Heritage Park is a historic site that is operated by the City of Santa Fe Springs. The City has restored the buildings and grounds of an elegant ranch that prospered here in the late 1800's. The park also tells the story of the original people of this region, the Tongva/Gabrieliño Indians, in a dramatic exhibit nestled within the trees on the park's west side. At the entrance, visitors are greeted by a railroad exhibit featuring a vintage A.T.& S.F. steam locomotive. After being blacklisted during the McCarthy Era, Will Geer & his wife, fellow actress, Herta Ware, established Theatricum Botanicum in Topanga, California providing a safe haven for other blacklisted artists such as Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger. Supported by his botany background, the theatre thrived alongside a garden, sustaining the family. Geer's resurgence came with playing Grandpa Zebulon "Zeb" Walton in "The Waltons," leading to the formation of a non-profit theatre. Theatricum evolved into a professional repertory company, offering Shakespeare performances and concerts. Ellen Geer now leads the theatre, known internationally for its Shakespearean interpretations. With year-round classes, concerts, and outreach programs, Theatricum aims to nurture theatre enthusiasts in the Greater Los Angeles Metro area, carrying on Geer's legacy.
