About Uncommon Unions

Uncommon Unions

Chef/Owner

Uncommon Unions started as a shift in how I wanted to cook and share food. I’ve spent years working in kitchens, and over time I realized what stuck with people wasn’t the most complicated dish. It was the one that felt thoughtful, well made, and actually enjoyable to eat. That’s what I try to bring into everything I do now. Cooking in a way that feels intentional, a little different, but still grounded and approachable. A lot of what I care about is how people experience food together. The energy around it, the way it brings people in, the moments it creates. That’s really what Uncommon Unions is built on.

What I do doesn’t follow a fixed format, and that’s intentional. Everything is built around the event and the people it’s for, rather than pulling from a set menu or package. It keeps things more personal, more flexible, and more reflective of what you actually want. I also like to bring an interactive element when it makes sense. Whether that’s cooking live or creating something guests can engage with, it adds an energy people naturally gravitate toward and makes the experience feel more memorable.

From Wellington to Crab Boil: Flawless!

We’ve had the privilege of having Chef Jacob cook for two of our family parties now, and to say he blew us away both times is an understatement. His talent and versatility are incredible—he can handle literally anything you throw at him. The Beef Wellington: For our first gathering, Jacob prepared a classic Beef Wellington. The beef was tender, the pastry was golden and crisp, and the depth of flavor was unmatched. Our guests are still talking about that meal. The Crab Boil: For our next party, we decided to switch gears completely with a custom Crab Boil, and Jacob delivered another total home run. It was fresh, packed with incredible flavor, beautifully presented, and made for such a fun, memorable gathering. He took a casual favorite and elevated it to a true fine-dining experience. Beyond the phenomenal food, what makes Jacob so special is the effortless hospitality he brings into your space. He takes care of every single detail—from prep to immaculate cleanup—allowing you to actually sit back, relax, and enjoy your loved ones. Whether you’re looking for refined classic technique or a fun, vibrant feast, Jacob does it all with style and grace. We will definitely be booking him for every family milestone moving forward!

Excellent service from start to finish

From our first conversation with Chef Jacob at Uncommon Unions, we knew we were in good hands. His communication was clear and educational—he took time to understand what we wanted and tailored everything to fit our vision, not what we thought a wedding dinner should look like. Having someone guide us through both our rehearsal dinner and wedding day meant we could stop stressing about food and start enjoying our celebration. On the actual day, Chef Jacob and his team delivered exactly what we hoped for: locally sourced, high-end dishes that felt fresh and nothing like typical wedding fare. Our guests couldn't stop talking about how good and FRESH the food was, and honestly, without a day of planner, having Uncommon Unions handle everything so smoothly was a huge relief. We're grateful for a vendor that made one of our biggest worries disappear.
