Averie is a photographer based in the NYC area. Born and raised in Sydney Australia, Averie attended The University of New South Wales, earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in Photomedia in 2011. Since then, Averie has had the pleasure to explore and work in many facets of photography & film, from music & celebrity portraiture, to advertising and fashion. Averie’s style is defined for her love of film photography and subtle use of natural light – giving her work a bold but gentle, raw feeling. She strives to bring this honest feeling to all of her work. Her work has been featured in Vogue, Harpers Bazaar & Brides.

Working with Averie will feel fun, stress free and organic. Averie will coach you throughout the session, giving you direction and actions to make you feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera.

    Run for the hills - she's a scam

    I'm writing this review to protect other couples from the experience we had. We paid in full for a two-photographer package and a wedding album. On our wedding day, only one photographer showed up (Averie) -- we were never notified in advance, and she acted like it was teh first she had heard of there being 2 photographers expected, despite our contract clearly outlining our payment for it. The wedding album has also never been delivered - but more concerningly, she went completely radio silent on us since. Phone disconnected. Emails unanswered. Texts, LinkedIn messages, and Instagram DMs .... all ignored. There has been zero communication, zero accountability, and zero attempt to make this right. When I dug into it, I saw there are multiple facebook groups and reddit threads warning other couples of her behavior - she's apparently been taken to small claims court multple times, which is the stage we're in today. If you are considering booking this photographer for your wedding, please take this seriously. We wish someone had warned us. Do not hand over a deposit. and research (her multiple names, identities, and busiesses) thoroughly before booking. We are not the only couple with an experience like this.

    Timeless Photos and Exceptional Talent!

    Averie from Towards the Moon Photography was absolutely incredible! She captured the magic of our spring formal wedding beautifully—every detail, emotion, and vibrant color shines through in her photos. Her warm and professional approach made us feel so comfortable, and the results were beyond what we could’ve hoped for.     Simply the best shots - beyond expectations

    Averie is a really wonderfully creative photographer. If you're looking for gorgeous candid shots along with your standard shot list she's your girl. Engagement shoots can be part of her package which is highly recommended. She traveled to our location to shoot and we just loved the shots. She kept our timeline going on our wedding day and made it a point to get everything we wanted and more. She is so fun and really made us feel comfortable in front of the camera - we're very awkward. Her work just speaks for itself and she has the resources to make your journey smooth and so worth doing. We also booked her and her business partner for a photobooth so it really is the whole package!

Real wedding inspiration featuring Towards The Moon

Typically, couples book me about 13 months before their wedding date. I encourage you to reach out as soon as possible about my availability, even if you’re planning on a shorter time frame.
I recommend first booking in a meeting or video/phone call with me. After we’ve discussed your wedding details i’ll send you over a proposal and booking form. Once that is signed we ask for a 50% deposit to secure your date with us.
Wedding photography from Jan-July will be delivered in 6-8 weeks and films in 8-12 weeks. Wedding photography from August -December will be delivered in 8-12 weeks and films in 12-16 weeks.
For photography we have two Canon 5d mark 4s. We have 24mm, 35mm, 100mm, 85mm and 100mm lenses. For video we shoot on both the Canon 5d mark 4 & Panasonic Lumix G5’s. We shoot with a mix of Voigtlander & Canon lenses and use a variety of stabilizers. We also have a DJI Mavic Pro Drone.
I prefer to choose the music myself but if you have your heart set on something I ask you send that with at least 5 other options so I can work out what will go best with tempo/vibe etc. I’ve made a Spotify playlist of songs I have used in the past/songs I want to use if you want to check it out for some inspiration.
A first look is a wedding life-saver. It calms you before the ceremony. It means you can enjoy your cocktail hour. It’s a beautiful set of wedding portraits full of charged emotion. It’s a private moment before your wedding for just you and your partner. I always recommend!!
