The Barn at Elk Shoal Creek was an absolute dream to work with for our wedding. From the beginning, Rebecca was incredibly on top of our needs and communication was never an issue - she was always there if we needed her. The venue itself was spacious, accessible, and accommodating, which allowed us to truly relax and enjoy our special day. They went above and beyond to contribute to the success of our wedding, like playing our ceremony music (which was one less thing for us to worry about) and providing silverware for our buffet when our caterer forgot. The Barn at Elk Shoal Creek is truly the best and we couldn't recommend them more highly.

From the moment we arrived, the castle's grandeur and charm took our breath away. The stunning views of the Blue Ridge Mountains provided a picturesque backdrop that made every photo look like it was straight out of a storybook. The staff at Smithmore Castle were exceptional, attending to every detail with such care and precision that we felt like royalty. The ceremony took place in the beautiful courtyard, where the blooming flowers and elegant statues added a touch of natural beauty to the setting. The gentle sounds of the fountain in the background created a serene and magical atmosphere that set the perfect tone for the day. Inside, the reception was held in the magnificent Great Room, with its marble floors, medieval tapestries, and glittering crystal chandeliers. The three-story granite fireplace was a striking centerpiece that added warmth and a sense of history to the celebration. The castle's chefs prepared a feast that delighted all our guests, blending exquisite flavors with impeccable presentation. Surrounded by 60-acres of vineyards, a 2-acre fishing pond, and a walking trail winding alongside the Grassy Creek, days can be filled with discovering what the Appalachian nature has to offer, or cozied up with a book or game of chess next to a roaring fire in the original 1920’s hearths.

  • Unique barn setting
  • Accommodates more than 200 guests
  • Historic touches

Venue considerations

  • No on-premises lodging options

Communication with Danna was incredible from start to finish. She always responded quickly, answered all of our questions, and was so helpful throughout the entire planning process. The space itself is stunning—the wooded area with the lake backdrop was the perfect setting for our ceremony. One of the things that made our experience extra special was having our wedding party stay in the cabins for the entire weekend. Everything was set up and ready for our guests, and we were able to use all the kitchenware and amenities, which made hosting so easy. Having access to the entire property truly set Klondike Cabins apart, especially since so many venues don’t offer that—let alone at such a great price. We couldn’t be happier with our decision to celebrate at Klondike Cabins. The beauty of the grounds combined with the time spent surrounded by our closest friends and family made it all unforgettable.
