Originally built in 1890, the mansion was rebuilt to original specifications in 1983 after a devastating fire. It served as a private residence until 2012 when it was purchased and refurbished, before offering private accommodations and wedding events.

Newhall Mansion, located in Piru, California sits atop a hillside nestled between two canyons, offering a distinctive venue from the norm. Located 30 miles north of Los Angeles, in the Heritage Valley known for its scenic views and rolling hills of groves, this castle-like mansion and its nine acres of gorgeous landscaping, provide a stunning environment for you and your guests to celebrate spectacularly. This Victorian Queen Anne mansion can host up to 300 event guests on the grounds. Inside, 8 guest rooms, including a top-floor 3,000sqft bridal suite, can accommodate up to 20 overnight guests. Other features include a dining room for rehearsal dinner, patio dining, historic library, ballroom, dressing room, underground tavern, complete with wine cellar, and entertainment lounge. The outside grounds feature a pool, cabanas and a firepit, as well as citrus and olive groves.

We couldn't have asked for a better experience working with the team at Newhall Mansion. From our first inquiry through the final details before our wedding day, they were responsive and easy to work with, answering every question we had without hesitation. The grounds are absolutely stunning, with manicured gardens and classic architecture that made for incredible photos. The indoor and outdoor spaces gave us flexibility for our celebration, and everything felt elegant without being over the top. Our guests kept commenting on how beautiful the venue was. We had no problem accommodating our large guest count for the big day either, we had a total of 285 guest, and it didn't feel cramped together at all. If you're looking for a venue with gorgeous backdrops and a team that actually listens to what you want, Newhall Mansion is the place.

A Venue Beyond Our Wildest Dreams
I am truly not even sure where to start with how magnificent Newhall Mansion was as a wedding venue. The house itself is breathtaking and truly showstopping -- my husband and I drove away from our first venue tour knowing beyond a shadow of a doubt that this was the place we were meant to be married. Every inch of the house is absolutely stunning. One of the hardest decisions we had to make was which backdrop to use for our ceremony, because there were no bad options! Our photographers had a multitude of options for backdrops and establishing shots for our wedding video. It gave every inch of California chic, but also eccentric old money, and every single touch was intentional and well thought out. Our menu was thoughtfully designed by Chef Giancarlo, and four months later my mother is still lamenting the fact that she did not bring home leftovers because the filet that we chose to serve was so spectacular. We LOVED the option for family style dining as it allowed for all of the best parts of a buffet (self-serve, dietary restrictions already accommodated, opportunity for seconds) with the elegance of a plated meal. Crystal, the venue manager, was thoughtful, kind, patient, considerate, and timely in all of her communication leading up to the wedding, and was on-site for the entire weekend. We LOVED having the chance to invite some of our closest friends and family to stay at the house with us the night before and the night of the wedding. Some of my most cherished memories from the weekend are from the night before and the morning after, where we were surrounded by the people who love us. It was also absolutely wonderful to be able to arrive a day early to get set up, and then have an extra morning to get everything packed up and ready to take home. And on the actual day of the event, the event staff were truly amazing. Under the leadership of Crystal, Giancarlo, and Rick, and the guidance of our INCREDIBLE day-of coordinators Melissa and Sandy (from Tricia Dahlgren Events, who I also highly recommend), the event ran without a single hitch. I never, ever thought that, as a type-A bride with a background in event planning, I would be able to put my phone down, unplug, and float through my day -- but I could!! I truly cannot say enough about Newhall Mansion. They set the perfect backdrop for my dream wedding, and I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone who is planning a unique, slightly quirky, but classy and chic wedding.

Worth the drive from anywhere
We looked at quite a few different venues across the state of California (from Piru all the way to Mendocino) and none of the others held a candle to how beautiful this venue is or how kind and helpful Crystal, the general manager, has been. We live in the Bay Area, so we relied heavily on Crystal’s recommendations for local vendors, all of whom were also excellent. The venue has a variety of ceremony sites, depending on your guest count and the vibe you’re going for. All of them are gorgeous. Every guest I talked to was completely blown away by this place. My favorite part of having our wedding here, though, was being able to spend the whole weekend with our wedding party. I feel like weddings are often really rushed affairs, where the people getting married barely get a chance to see even their closest friends and family. The hours surrounding our wedding were still a lot like this, but we also got to have breakfast and lunch and little moments throughout the day with our fiends that otherwise might have been spent driving or worrying about forgetting something at a separate hotel. Also the beds were way more comfortable than any hotel or airbnb bed I’ve stayed in recently. Not to mention the fact that the bridal suite is one of the dreamiest spaces I’ve ever hung out in.
