Originally called Cold Spring Ranch due to an ice cold spring. The Dorrington Hotel was built in 1852 by John Gardner who married Rebecca Dorrington and moved her out from Scotland. Bridgeport Ranch Barns & Terrace is a unique, seasonal, outdoor event venue. Located in the heart of the scenic and historic valley of Bridgeport, California, your special event will have the panoramic view of the meadows and Eastern Sierra Mountains. Within an hour drive of Yosemite National Park, and 2 hours of South Lake Tahoe, Bridgeport is easily accessible via Highway 395. The barns were originally built in 1871 by Stewart Kirkwood, primarily to feed and harness draft horses that were used for cutting and stacking hay, and then hauling it to the town of Bodie. Today they have been lovingly restored and updated to provide this one of a kind event venue, while still maintaining a great many original features and artifacts that remind us of their history.
