“We absolutely loved working with The Hook Club. Our amazing planner, Greenhouse Events, recommended THC, and we were sold immediately after meeting with Dan. He is super relaxed, nice, and so knowledgable. Dan and THC team made planning super easy for us. They took time to hear about our hopes and helped recommend different band sizes for us. We hadn’t heard of a DJ band before, but loved the idea of some live music with the versatility to play all sorts of music, but our venue wasn’t very big and we also didn’t want to break the bank and hire a huge band. We chose the 4 piece DJ band with singer, sax, drums, and DJ. We knew we LOVED the sax, so we also had the sax play for cocktail hour (shout out to Elijah, who was amazing), and it was one of the best parts of the night. For planning music, they sent out a very detailed and thorough spreadsheet with more songs than one could imagine, and we could rate ones we liked the most, choose ones we definitely wanted or didn't, and choose specific songs for important moments. We met a couple times to review music choices as well. One of our biggest fears with a DJ was that they'd talk too much and be a little annoying, but Dan did a great job as MC, and was very low-key like we asked but announced important moments clearly. Dan and all the musicians had such great energy and got everyone on the dance floor. Our vocalist, Christen, was also amazing — her voice was spectacular, and she was such an amazing performer and got everyone involved in the music and dancing. So many people told us how much they loved the music and the energy, and had never heard of a DJ band but thought it was an amazing concept and the addition of live music over tracks added extra excitement and fun. THC also helped out with lighting (uplights and dance lights), and worked with our fantastic planner and the venue to help us decide the best setup. Ultimately, we loved working with THC. Their DJ-band setup is unique and adds so much variety to your music while allowing for some of the energy that comes from live performers. We danced the night away and had an absolute blast. 100% would recommend THC to anyone!”

He curated the most amazing playlist, based on our theme, so we got to drift through music from the 20's, 30's, 40's, and all the way through to current day. “What an amazing experience working with Joey. He was very thoughtful in curating the music for our day and I hope you find what you are looking for with him. I am a wedding vendor of 15 years as well doing hair, makeup and morning concierge. One of my past brides at one of my most favorite venues to work at is how I was introduced to Joey. After coming out of the hair room I love taking a moment to walk around the venue and there he was playing the cello along with some background music. I was hooked. I love that he was incorporating songs of today with the art of an instrument. I found it unique and something I wanted to showcase at my wedding. I didn’t want people to walk up to just music playing in the space, but an experience. Joey took the time to do 2 calls with us, one being over the phone and the second being over zoom. He came with a detailed questionnaire of how we wanted our wedding to go. It was so detailed that even a music mood girl I didn’t even think of. The calls were scheduled for 30 minutes but he didn’t hesitate to chat with me for over an hour on how I wanted it to be curated. I had already started 2 wedding playlists, but he added and sent me 5 to 6 albums to fill out of songs I loved and wanted. I had over 10 hours of music to play and not only did he take those into consideration he added music that my guests also requested. He even accepted me saying change this song and only play the 10 year olds music every 10 songs He needed to set up in two spaces, one for the ceremony which was outside on our property. He was set up and playing by the time guests arrived. Everyone I spoke with loved the music selection, which I told him “Bridgerton vibes” and he ran with it. After the ceremony his assistant had music playing for the cocktail hour while they broke down the equipment in the ceremony area. I was blown away by the lights that were brought and the look of everything. Microphones worked for speeches and he even had a stand for those who wanted to use them. We didn’t do a traditional walk in but he announced us perfectly and we ran around the tables saying hello to our friends and family. I would recommend Joey to anyone looking to have an experience for their guests, have a DJ but also want strings all in one. He was professional, timely and for someone who did not have a day of coordination or planner very informative. I wanted vendors to do what they do best and I’m glad I trusted him to provide us with music throughout the day and night!”

Aloha! I'm Roman. I've been living on the magical island of O'ahu since I came to UH Manoa in 2009 for my Economics Degree. I got involved with the University radio station (90.1 FM), started doing live events, and really loved showing off my rare music finds. Nothing beats the feeling of rocking a live crowd for track after track, especially after the long pause in events! DJing is all I do for "work", and I love it! Each wedding or event I play is full of different people and different ages from all over the world, and they all have differing tastes in music- blending so many different genres and styles of music is such a fun challenge!

“DJ Roman Candles was excellent! He pulled off a set that was beyond our wildest dreams. We had a brief phone meeting a week before the wedding about how we wanted the vibe to be and he pulled it off perfectly. Us and our guests were blown away by his performance. After the wedding, all of our guests were raving how awesome he was! He blended all of our requested genres. The transitions between genres and between songs were spot on! He had all of our guests up and dancing. Our wedding coordinator said he was very easy to work and communicate with. He was very organized and had all the equipment we needed. He also took care of the emcee duties and did an awesome job! He had an app we could use to upload all of our song requests. We found it very useful for organizing the songs we wanted played at each part of the night. He totally killed it and we could not imagine anyone doing better. 10/10. We can’t stop watching videos of how fun the night went! Totally recommend DJ Roman Candles for your wedding or any other events!!!”

You’re spending so much money, and it’s honestly nerve-wracking not knowing if everything will live up to what you’re hoping for — especially with such a huge day on the line. But JukeBox is NOT a vendor you need to second-guess. They are worth every single penny!!! David is an incredible MC who kept the entire evening flowing effortlessly. We incorporated a Filipino money dance into our reception, and I was so unsure about what music to use. David patiently worked through my many emails, helped guide me through the decision, and I never once had to second-guess that it would all come together smoothly. On the wedding day, it was seamless. They are a well oiled machine and they operate so flawlessly and are truly such a driving force to the party!! During the planning process, David was always responsive and attentive, and everything felt completely tailored to us. He even professionally cut and edited our first dance and father-daughter dance songs, and they turned out perfectly. Our dance floor was packed all night long & guests are still talking about how amazing the band was just like they still talk about them from my brother-in-law’s wedding. “Steve is an excellent DJ and MC! Right from the first call he was great with explaining the process and his services and he truly goes above and beyond. The communication and service as great throughout the process. He sent us a sample timeline for the wedding day which included all of the "special songs" required, and about how many songs we needed for each part of the day. We loved that we were able to provide specific songs for each part that really fit us and who we are. On our wedding day he showed up early and set up everything so that it blended seamlessly with the venue. Everything was played as requested and on time, and he went above and beyond introducing himself to the guests and letting them know other details - such as where to sign the guest book and the shuttle departure times. Our guests told us they loved the music and he helped make our day great and run smoothly!”
