How much do wedding & reception venues cost?

The cost of wedding venues varies, with factors influencing cost including size, location, guest count, and, most importantly, whether things like catering and rentals are included. The more a reception venue near you includes, the higher the cost. When considering venues, try to compare prices apples-to-apples. If one venue includes catering and rentals in their pricing and the other doesn’t, you need to figure out how much additional cost those outside vendors would be to make a true comparison. Before booking, be sure you’re aware of additional costs outlined in your contract, like parking fees and weather-related considerations (adding a tent, etc.).

What questions should we ask wedding venues?

When talking with a potential venue, always ask about 1) their availability and 2) their capacity. Some popular venues book up peak season Saturdays nearly 2 years in advance—if your first choice date isn’t available, consider your flexibility on day of the week and year. While maximum capacity is non-negotiable, venues might have guidance on what guest count will be most comfortable. Also, you’ll want to understand what is and is not included in the venue’s fees. Some include catering, tables and chairs, and linens, while others offer just the raw space. These venues are often less expensive because you are only paying for the space itself, and you’ll have to bring in outside vendors

“We couldn’t have been happier with our experience at Deity. The space is really eclectic in the best way. It balances elegance with a little Brooklyn quirk, especially in the cocktail hour room, which all of our guests loved. From start to finish, the planning process was simple and straightforward. You have one big meeting where everything gets laid out. After that, Anastasia, Caio, and the rest of the team were always quick to respond to emails when we needed to make adjustments. They were professional, organized, and made sure both we and our families felt taken care of throughout the day. Having almost everything in-house (e.g., everything less flowers, cake, photography) also made the whole process less stressful. Compared to other venues we looked at, Deity felt like a value and a way to make our guests feel like they were having an "authentic" NYC/Brooklyn wedding. The food and drinks were another highlight. The short rib was especially memorable, and the bar staff worked with us to create custom cocktails and pre-batch them so no one was stuck waiting in line. The DJ was flexible with our specific music tastes and vision for the evening and collaborated seamlessly when we brought in a drag queen for dinner, which turned into a huge hit with our guests. I’d also recommend booking the couple’s suite. It gave us a place to relax, get ready, and even host a pool party that added a really fun element to the day! “We were looking for a modern, not-too-stuffy venue to host our summer 2025 wedding. We were thrilled when we found Walden and saw the beautiful, modern, space that would allow for the ceremony & reception in one location and that we could create our own vision of the day. The space is beautiful on its own but can be transformed into whatever vision you may have. With a late June wedding, we wanted it to be a colorful and intimate affair. Having the planning team on site made the process extremely smooth and it was invaluable to have their insight, experience and knowledge of the venue. Krystle and Katie were on the ball and there were no hiccups or issues during the planning process or day of (as far as we know!). They have strong relationships with our vendors (band, florist, linens, lighting, etc) which gave us peace of mind and allowed us to focus on other things. Catering in-house is a huge perk and the kitchen was top notch helping us create our non-traditional menu and food service. Bar options went well beyond typical packages in terms of quality of product and idea generation of drink selection and creation. Universally, guests said that the food and beverage were the best they had had at a wedding! Overall, we are thrilled with how everything turned out on our wedding day and much of that happiness has to do with having it at Walden!”

“Olio was the first (and only) wedding venue we toured. Immediately following our tour, my partner and I cancelled all tours/meetings with other venues - we knew that if we were going to have a wedding, it had to be at Olio. At the turn of the century the company faced a crisis: the site of their mill would be flooded to form the Wachusett Reservoir. “My mother and I had a joint celebration of our birthdays around late September last year. The venue was everything we could have dreamed of. Since it is situated in Roosevelt Island, it was the perfect venue to get away from all the hustle and bustle of the city and yet still get a beautiful view of the Manhattan Skyline. The team was also very friendly and supportive to all of our requests and questions. They made sure that our event will go accordingly to what we have envisioned. To top it all off, the food was amazing!!! It is so rare for the celebrants to eat during the event itself but I personally couldn't contain myself. Every dish that was offered during our event was impeccable and there wasn't any miss. There is not one bad thing that I could honestly say about this venue and the team behind. I highly recommend this to everyone!”

“From the moment we stepped foot at The Wheeler House, we knew this was where we wanted to get married. There's something to offer every couple, from the historic house with beautiful wrap-around porches and a pool table for the groomsmen, to the outdoor ceremony space with newly installed turf and tall trees, to the breathtaking barn with high rafters and draping. The staff is professional and our coordinator, Emma, went above and beyond to make sure our day went off seamlessly. It's a common misconception that you sacrifice quality with an all inclusive option but that couldn't be farther from the truth with The Wheeler House. We will be recommending this venue along with our family & friends over and over again. Separately, our wedding party stayed at The Wheeler House Cottages for our entire wedding weekend and it made our experience so much more enjoyable, continuing the celebrations after the wedding and having everyone in one place for ease. “Wedding venue shopping is a lot on a couple. It takes time and energy and can be very stressful. However, when we say we found the perfect place we mean it. Donauschwaben’s was one of our venue choices coming highly recommended by our friends and family already. We reached out through their website and within no time we got an immediate response from the Christine, Event/ Wedding planner to set up a meeting together. She is not only extremely kind, but had everything organized so beautifully to choose from it was a no-brainer to choose this venue. She even recommended our DJ who had played a previous wedding there who was incredible. All communication leading up to our big day was efficient and layed out easily for us to understand. Our checks were deposited in a timely manner by the venue, our tasting was so nice and so delicious. The no pressure wedding planning was worth every penny spent. Our wedding day was so special and so beautiful from start to finish from the ceremony, to the cocktail hour, to our lovely reception to follow. Not only was Christine present the day of, but the staff was also on their A game all night long. Everyone was so incredibly friendly and kind, we felt like royalty. We both highly recommend this venue and if you do, definitely get the Schnitzel, Prost! The only recommendation to the venue would be to update their beverage packages to include seltzers such as High noons or White claws. “We had our wedding at Saphire Estate in Sharon, MA, and it was everything we hoped for and more. We chose the venue because it gave us that dreamy garden-meets-New England charm that we really missed living in Florida, plus it’s right across from a beautiful lake that made for stunning scenery. From day one, the process with Saphire Event Group was seamless. Their team was responsive, organized, and so accommodating—especially with us planning everything from out of state. We couldn’t attend any in-person meetings aside from our initial visit, and they didn’t skip a beat. My parents even went to our food tasting in our place (bless them), and SEG made it all work without a hitch. We were lucky enough to be paired with Anne, our day-of coordinator and actual angel on Earth. From the very beginning, she felt like a friend—sweet, funny, genuine, and totally on my wavelength. I came into this with messy notes and scattered thoughts, and every time I talked to Anne, she brought clarity and calm. She completely understood the vision, printed and carried around my 3-page Google Doc (LOL), and made sure not a single detail was missed. Even when we made the big decision to change our ceremony location a few months before the wedding, she took it in stride and helped everything fall into place. She had everything perfectly lined up the day of and somehow made me feel like I didn’t need to worry about a single thing Anne, we seriously love you. And to the rest of the team: thank you! Everyone we interacted with on the day of had so much personality, were kind, professional, and genuinely seemed like they loved being there. It made a huge difference. “When I tell you Mountain View Ranch was the best experience a bride could ask for, I say this without hyperbole. I just got married 05/04/25 and the entire experience was so smooth I felt like I had no thoughts on my wedding day. Alex Hubbart was my wedding coordinator and she SLAYED all my wedding planning, day of coordinating, and anything else. I literally, LITERALLY could not have asked for a better coordinator. I had no idea what I wanted and she was so patient and helpful the entire time. Caryn was my banquet captain and if you can you should request her. The whole night went perfect. Aiden was our server and he was so sweet and professional. Kevin and Nate killed it. Our food was perfect. And Christie and Carrie were our bar tenders. They made me a custom drink from my grad school days helped me perfect it. I was pumped. Nate the DJ was a crowd favorite. I got the best feedback about how good he was from my guests. If I got married again, I’d do it at Mountain View ranch and I would pick the same team. Especially Alex. Do yourself a favor and book her as your coordinator before someone else snaps her up. The venue itself is beautiful and all the vendors worked so well with the venue. Imagine because they are familiar with the trip and timeline. If you want a low stress, mountain wedding with stunning views? This is the place.”

Even without a wedding planner, I felt fully supported thanks to their incredible in-house catering and event managers (shoutout to Mariesa and Juno!) and our amazing day-of coordinator, Meagan. She ran the show flawlessly and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect — I truly can’t thank her enough. We also hosted our rehearsal dinner onsite in the Fireside Room, which made everything so easy and gave us extra time to enjoy with our family and wedding party. The food was delicious, and another huge perk was staying in the beautiful Bay Pointe cottages. Having a place right at the venue for all of us to stay and celebrate together made the weekend even more special. All night long, our guests raved about how beautiful the venue was. It was everything we dreamed of and more — the most magical place to start our forever. We truly couldn’t recommend Bay Pointe more!!”

Nazareth Hall is known throughout the region as a banquet and wedding facility, but it’s the rich history and lush setting that draws people here. Built in 1927 as an all-boy Catholic boarding school. It eventually evolved into a renowned military school for boys. Throughout its history the school stayed true to its Catholic roots and the nuns who served and taught here. Operating until 1982 the stories written within its walls are still told today. Re-emerging with a new mission and purpose in April of 1991, Nazareth Hall was reborn. It is in this picturesque place, reminiscent of castles of old, that brides come to be married and celebrate with family and friends in grand ballrooms. The classrooms and meeting spaces offer the perfect vintage background for business training sessions, and the manicured lawns have been host to numerous parties and festivities.

“HAVE YOUR WEDDING HERE! Everything is in house- catering, bar, table set up, etc. and it is so helpful to not have to worry about those things. They also let you bring in your own decorations or use the ones they have available. The staff is so amazing! Maddison was my venue coordinator who answered all of my questions and was excellent with assisting with the planning and making sure everything was set for our wedding day! I also had an event coordinator who spent the day with us to make sure everything was running smoothly. They did have two weddings that day so having an event coordinator who could speak with the other coordinator was a huge bonus. Also the food- to die for! It was soooo good and was definitely a favorite for my guests. Not to mention the views! Nazareth has so many spots inside and outside that make the most beautiful wedding photos! Overall, my wedding went off without a hitch and I am so glad that I had my wedding at Nazareth Hall!”
