“Our Reunion-Style Wedding at Hawkesdene I’ve struggled to put this experience into words because so much can’t be fully captured. My husband and I feel incredibly grateful to have celebrated with family and friends at this stunning estate and charming town—truly the most fun experience! Reunion-Style Wedding for 100 Guests (No wedding package, no weekend venue rental, and we were legally married beforehand to enjoy the day stress-free.) Weekday Wedding: Sunday–Tuesday (Monday was a holiday). Full Estate Rental: We covered the entire property, including optional cabins, but skipped the wedding package so we could fully host guests. DIY Ceremony: No designated aisle or seating (just a few chairs for family). It turned out beautifully! No Decor Needed: The venue is breathtaking, so we skipped decorations. Floral Rentals: Used Something Borrowed Blooms—absolutely perfect. Incredible Food: Every meal was amazing (menu below). Cost: Clearly listed on their website—no hidden fees. Tip: Get event insurance when hosting at an estate. Unexpected things can happen, and it’s peace of mind for you and the next couple. We always envisioned a wedding weekend instead of a single day. Since we live far from family, we wanted quality time together. After extensive research (and almost giving up), we found Hawkesdene on VRBO while considering an elopement in the Georgia mountains. It was the only venue that allowed us to host guests while staying within budget. Itinerary Sunday Whitewater Rafting (10 AM): Nantahala with Carolina Outfitters (highly recommend!) Breweries (1:30–3:30 PM): Hoppy Trout (great private room) & Snowbird Mountains Brewery (provided kegs). Check-in (4 PM) Dinner (7 PM) Champagne Toast at the Peak (7:45 PM): ½-mile hike—steep but worth it! S’mores & Activities (9 PM) Monday Breakfast (8:30–10 AM) Waterfall Hike (10:30–11:30 AM): 1-mile in, 1 out—rain made it tricky but worth it! Lunch (12:30–2 PM) Lawn Games (1:30–3 PM) Ceremony (5:15 PM, DIY setup) Cocktail Hour (5:30 PM) Reception & Dinner (6:45 PM) Evening Activities (8:30 PM) Tuesday Breakfast (8:30 AM) Check-out (by 11 AM) The Food The food was phenomenal—to flawlessly cook this much fish deserves an award. We skipped a cake and were thrilled with the chef’s dessert selections. Menu: Salads: Greek & Balsamic Entrees: Salmon (Night 1), Honey-Balsamic Chicken (Night 1), Trout (Night 2), Steak (Night 2) Sides: Squash, Green Beans, Sweet Potato, Mac & Cheese, Asparagus, Broccolini Logistics & Final Thoughts Jami & Rob were fantastic. If you choose Reunion Style (no wedding package), be prepared to handle logistics yourself. It worked perfectly for us but isn’t for everyone. Their website outlines everything—read it carefully! Alcohol: We used Appalachian Beverage in Ellijay (they have everything). We provided a small amount of liquor, but most guests got their own—so refer back to my event insurance note! Soak it all in. This place is truly magical—like the Disney of wedding venues. We wouldn’t change a thing, and our guests still rave about it. Highly recommend for a unique and unforgettable wedding weekend!”

“Weaver House is a gorgeous venue supported by wonderful staff. From the beginning stages of planning to final touches to the day itself, we felt so well-taken care of and supported. The space itself is airy and elegant—both the lush gardens outdoors and the bright indoor spaces are immaculately maintained and feel very private despite being right off the main street of downtown Weaverville. We were looking for an indoor/outdoor location that felt sophisticated without being stuffy, and Weaver House fit the bill perfectly. While the beauty of the venue stands on its own, the team of individuals supporting Weaver House is what made our experience so wonderful. Alexandra was an immensely valuable asset to our wedding planning experience—she celebrates your vision for the day while providing great recommendations and expertly and calmly guiding you through all of the little details. She was a rockstar on our wedding day and made everything run seamlessly. Don't even bother looking for outside catering, because Chef Joey is incredible—he curated a fantastic BBQ dinner that our guests were talking about for weeks. His genuine passion and enthusiasm for food shines through in his cooking and in his collaborative and joyful process to menu planning. We could not recommend Weaver House more!”

“Henderson Acres is truly beyond anything we could’ve hoped for with our wedding venue. First their actual outdoor space and house is so beautiful it is straight out of a magazine- picture perfect. The decor and stone within the house is such an elevated look we were in awe of. They are constantly adding things to the space and not to add things you need to pay for but to offer plenty of things for you to enjoy to use during your day. For instance there was several items of decor we used from them that we decided day of to use and the flexibility of that is incredible. They have a reasonably priced furniture package that their venue staff helps set up on wedding day and they have a retractable tent in case of inclement weather. Next the staff is absolutely incredible. Seriously beyond kind, helpful, responsive, and authentically caring. Planning the wedding was a dream with them, and the staff the day of was beyond kind and helpful ensuring the day ran smoothly. An example, we had one guest who was in a wheelchair and had to have an uber come to the venue for pick up/drop off - the staff without being asked drove to the bottom of the driveway waited for the uber and personally escorted them to the top. That kind of hospitality was noticed by our guests who raved about their kindness. I could write about so many more amazing things this venue has to offer. We received countless (truly countless) compliments on this venue and the venue staff - from the beauty of the space to the kindness and authentic care everyone felt. Our photographer captured the day perfectly with such beauty and somehow you’re still amazed seeing the space in person. I think there is something special about a family owned business and this venue is a prime example of it! Without a doubt the best decision we made in our wedding planning was booking Henderson Acres after so much searching - couldn’t recommend more!!!!”

The Villa is a spacious estate home that can be used to celebrate your big day. Its spacious lawn and gardens can host events for groups up to 75 people. Rental of the Villa for an event includes the use of its outdoor spaces, plus numerous photo locations on the 85-acre property. We can also include lodging in the five-bedroom Villa for up to 12 people, ceremony and reception furnishings, and day-of services. (We are there to support you through every step of your day!) We also have additional lodgings on the property in our treehouse cabins that can be rented as lodging. We love the opportunity to host family groups who use the whole property. It sets a totally different tone for the weekend when you have the extra time and space to be together for more than just the ceremony. This is the kind of experience that we specialize in. “We got married at Stony Woods Estate during the weekend of Hurricane Helene. This storm devastated WNC in ways that are hard to put into words. Entire roadways, bridges, and towns were washed away, leaving communities isolated and in crisis. We chose Stony Woods because our families and friends were going to be traveling from out of state. Stony Woods offered the perfect setup. In addition to the main villa, the property has several beautiful/modern cabins within walking distance. As the storm wreaked havoc on the surrounding areas, 24 of us, including young children and elderly relatives—hunkered down at SW for 3.5 days, waiting for a safe route out. Despite the devastation around us, we were incredibly fortunate. Stony Woods sits high enough up the mountain that the venue remained mostly untouched, aside from a few downed trees and the loss of power/running water. The property became a sanctuary offering stunning mountain views once the storm passed. These moments of natural beauty provided comfort and healing as we navigated the chaos. When the situation turned dire, Kim and Steve stepped up in ways we never expected. They brought us vital supplies—diapers, baby wipes, food, water, and more. Their kindness and support were a lifeline while there. We had planned for a wedding with 75 guests, complete with vendors but of course, none of that happened. We didn’t have our full wedding party. Even our officiant, had no way of reaching us/vice versa. We didn’t know if she was safe, let alone if she’d be able to officiate our ceremony. Amid the uncertainty, Kim asked if we still wanted to get married and if there was anything she could do to help. With everything going on, the thought of still having our wedding seemed almost impossible. I replied, “We don’t even have an officiant.” To my surprise, Kim told me that Steve is ordained. She reassured me that if we wanted to move forward with the ceremony, Steve would happily step in. The morning of our wedding, everyone on the property—including Kim and Steve —came together to make it happen. My stepmother did the decor so we had them with us, My SIL did my hair in an RV outlet, and my MOH did my makeup with whatever we had. We used a BT speaker to play whatever songs we already downloaded on our phones. I don’t even remember what song played as I walked down the aisle, but it was perfect. For our reception meal Kim and Steve made a giant batch of spaghetti over their fire pit since we still had no power/were running low on food. Somehow, they also managed to bake a wedding cake—SO THOUGHTFUL. Despite the lack of vendors, guests, and traditional wedding elements, our people came together to create such a special day – a true testament to the power of community and love. The cherry on top? Our photographer, Ashley Sieg, miraculously made it to us with no cell service and no idea if we were still having a wedding. She captured stunning photos that we will cherish forever. Kim and Steve were more than just venue hosts; they were our lifeline during a harrowing weekend. Their generosity, resourcefulness, and genuine care made all the difference. From bringing supplies to officiating our ceremony, we couldn’t have done it without them. Stony Woods Estate is a breathtaking property. But beyond its beauty, this place holds a special magic. If you’re on the fence about booking your wedding here, do it. You won’t regret it! Don’t be surprised if Kim and Steve become a lasting part of your story.”
