Butter& is a designer cake shop based in San Francisco, California and serving the Bay Area. Amanda Nguyen founded the company in 2017, determined to push the cake industry towards a more modern aesthetic, more nuanced flavors, using technology to create a better customer experience, and ethical treatment of food industry workers.

Our goal is to make booking the cake the easiest, and most fun, part of your wedding planning experience. Butter& believes in transparent pricing, so all prices can be viewed on our website and all orders are placed online. The team is always available via text and email when you have questions, and we have a "How It Works" section if you prefer to research at your own pace. We also offer delivery throughout the Bay Area. Pick from our storefront in San Francisco is also available.

    Beautiful, Flavorful, and a Seamless Experience

    We ordered Butter&’s Brown Butter & Meyer Lemon City Skyline Cake for our wedding reception, and it was absolutely perfect. The San Francisco skyline design was stunning—elegant, modern, and a meaningful nod to the city where we celebrated. It looked even better in person and made such a beautiful statement at our reception. The flavor was just as impressive as the design. The brown butter and Meyer lemon combination was light, balanced, and memorable. It was a wonderful alternative to a traditional wedding cake flavor and received compliments from our guests throughout the evening. The ordering process was incredibly easy. We were able to arrange everything in advance, and the Butter& team was responsive, organized, and great to work with. We also ordered a separate mini gluten-free cake for the bride (the Exposé 24K cake), which was just as beautiful and delicious. As someone with dietary restrictions, it meant so much to have a special cake that felt every bit as celebratory as the main cake. The entire experience was seamless from start to finish. Butter& provided updates as the cakes were being prepared, and they contacted us upon delivery so we knew everything had arrived safely. Every detail was handled professionally, and the cakes arrived exactly as expected. From the exceptional flavors to the stunning presentation and flawless customer service, Butter& exceeded our expectations. We would happily recommend them to anyone looking for a beautiful and delicious cake for a wedding or special celebration.

    The Perfect Wedding Vintage Heart Cake!

    We had a perfect experience with Butter& and could not have been happier with our wedding cake. One of our favorite parts of the process was trying the wedding sample box. It was such a fun experience and made choosing our flavor much easier. We both decided that the Lychee Raspberry flavor was our favorite. It was refreshing, flavorful, not overly sweet, and something we wouldn't normally choose - making it the perfect dessert for our wedding. We chose a vintage heart cake design since we were specifically looking for a beautiful cutting cake that could hold our figure cake topper, and it exceeded our expectations. The cake had beautiful height and presence, making it a stunning centerpiece that photographed incredibly well. It fit our vision perfectly and the delivery was seamless. We appreciated how the team reached out as well to confirm details and communicate important information. Most importantly, the cake tasted just as amazing as it looked. Even after the wedding, we continued enjoying leftovers for the next few days, and it remained fresh and delicious. It's rare to find a cake that is both visually stunning and memorable in flavor, but Butter& delivered on both. Thank you to the Butter& team for creating such a beautiful and delicious cake for our wedding day. We highly recommend them to any couple looking for a bakery that combines exceptional design with incredible and unique flavors.

    Beautiful and Delicious!

    We were so happy to have gone with Butter& for our wedding cake! The wedding cake sampler they have was helpful in choosing the flavor. The overall process of ordering, following up with questions and details, and delivery of the cake was flawless. They even had a cake tracker the day of the wedding which was awesome! All of our guests raved about the cake (and gluten free version too!) and it was truly perfect. From the taste to the visuals, we highly recommend Butter&!

    Delicious Cakes
