Whether you're looking for a place to hold a formal gathering or wedding, or need a more relaxed environment for a family reunion, party for any occasion or festival, The Longhouse is the perfect destination for your function. Beautifully situated at the top of a hill overlooking a lake on approximately 450 acres tree farm and wildlife preserve. The Longhouse building has a large hall that can be used in a variety of ways. It's cathedral ceiling and large stone hearth make it both beautifully spacious and warm and inviting. ​The barn has been built from the ground up by Craig Carpenter, his brother Timmy Carpenter and other family and friends. Many of the trees use to build the barn were harvested from their property and were prepared at their saw mill on site. The idea for a wedding venue began was a dream of their daughter, now Zimmerwald's Estate manager Katie Carpenter White. What began as a simple dream and a sketch on a piece of notebook paper, has now become a reality. We are extremely excited to be a place where beautiful family memories can be made and couples can begin their happily ever after!

Ruth's Garden is the newest venue in historic downtown Gastonia. The Garden is a secluded and serene space, perfect for your next event. The venue has the capacity for a maximum of 60 people. This is an intimate, warm, and cozy venue. You can also have your event memorialized with engraved bricks or pavers! Since Ruth's Garden is a part of The Animal League of Gaston County, a non-profit organization, we can offer a competitive rate compared to other venues in the area. All proceeds from your event will be directed towards programs and staff that support dogs and cats in Gaston County.
