    Like he’d known us forever!

    If I could give Evan more than 5 stars, I absolutely would. When our original plans changed, Evan stepped in with only about a month’s notice, and somehow made it feel like he’d known us our entire lives. The ceremony he wrote was so personal, thoughtful, and genuine that countless guests asked us afterward how long we’d been friends with him. They couldn’t believe we’d only recently met! He found the perfect balance between humor and heartfelt emotion. We laughed, we cried, and every word felt authentic to us as a couple. He captured our story so beautifully that it became one of our favorite parts of the entire day. Evan wasn’t just our officiant—he became a huge part of the best day of our lives. We are so incredibly grateful that he stepped in when we needed him most.     Perfect officiant

    Married by Evan was perfect. He was recommended to us by our venue. He was professional, helped guide us thru the ceremony and made our moment special. Even our guest mentioned how impressed they were with Evan. We asked for ut to be 50% funny and he was great. We would highly recommend.

    Wedding officiant

    Evan did an outstanding job as our wedding officiant in Norfolk in June 2026. He provided a very helpful video call leading up to the wedding, explaining the marriage license and learning about us. His script contained the perfect balance of humor, entertainment, and sincerity to make our wedding special, and he was always communicative, professional, and available for us. We highly recommend Evan as a wedding officiant!

    Excellent Choice

    We chose Married By Evan to officiate our ceremony and couldn't have made a better decision. While I have been performing weddings since 2010, I made the decision to create my full time business in 2019.

If a couples wants me to, absolutely yes, but it is not required. My packages are designed with options for both.
Absolutely! While many states recognize and honor an ordination received online, Virginia does not. But I was ordained while serving as a Youth Pastor back in 2008 and received my officiant license through the state back in 2010.
For sure. While we often do them at the same time, the ceremony itself and the legal portion of your marriage are not required to go hand in hand so we perform lots of ceremonies for couples who (for a number of reasons) have already handled the legal portion of their marriage. It actually saves you a few bucks too, so ... :)
Its is actually super cool, except ... Because Virginia does not recognize an ordination obtained through an online outlet, it can be quite tricky for them to legally do it. But no worries, we offer a signing service that allows us to partner with them and take care of the legal portion of things. And we are super flexible to make it quick and easy!
