I was fortunate enough to receive a recommendation for an incredibly talented hair and makeup studio from a family member who used Darling and Dapper for her wedding in October of 2024. After reading the different artist descriptions on the Darling and Dapper website, I knew Taylor Shira and Carolina Updegraff were going to be a perfect fit for what I was looking for on the day of the wedding! Taylor and Carolina exceeded my every expectation! What struck me most about Taylor was her ability to help create a calm, inviting atmosphere on the day of the wedding. She is such a sweet, energetic person with such a positive personality to boot. What struck me most about Carolina was her ability to recreate the exact makeup look from any inspiration picture you show her. She is such a sweet, warm person and she and Taylor are the exact kind of people you want to spend time with on what is typically a very overwhelming day! Their attention to detail and artistic eyes brought out the true beauty in myself and all my bridesmaids. I truly have never felt as beautiful as I did on my wedding day thanks to Taylor and Carolina. Taylor and Carolina are not only a master with any hair or makeup style you throw at them, but they are also true professionals. We chose to get ready in the bridal suite of our hotel and they both arrived on time, maintained a friendly and approachable demeanor, and made us feel truly at ease throughout the whole day! Their level of communication is impeccable as they were always willing to take feedback (without taking it to heart) and truly listen to what you were hoping to achieve with your look, so we knew we were in good hands the day of the wedding. With our wedding being an outdoor wedding, on July 12th, in Virginia, I was slightly nervous that my makeup was going to be ruined before we even made it to cocktail hour, but Carolina worked tirelessly to support my dream of having my desired look (and boy did she succeed)! Taylor worked tirelessly (up until I left the building to walk down the aisle) to support my dream of having cascading curls down my back and cascade (and last) they did! My six bridesmaids all chose different hair and makeup inspirations and were all extremely pleased with their work. Working with Taylor and Carolina has been an absolute pleasure from my bridal hair trial session to the end of the wedding day. “Now for the details: Brandon, Kellie, Elmer, and Becky were excellent to work with. They were communicative throughout the entire process and even sent monthly checklists to ensure the wedding planning timeline was ironed out and reminded you of the small details that most folks forget about. It’s the little things like these emails that went above and beyond to make sure our evening went as smoothly as possible. Our DJ, Elmer, was very enthusiastic despite challenges at the beginning of the event – the venue coordinator was very combative with him during set-up – and he didn’t let it affect the energy of the evening. (We didn’t find out until after the wedding date from our other vendors setting up and we had to reach out and ask about it because he didn’t want us to worry at all). He provided a high energy level and hits for dancing the whole evening and stuck to our favorite music vibes. Our photo booth operator, Becky, pulled us aside to take photos in the booth and thank goodness she did because we didn’t get the chance to go in before or after she pulled us aside. She put our guestbook together throughout the evening and it was fun to have something that captured our night to look through the next morning. Signature DJs was reasonably priced considering everything we received - music for ceremony & reception, mics, uplighting for dance floor, photo booth with guest book, monogram, and bubble exit complete with 2 bubble machines and bubbles for individual guests. They were flexible with our requests (customized monogram, unconventional timeline, and last-minute song additions) and had already worked at our venue so they were already familiar with the space which was super helpful because the venue coordinator was awful to work with. They put us at ease and gave us confidence that our day would be wonderful when we were the most stressed. Thank you so much, Brandon, Kellie, and team for setting the tone and giving us a memorable night!”

Working with the Gala 417 team, especially Sarah and Lyndsey, made the planning process enjoyable and stress-free. They were incredibly responsive and attentive, always quick to answer questions and ensure that our wedding day vision came to life in a way that felt uniquely ours. Lyndsey, our day-of coordinator, was amazing! She handled everything flawlessly throughout the morning and early afternoon, and we truly appreciated how well-organized and professional she was. Even though there were a couple of small bumps after her departure, such as the DJ needing a reminder for speeches, and a few of our selected beer options running out earlier than expected, the staff still managed to keep everything running smoothly. To future brides, I would recommend clearly emphasizing any specific beverage preferences during your catering and blueprint meetings if you or your guests have favorites to avoid any disappointments. We were especially excited about the food after trying it at our catering meeting—it was delicious, and we even bragged to our guests about it! However, on the day of the wedding, the food served was bland and inconsistently prepared. We had requested steaks to be cooked medium, but after the fact, many of our guests shared that their filets ranged from rare to well-done, with some even mentioning gristle or fat in the cut—which shouldn’t happen with a filet. This was a bit disappointing, especially considering how much we were looking forward to the meal. Overall, Gala 417 went above and beyond to make our wedding day truly unforgettable. We would absolutely recommend this venue to future couples—between the gorgeous space and the dedication of the staff, our wedding was everything we dreamed of and more. We are so grateful to the entire Gala 417 team for making our day so special!”

She was flexible, knowledgeable, and helped us plan out how we wanted our special day to go. When our initial plans were rained out, she was quick to assist with problem solving and just be down for the adventure which made the whole process stress-free. “We absolutely loved working with Bryauna and Jamar at Moments for Life Visuals. From booking our initial consultation to giving updates on wedding timelines to following up post wedding, they were responsive and easy to get in touch with. Jamar showed up right on time on our wedding day and we felt really comfortable with him around. He managed to capture the entire vibe of the day from the big moments to the little details. We were really on the fence about whether or not the cost of a videographer would be worth it since we already booked a photographer. Moments for Life had packages that fit with our budget and we’re so glad we booked them. Photos are great, but the videos we got are so full of life and are truly magical. If you’re on the fence about hiring a videographer - DO IT! We also really appreciated that Moments for Life gave us the raw footage of our ceremony, reception speeches, dancing, and cake cutting.”
