The most perfect and magical venue!!

If you are looking for the perfect wedding venue, look no further! The Ranch at Stoney Creek is MAGICAL. From the moment we first visited, my now husband and I knew that this was the only place in the world we wanted to get married. The venue is absolutely stunning, and it is clear that countless hours of thought, hard work, and love have been put into every single detail of venue to make it perfect. The venue is large and yet still feels cozy, elegant but still natural. The staff at the Ranch made planning our wedding a breeze, and I so thoroughly enjoyed working with Suzanne, Michelle, Leon, and the rest of the incredible behind the scenes folks who worked so hard to make our wedding a once-in-a-lifetime event. They worked with us every step of the way to make sure that our wedding was exactly how we envisioned it, and they far exceeded our expectations. From the incredibly bountiful floral arrangements and seemingly infinite decor options to the comfortable rooms and the delicious food (plus the campsites, the no lights out time, the three ceremony sites to choose from, the beautiful patio for welcome drinks...the list goes on!), the Ranch truly has it all. We felt right at home at there, and our guests did too. The staff was very accommodating and on top of things, and they go the extra mile to make sure that everybody has a wonderful time. I am so grateful that I was able to get married at the Ranch at Stoney Creek, and that these lovely people are a part of the story.

Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words! It was an absolute honor to be part of such a special milestone in your lives. From the very first time we met, we could see how much love and joy surrounded you both, and being able to share in that energy — alongside your wonderful family and friends — was truly a gift. Hearing that you felt right at home at the Ranch means the world to us. Every detail here is designed with couples like you in mind, and we’re so happy that the beauty, comfort, and spirit of the property helped make your celebration everything you imagined and more. Thank you for trusting us with your wedding weekend — and for reminding us why we love what we do! Warmly, Suzanne, Michelle, Leon & The Ranch at Stoney Creek Team

Perfect Wedding Venue with Amazing Staff

The Ranch at Stoney Creek was the perfect venue for our wedding weekend. Their communication was always timely, helpful, and friendly, putting us at ease throughout the planning process. They reminded us of things that we hadn't thought of throughout the planning process and always had an option for a solution if we did not have one. The quality of their work and overall value was truly breathtaking - the floral bouquets they put together were beyond what we could have imagined, and their coordinator Michelle has an incredible eye for detail, ensuring our vision came to life in their tranquil and versatile space. Having a 3-day wedding celebration was something we had never heard of before, but The Ranch made it an absolute dream - from the welcome party with s'mores on Friday, to the main event on Saturday, and the farewell brunch on Sunday. We relive our special day over and over and cannot thank The Ranch enough for everything they did to make it so memorable.

    Beautiful venue!

After searching high and low, my husband and I decided on the Ranch at Stoney Creek. From the moment we stepped on the property, the beauty took our breaths away. From the pond at the entrance to the barn and grass area, to the upper area in the trees and grape vines where we had our ceremony. Michelle and Leon have the perfect property for that rustic/country wedding feel. One of the highlights I felt that made a difference was the fact that there are rooms on the property for the bridal party to stay at. Since we lived in Utah and all our friends are still in California, it was a great bonding experience to spend the weekend with them. All in all, they do a great job to keep the weekend running smooth. I would highly recommend this venue!

    Best Venue!

Our wedding at the Ranch at Stoney Creek was nothing short of AMAZING! Our guests had the best time, and LOVED the venue (as did we). The venue is spectacularly beautiful, and the team there were so helpful with organizing EVERYTHING! They provided us with beautiful decor and floral arrangements, an amazing wedding planner, and recommendations for catering and wine vendors in the area. We were even able to have some guests camp on site in beautiful "glamping" tents, which was absolutely awesome (and what we wanted since were were looking for guests to have camping options). Additionally, we were able to stay with our family, onsite, in their beautiful guest-rooms, while other guests were able to stay at adorable Air BnB's and Hotels in the area. Everyone that attended our wedding said it was the "Best wedding they had been to!" Our wedding was everything we wanted and more thank you to the team at The Ranch at Stoney Creek!

The Ranch DOES NOT have a light’s out time! One of the special perks of booking here at The Ranch is that we have the capacity to accommodate overnight guests. Since so many of our guests do overnight here, it is easy to extend your party until the wee hours. We do need to be mindful, however, of the local ordinance which requires a lower music volume after 10:00 PM. A Ranch Staff Member must be on hand until the last guest retires. For your convenience, we will provide a Staff Member until 12:00 PM. After midnight, you can purchase extra Staff Member time for a nominal fee.
Yes. The purchase of Event Liability Insurance is mandatory. We require a $2 million liability policy that covers the entire 3-day event and includes liquor liability. Proof of purchase must be submitted at least 1 month prior to your wedding. We also highly recommend your purchasing a Cancellation Insurance Policy to protect you from financial loss should your big day need to be cancelled or postponed.
a Booking Fee of 33% of the agreed upon rental fees are due within 24 hours of signing the contract and reserving dates. This booking fee is non refundable. Additionally, 50% of the total fee is due if event is cancelled at least 91 days prior to the scheduled date. No refund is due if event is cancelled 90 days or less prior to the scheduled date.
The Ranch is 70.5 miles from Sacramento International Airport (SMF) & 155 miles from San Francisco International Airport (SFO). From SMF take I-5 S towards Sacramento to exit 518 CA-99 S/I-80BL E/US-50 E - continue on 50-E towards Lake Tahoe for 32.6 miles. Take exit 44 & turn right on Missouri Flat Rd. Turn left on China Garden Rd/Main Street/Pleasant Valley Rd (5.5 miles). Turn right on Bucks Bar Rd (very curvy - 4.8 miles). Turn right on Mt. Aukum (2.9 miles). Turn left on Fairplay (3.6 miles). Turn left on Stoney Creek Rd (.4 miles) towards Charles E. Mitchell Winery. Turn right into the Ranch at Stoney Creek entrance.
Yes. We do not sell or serve alcohol. We require that all alcohol be distributed by a professional bartender and that they have liquor liability insurance.
Yes, we can accommodate parking for up to 200 guests. We require parking attendants to assist with facilitating parking before and during event.
May, June, July, August, September, October
we are closed November through April
No
Yes. The Ranch requires a Professional Coordinator to run the weekend and oversee the events happening due to our size, event durations, and complexity. We do offer an In-House Coordination Team that is available to plan your full three-day experience. Our Team has the added advantage of familiarity with our beautiful property. We can also provide a “Recommended Vendor List” that lists several outside coordinators that we have worked with successfully in the past.
Yes. We have no restrictions on the alcohol you bring, as long as it is served by a licensed bartender. We strongly encourage signature drinks as a means of budget management and to encourage responsible drinking. While shots are not prohibited, we discourage them because we have found that they promote irresponsible behavior that can incur damages that become the financial responsibility of the Bride & Groom. We ask that you please manage your consumption in a way that allows for a clean event and safe departure.
Yes. Our goal here at Stoney Creek is to enable our guests to have the best day ever. One of the few places we draw the line and have strict rules are with bartenders. Bartenders have a huge job and the safety of your guests are in their hands. We require professional bartenders at The Ranch for the safety of not only our business, but the safety of your family and friends as well. You may find a list of recommended bartenders on our “Recommended Vendor List” or through your caterer. Your bartender(s) needs to arrive 2-3 hours prior to the event (to ensure drinks are on ice, and the bar is set up and ready) and stay until at least 10:00 PM.
The Ranch offers catering services for small groups. We are happy to host a small rehearsal dinner of up to 50 people, as well as lunch, appetizers, late night snacks, S’mores, and Sunday Brunch. We do allow you to bring in outside caterers. You can find a list of reliable caterers in our “Recommended Vendor List”. Please note that it is considered the responsibility of the caterer to set the dinner table with your selected place settings (not decor) and to buss the tables after your reception dinner. Additionally, you will be responsible for providing a meal for up to 5 vendors (photographer, DJ, Coordinator, Assistant etc).
Tableside water service works best when the Caterer is responsible as they are typically serving food and setting tables. Pre-poured water glasses and/or pitchers at tables is an easy add-on to confirm with your catering team. We would like to emphasize the importance of the water service for dinner especially during the warmer months. We are happy to step in and help with this service if needed for an additional fee.
Yes. Oftentimes the catering team offers this service, but they leave much earlier than your guests and take it with them. We now offer this service for an additional fee. We allow the beverages to stay out for the duration of your party. Your Drink Station decorations will be cohesive with your overall décor theme. We also provide a staff member who will be responsible for maintenance and refills.
Yes. It is very important to offer coffee at the Ranch as people are usually looking for a coffee to drink or to take along as they leave to stay alert on the curvy roads out here. We recommend booking one of our fully decorated coffee service stations through us as we will ensure it stays out for even your late-night guests. Let your caterers pack up and leave and we will take care of the late-night services.
Yes. You will need to arrange this with your Licensed Bartender or Caterer. You will want to keep this in mind when planning the layout of your table décor.
This is an often over-looked detail. It is important to think ahead and preplan with your Coordination Team, Caterers and/or Bartender to strategize how you prefer for your guests to receive their champagne. You can either have champagne poured tableside or serve pre-poured champagne to each guest prior to your toast. Should you bring your own plastic champagne glasses, please ensure that they are pre-assembled and clean.
Yes. To ensure the comfort and safety of all your guests, we do require the rental of porta potties through one of our recommended vendors for the entire 3-day event because The Ranch is on a septic system. The upscale trailers are equipped with sinks, air conditioning, piped in music and flushing toilets. You can also choose to rent standard single stall units but will need a quantity sufficient for your guest count, as well as wash stations.
Yes. We do have a couple requirements here at The Ranch. We require that your Coordinator, Caterer, Florist, DJ and Bartender must be provided by a Professional Service. Also, any Coordinator, Caterer, Photographer and/or DJ that has not been to our property are required to schedule an onsite visit prior to wedding weekend.
For the safety of all our guests and the threat of fires, smoking is taken very seriously at The Ranch. All smoking must be contained in the designated smoking area (circular stone driveway in front of the red barns). This includes cigarettes, cannabis, vapes, etc. Please dispose of all by-products in the provided garbage containers. With preapproval, cigar smoking may also take place on the outdoor patio attached to the saloon and in our optional Cigar Lounge. Smoking in any other areas at The Ranch is strictly forbidden.
This tradition is always super fun and interactive for everyone. We require that all tossed items are eco-friendly, such as: natural flowers or flower petals, dried flowers (lavender, rice or bubbles. No synthetic items please! Even when the item is promoted as being biodegradable, we find that it is not and we cannot allow it. We love sparklers and know that exit toss photos with sparklers are beautiful. However, they do pose a fire threat, and thus need pre-approval.
Yes. We do have a campground that will accommodate 80 guests. There is a cost per person per night and includes a Continental Breakfast. You can bring your own tent and sleeping gear, rent our Bare Bones tents with cots (for an additional fee) or bring a trailer up to 26' or a motorhome up to 30'. We do not have hookups, but there are 2 restrooms and 2 outdoor showers available for campers. Renting additional porta potties is recommended for larger groups or for extra comfort.
Cooking campfires in our predesignated venue firepit are a fun part of your experience. S'More's campfires are overseen by RSC Staff and can be included in your events from 9:30-11:00 PM (if guests are in attendance). You must provide adult supervision to oversee any children in your party. Due to drought conditions and the risk of wildfires, campfires in the campground area require pre-approval and are only permitted during some seasons based on local ordinances.
The flower shop is divided into two parts. There is a front area and walk-in cooler behind an insulated door. The front area of The Flower Shop is a working area for the Ranch and is full of our own tools and supplies and is for our own staff use only. With preapproval, the walk-in cooler is available to hold bouquets and finished arrangements as well as a minimal amount of pre-stripped loose floral ready to be used around the venue and staged for your event. You can also store oversize food platters or desserts in this cool area when prearranged if needed.
Yes. You are welcome to use the small kitchen located in the Lakehouse for cooking family meals. It is equipped with a small refrigerator, small range, and limited counter space. It is ideal for a cozy family dinner. The size will limit you to only cooking for small groups, typically 12 people or less. The kitchen has not worked in the past for event cooking such as rehearsal dinner and ceremony. Take a load off and enjoy having the caterers handle the big numbers!
Yes. We can purchase and provide ice when given 1 week notice at a cost of $10 per bag. We have a freezer that holds 380 lbs (nineteen 20-pound bags) of ice that you may use at no additional cost. Please remember that you will need enough ice to cover your entire 3-day event. Ice quantities needed vary for each wedding depending on ambient temperature and guest count.
While we love animals, pets are not allowed on the Stoney Creek property without prior approval. We are a working farm with animals free ranging on our property. Our ranch dogs are LGD working dogs. Their job is to protect our animals from outside predatory animals including wild dogs. While our dogs are sweet dogs for people, they are very large and may see other dogs as a threat. Pre-approval may be granted for the Bride and Groom ONLY (during ceremony) and a non-refundable deposit of $150 will be required. Dogs are strictly forbidden from being inside any room, building or in the campground.
Yes. The Ranch at Stoney Creek is a dream for kids and we love it when they are included! We've even had events that designate their own fun areas including tents, teepees, games, coloring tables, and more! We encourage you to enhance the experience and make a fun and safe space for the kids attending. Many weddings hire a sitter or assign a family member to supervise the children. Please let your guests know that we have a 20+ foot deep pond, free range animals, and an evening bonfire that pose hazards for children. ALL children under the age of 13 require adult supervision at all times.
Yes. You are welcome to bring your own decorations and personal items.* The Welcome Area, Memory Table, Sweetheart Table, and the Favor Table are the areas which benefit most from your personal keepsakes. For your convenience, we have a large selection of decorations, accessories and furniture at competitive rental prices. We offer you the option to source from us to reduce your costs and to make your planning easier and more efficient.
Yes. We have designated Tuesday just for this purpose. Our 3-day wedding couples must plan to make an appointment for the afternoon of the Tuesday prior to their wedding for drop off of items into a special space set aside just for you. This is a great way to eliminate stress, verify that you have not forgotten anything and serves to streamline your preparations.
Yes. You may bring certain sentimental items such as a special cake cutter or glasses for the Wedding Couple*. We prefer that the remainder of your tableware be sourced from your caterer, or from us. Please understand that all tableware must be cleaned with all stickers removed and packaged in a dust free container prior to and after your event. Many couples choose to bring their own cloth napkins to match their decor, which we love. Please note that napkins must be pressed, knotted, and folded PRIOR to drop off. To streamline your wedding set up, please designate who and how these tasks will get done in advance.
Yes! Most of our wedding couples do host their Rehearsal Dinner here at The Ranch. The use of the Rehearsal Site is part of your Wedding Package and includes the use of our generous sized Upper Patio. We have tables and chairs, a caterers/buffet table, a table for drinks display and a tub that you may use for ice and/or for display of iced drinks. Please note that having a food truck at this upper site does not work as there is no flat space near to the dinner tables for them to park, cook and serve.
Our saloon is where the Groomsmen have lunch and get ready on your wedding day. The saloon is not ideal for overnight stays because there is no bathroom or bedding. However, there are occasions when you feel it is unsafe for one of your guests to drive. In this case, there is a sofa and a queen size air mattress available for use in the saloon for an additional fee.
You should include event date, time, location. Travel recommendations if you have them. Dress code and other recommendations (comfortable shoes and sweater/jacket). How campground fees are paid (per person/per day paid directly to the hosts - usually through venmo link). Smoking and pet policies.
Yes. The purchase of Event Liability Insurance is mandatory. We require a $2 million liability policy that covers the entire 3-day event and includes liquor liability. Proof of purchase must be submitted at least 1 month prior to your wedding. We highly recommend your purchasing a Cancellation Insurance Policy to protect you from financial loss should your big day need to be cancelled or postponed.
We recommend that all guests at The Ranch wear comfortable shoes for walking outside on sloping gravel roads and grass. Flat or low-heeled shoes are very highly recommended. Dress in or bring layers of clothing. Even the hottest of days can transition to a chilly night.
