostly managed the wedding planning experience (and we did this from out of state). We were able to incorporate some non traditional details with the help of this team to make our vision a reality such as a New Orleans style second line, playing guests wedding songs so they could dance during dinner and more! The day was absolutely perfect and when I tell you it was perfect, I mean it was everything we dreamed of and more. We were depressed for weeks after because of how much we missed it! I will never stop singing the praises of this team and what they did for us- if you want the wedding of your dreams, trust this team and this venue.”

Our event chef Jeff delivered on a level that you can’t even find at some 5 star restaurants. This was not wedding food. This was bliss. On top of all of this was the service. Just the perfect finish. The servers and bartenders took care of our guests like their own family. This experience was unlike anything we could have imagined. CT Wedding Group is astounding. Nazareth Hall is known throughout the region as a banquet and wedding facility, but it’s the rich history and lush setting that draws people here. Built in 1927 as an all-boy Catholic boarding school. It eventually evolved into a renowned military school for boys. Throughout its history the school stayed true to its Catholic roots and the nuns who served and taught here. Operating until 1982 the stories written within its walls are still told today. Re-emerging with a new mission and purpose in April of 1991, Nazareth Hall was reborn. It is in this picturesque place, reminiscent of castles of old, that brides come to be married and celebrate with family and friends in grand ballrooms. The classrooms and meeting spaces offer the perfect vintage background for business training sessions, and the manicured lawns have been host to numerous parties and festivities.
