We hired Leonard Hotea to be our wedding violinist and wow did he add a special level of romance and fun to our event. Leonard is an incredible violinist, but also an amazing performer. He is engaging, entertaining, and brings such great energy. Every song he played made you feel like you were listening to an enhanced version of the original song. He was a huge hit with our wedding guests and everyone raved about his performances. If we could give The Hook Club more stars, we would! Let me get my one gripe out of the way at the top here: I’m pretty sure the only reason my now husband agreed to a wedding celebration was to hire The Hook Club after seeing them at a friend’s wedding before we met. It was the only part of the wedding planning process he felt truly passionate about from the jump – we knew we wanted them before we even had a venue or date and went so far as to clear our potential dates with them before booking anything else. Fast forward, and Dan made the band planning process so supported and seamless that my husband’s one job went off without a hitch. The problem? Despite me planning every other single little detail of our three-day wedding weekend, the first thing that every single guest complimented (and still raves above, 1 month later) was THE BAND! But in truth, we wouldn’t have it any other way. We are absolutely ecstatic with our choice of hiring The Hook Club for our wedding. We did acoustic guitars for the ceremony, sax and tracks for cocktail and band and DJ for reception. THC was outstanding to work with from the jump. Dan is a wealth of knowledge and organization, and brings a calm, cool, collected vibe through every step of the planning process. Not to mention, he’s a great musician who can come discuss timeline with you while also playing the base day of :D. The process THC uses to help plan is smooth and clear. The communication was great throughout – we knew what to expect from the first planning call all the way up to some adhoc timeline changes day of. The band has an extensive repertoire and was able to take in our song, vibe, and timeline requests while also using their extensive experience to guide us along the way. The music carried the vibe throughout the day – from guitars at the ceremony to sax and tracks leading through cocktail hour and a mix of dance sets, slow dances, and expert MC’ing on the dance floor, we couldn’t get enough. So much so, that we extended the end time of the event just to have more fun on the dance floor with THC! Everyone was so nice, supportive, energetic and just brought their outstandingly talented A game and the absolute best vibe. The band got out on the dance floor with us, led us in call and response and a little choreographed proud Mary moment. Our first dance song is not a very common song, not only did THC learn it for us, but they provided us a track of their composition beforehand so we could practice the dance. You’ll see in the pictures my face when I first heard them play it – completely awestruck! That was pretty much my inner face the entire rest of the night in their presence. I have so many fond memories of engaging with THC throughout our wedding. If I could do it again, I’d hire THC without a second thought.

Golden Bells was PHENOMENAL! Marlon and the entire band absolutely crushed it at our wedding. Not only is every musician insanely talented, but Marlon curated the night perfectly -- easing in with oldies to get our parents and older guests moving, then seamlessly shifting into the EDM, pop, and Bay Area rap we love. It felt like the soundtrack of us, and everyone could feel that. One of the highlights of the night was when the band came onto the dance floor with drums, trumpet, guitar, and trombone -- and even let us drum in a bit. The energy was unbelievable. And Hava Nagila with a full live band? Unreal. The band/DJ fusion setup made the entire reception feel elevated, unique, and unforgettable. They're truly a one-of-one. We got so many compliments throughout the night and later about the music, the vibe, and the experience the band created. Everything ran smoothly -- from emceeing to sound to transitions -- and you can tell the quality of their equipment and professionalism is top-notch. We found Brandon through our wedding planner Christine Garrison of CMG Events. She suggested him because we were interested in having someone play acoustic guitar and singing during the wedding. After chatting with Brandon, we hired him to play the guitar for our ceremony, act as a wandering minstrel during the cocktail hour, and DJ the entire event. Our ceremony took place outdoors in an open lawn area. Brandon did a great job with setting up the sound. Everyone was able to hear both us and the officiant clearly. The acoustic rendition of Heartbeats (Jose Gonzalez) and Wildflowers (Tom Petty) he played for our processional and recessional were beautiful and really set the mood we were looking for. Brandon also did a great job DJing the event. He was able to take a small number of songs and expand the playlist to not only fit our tastes but keep the party hopping. We had expected that we would have minimal dancing and that our crowd would mostly just sit around chatting. However, Brandon was able to keep the energy up and the dance floor going throughout the night. It far exceeded our expectations and made the night really memorable. He was extremely professional throughout the planning process. We had several calls leading up to the wedding, and he made it easy to communicate what we were looking for in the event. We added songs to a few different playlists which he used as a jumping off point. He also provided suggestions for all the important moments (e.g., processionals, recessional, first dance, grand entrance). His contract and other documents were also clear and always sent promptly. On the day of Brandon arrived on time for set up and did a great job with all aspects (sound, DJing, acoustic performance, and lighting) of the event. He looked extremely professional and was communicative throughout the day, constantly checking in with the planner and us to make sure everything was going well. If he wasn’t sure about a song, he’d ask before playing it. Best of all, he was extremely reasonably priced. His assistant, Josh, was also very nice and did a great job.

Working with Joey was an unbelievable pleasure. My now husband and I were quite nervous about hiring a DJ (naturally given it was our first time!), but the second I found and spoke to Joey over the phone in an introductory call, I knew we were in good hands. His warmth, charisma and incredible professional experience was apparent, even during those first few minutes. Joey is an unbelievably talented performer (he played live cello at our ceremony) and a well seasoned DJ. What we didn’t know when we first hired him, was just how much help Joey would be in helping us schedule and orchestrate the flow of our full wedding. We had multiple calls and meetings, well before the wedding day, where Joey kept us informed and confident all throughout. He helped us coordinate the music not only to the most important parts of the wedding, but also to all in the in-betweens, making sure that good vibes were always flowing throughout the whole thing. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better person to make it all happen. Joey is also someone who is incredibly organized and pays great attention to detail and timing. He kept things moving (even though that was outside the scope of his work) and made sure everything was on schedule. Even when we ended up going overtime (not to the fault of Joey but family getting too carried away with speeches!), Joey quickly and expertly adjusted his set and made the final dance party something we will never forget. I truly mean this when I say don’t look any further. Don’t hesitate in hiring Joey—if we had to do it all over again, we would pick Cello Joe, every single time. —and to Joey: thank you so much for everything. You truly made our wedding a day we will never forget.

Aloha! I'm Roman. I've been living on the magical island of O'ahu since I came to UH Manoa in 2009 for my Economics Degree. I got involved with the University radio station (90.1 FM), started doing live events, and really loved showing off my rare music finds. Nothing beats the feeling of rocking a live crowd for track after track, especially after the long pause in events! DJing is all I do for "work", and I love it! Each wedding or event I play is full of different people and different ages from all over the world, and they all have differing tastes in music- blending so many different genres and styles of music is such a fun challenge!

DJ Roman Candles was excellent! He pulled off a set that was beyond our wildest dreams. We had a brief phone meeting a week before the wedding about how we wanted the vibe to be and he pulled it off perfectly. Us and our guests were blown away by his performance. After the wedding, all of our guests were raving how awesome he was! He blended all of our requested genres. The transitions between genres and between songs were spot on! He had all of our guests up and dancing. Our wedding coordinator said he was very easy to work and communicate with. He was very organized and had all the equipment we needed. He also took care of the emcee duties and did an awesome job! He had an app we could use to upload all of our song requests. We found it very useful for organizing the songs we wanted played at each part of the night. He totally killed it and we could not imagine anyone doing better. 10/10. We can’t stop watching videos of how fun the night went! Totally recommend DJ Roman Candles for your wedding or any other events!!!

Maggie Speaks was absolutely fantastic to work with for our wedding! From our first interaction, they were friendly, knowledgeable, and prompt in responding to all of our questions. They were also incredibly flexible, working with us to customize the music and timeline to fit our vision. On the day of, they were attentive and made sure everything ran smoothly. Their performance was truly professional, exciting, and fun - they learned our first dance song and played it flawlessly, keeping the dance floor packed all night long. Our guests are still raving about Maggie Speaks and how much they enjoyed the music. We're so grateful to have found such an amazing band to be a part of our special day. Thanks guys!

Trained at Dubspot School of Electronic Music in New York City, Davis Mallory's DJ style is influenced by his childhood in Atlanta, Georgia, time exploring the music scenes of Chicago, Europe and New York, Los Angeles and Music City: Nashville, Tennessee. Davis embraced our music style and used license to make the best decisions for our crowd. Very respectful. Very accessible on days leading up to wedding. Was a great partner to the other weddingstakeholders as we had a live ensemble as well. 5 Stars!!!

The Salamanders are truly one of the best bands I've ever seen! Incredible musicians, top notch vocalists, and fantastic energy. Steve Eicher is a 30-year wedding expert/wedding master of ceremonies, disc jockey, and a host who creates amazing, magical weddings and events that are cherished for life. His enhanced wedding and event presentations, energy, and attention to every detail creates an experience that is memorable and meaningful to you and all your guests. I offer wedding emcee and disc jockey services. Event services for private and corporate events. I am also a public address announcer for baseball, softball, and football who offers in-game experiences. And, I am an auctioneer.

Steve is an excellent DJ and MC! Right from the first call he was great with explaining the process and his services and he truly goes above and beyond. The communication and service as great throughout the process. He sent us a sample timeline for the wedding day which included all of the "special songs" required, and about how many songs we needed for each part of the day. We loved that we were able to provide specific songs for each part that really fit us and who we are. On our wedding day he showed up early and set up everything so that it blended seamlessly with the venue. Everything was played as requested and on time, and he went above and beyond introducing himself to the guests and letting them know other details - such as where to sign the guest book and the shuttle departure times. Our guests told us they loved the music and he helped make our day great and run smoothly!

Dancehall Days regularly performs throughout the Western United States, Hawaii, United Kingdom and Bahamas. We have had the pleasure of performing at such beautiful destinations as Fleetwood's On Front Street, Ocean Club - Bahamas, Ritz Carlton - San Francisco, Park Plaza Westminster Bridge - London and Sun Valley Resort.

We cannot recommend Dancehall Days enough! We wish we could get married all over again just for the music. This band absolutely nailed our wedding in Jackson Hole, and we are still in awe of how incredible they were. My husband and I were so focused on having an amazing band that would get everyone dancing and fit our specific music taste. Not only did they travel all the way from Oregon, but they also made the entire process so easy and enjoyable from start to finish. From the moment we reached out to them, they were a breeze to work with—so friendly, professional, and attentive to our needs. They went above and beyond, learning several special songs for us and ensuring every detail was perfect for our big day. The energy they brought to the reception was unmatched, and they kept the dance floor packed all night long. Safe to say we wanted the band to be the highlight of the night, and they were exactly that. And when it came to the Fleetwood Mac (and even some tough Motown!!) covers? They absolutely killed it! We were beyond thrilled with how they brought those iconic songs to life, just as we had hoped. Every song was performed with such passion and skill, and it made for some seriously magical moments. If you're looking for a band that can deliver incredible live music, great vibes, and a personal touch, Dancehall Days is the way to go. They truly helped make our wedding night unforgettable, and we are so grateful for their talent and energy. I can't wait to catch them at one of their gigs and dance the night away again soon!
