Before creating NLC Designs, Nancy was actually a weekend wedding warrior (one of those passionate souls who loved planning weddings for friends while holding a corporate job). Though she collected Martha Stewart Wedding issues, clipped out floral images from magazines, it wasn't really until after her own wedding to renowned San Francisco wedding photographer, Kevin Chin, that Nancy seriously decided to give the wedding business her full attention. Once she knew she wanted to do something with her hands, she worked a summer for respected calligrapher Michelle Papineau and later began apprenticing with floral guru Pico Soriano.

During these impressionable years that Nancy learned all about the art of making hand tied bouquets, boutonnieres and other detail floral pieces. Nancy Signature designs are American. Modern. Classic. As the years evolved, Nancy went back to her roots and evolved the wedding flower studio in Dogpatch into a floral and event production business(since she always loved the wedding planning process) Beyond just flowers, NLC Designs is dedicated toward creating events, not just beautiful floral creations. Turning a client's inspirations into a beautiful reality is what makes Nancy thrive.

    Backyard Wedding Dream Wedding

    My wedding planner Jess Haro recommended Nancy Liu Chin, and those two did a fantastic job putting everything together. When I first saw Nancy’s work, since most of her portfolio was based on huge events, I figured there was no way she would be interested in helping my small 14-person wedding and staying within our budget. Not only was I wrong, but Nancy was an intimate factor in making our day so special. She took my simple color scheme from a sample photo of a bouquet off of Pinterest and turned my parents backyard into a dream wedding. If you put my bouquet next to the sample photo, they look stunningly similar that it is hard even to tell them apart. Everything was so beautiful and elegantly put together; it brought tears to my eyes. The transformation was astounding, and I have never seen a more beautifully decorate arche in my life. I cannot recommend Nancy enough. She is a phenomenal person with such a big heart that does some very incredible work. So, if her work does not set apart, her sweet but kind and warm personality does.

Pricing is one of the hardest questions to answer. It's dependent on many factors including types of flowers, quantity of flowers, color and seasonality. But beyond the flowers, what we do is hand crafted. It's bespoke - so it takes many expert hands to create a unique piece. That is why price is such a hard thing to determine.
Based on information from the past several years, our floral design clients budget approximately $90 -$150 per guest for flowers before taxes and other costs. Another way to look at things is to budget 10 - 12% of your total budget on flowers if florals are a priority.
Depending on the event you may need more time to plan the details. We suggest for weddings that you should begin the floral process 8 months to 1 year from the event date.
Our team is made up of experienced set up people who have been trained by Nancy Liu Chin. Whether it is one of our designer or even our owner, Nancy Liu Chin, you will have an experienced team there to set up your flowers.
We limit the amount of weddings we do each year. Nancy selects up to 15 - 20 weddings per year. Each project is personalized and unique so we limit the amount of events each year.
