More Than Photos, She Captured the Day

From the moment I found Danieka Erasmus of Picturist Photography, I knew I wanted her to photograph our wedding. I was searching for photographers in the Monterey Bay area and came across her Instagram, and I immediately fell in love with the way she captured not only the beauty of the nature around her, but real, genuine moments between people. Her photos had this way of capturing the subtle, in-between moments, and that was exactly what I wanted for our wedding. From our first conversations, Danieka was incredibly sweet and so easy to talk to. We were planning a very small wedding, and the whole process could definitely be overwhelming at times. She helped give us a sense of what to expect photography-wise throughout the day and provided guidance when we needed it, which made everything feel so much easier. On the wedding day, she was amazing. She was professional, thoughtful, and incredibly attentive to detail. She captured things I wouldn't have even thought to ask for. Even our guests commented on how meticulous she was about capturing all the little details and really documenting the entire essence of the day. My husband and I also aren't people who naturally feel comfortable in front of a camera, but Danieka made it feel so easy. We never felt overly posed or awkward. She would give us just enough direction and then let us be together naturally, whether that was walking, talking, laughing, or just taking everything in. Some of my favorite photos are those moments where we were simply focused on each other and almost forgot the camera was there. One of the things I appreciate most is how many beautiful candid photos she captured of our guests. My husband and I were so wrapped up in each other that there was so much happening around us that we didn't get to see. Looking through our photos afterward and seeing our friends and family smiling, laughing, and genuinely having such a great time was incredibly special. Danieka gave us a chance to see our wedding from a perspective we never would have had otherwise. When we finally received our gallery and sat down to look through it together, it genuinely felt like reliving our wedding day from beginning to end. We got to experience the big moments again, but we also got to discover all these little moments we had missed. I could not be happier with our photos. Danieka didn't just photograph what our wedding looked like. She captured what it felt like. I am so incredibly grateful that we found her and that these are the photographs we'll have to remember that day for the rest of our lives.

Best Decision!!

I had read in a wedding magazine that you should hire a photographer who feels like a friend so that you are happy they are there on the day. Danieka met me for coffee in Monterey before we signed our contract and she was SO nice. Once we signed the contract, she started to send me recommendations for other vendors, suggested wedding timelines, and little pieces of advice she had picked up from other weddings (not too often - just 3-4 really informative emails throughout the year that we were planning and she was really responsive if I had questions). On the wedding day, she was prompt, really kind and struck an incredible balance between making sure that we had the pictures we wanted, but also that we were able to enjoy the day and not spend too much time taking pictures. I felt so happy she was there. Now, one week after our wedding, with just the pictures to look back on, we are SO happy that we booked her.

Most amazing photographer everything!!

It just got married this past April and Danieka was one of the best photographers I have ever worked with. I work in marketing and have done many shoots with various photographers over the years, and I have to say, Danieka was the most patient, professional and overwhelmingly talented photographer I have ever worked with. She was also sooo good with my family and friends on wedding day! We had a lot of last minutes changes and she was able to capture our day perfectly! Highly recommend her!!

Wonderful Photographer!

I worked with Danieka a couple of years ago at a wedding and had a wonderful experience! She is organized, personable, very easy to work with, and made my job as a wedding coordinator easy. Her work is stunning and her turnaround time is impressive. I would absolutely recommend Danieka!
