As a wedding planner, I have the opportunity to work with a lot of wedding venues throughout the area and my experience at The Armory was nothing other than perfect. The team was responsive to all vendors, including a demanding (and rude at times) caterer, and offered a lot of flexibility to my clients about how they wanted the room set up, and how they wanted the timeline to flow - it truly felt as though we were being welcomed into their space and guided through the process vs. some other spaces we've worked with that felt restrictive and controlling. Overall, if you're looking for a creative space that you can transform to whatever you want it to be, this is the space for you.

The Multicultural Arts Center

5.0

Cambridge, MA
  • Up to 150 guests
  • Raw space
  • Indoor & outdoor
  • Starts at $4,600

This Victorian treasure was built in the late 1880s, and originally served as the county courthouse. It’s been lovingly restored, and boasts a two-story theater space with an exquisitely embellished ceiling and wraparound mezzanine balcony. In the warmer months, ceremonies may be held in Centanni Courtyard. This airy outdoor space continues the historic feel of the Arts Center with lawns, a large arbor, and brick pathways. Your rental fee helps support the Center’s mission: to educate the community about diversity through the presentation of multicultural arts programs, and to make the center available to artists and groups who may not otherwise have access to a professionally equipped space.

Awarded Best of Zola
We held our wedding reception at the Multicultural Arts Center in Cambridge, and it was a beautiful venue to host our event. The space was a perfect size for our event with 125 guests, and the ceiling is a showstopper. The building is right on the small city park, Centanni Park, which is such a nice little green space in East Cambridge. The staff was friendly and easy to work with and helped us to create our dream reception. One thing to keep in mind when picking this venue is that you have to select from a list of preferred vendors for catering, and they will need to rent all of the plates, cutlery, glassware, catering supplies etc since the venue does not provide these items. Their list of caterers to choose from is a great list, but the extra cost of these rentals should be remembered when budgeting your event.

Cambridge Boat Club

5.0

Cambridge, MA
  • Up to 120 guests
  • Raw space
  • Indoor & outdoor
  • Starts at $4,000

Cambridge Boat Club is a social and rowing club, located on the banks of the Charles River overlooking Eliot Bridge. Originally built in 1909, CBC was picked up in its entirety and rolled upstream to its current location in 1947, to make room for the building of Memorial Drive. Featuring vaulted ceilings and dark exposed beams akin to a ski chalet, and double french doors opening to a full length veranda, CBC offers a unique, rustic setting for any event.

The Cambridge Boat Club was the perfect choice for our New England fall-themed wedding! It is an absolutely gorgeous location on the river with just the right amount of historic charm. We had originally considered going with all-inclusive venues, but ultimately opted for the flexibility we had with the CBC to craft our own vision. The venue features two distinct rooms, a larger room called the Drinkwater room, which can be used for the wedding dinner, the Club Room, which was used for cocktail hour and the dance floor, and a porch, which has a stunning view. The layout perfectly accommodated both the party enthusiasts and our more introverted guests, who preferred quieter spaces for rest and socialization away from the dance floor. Opting for this venue requires a more DIY approach compared to all-inclusive options. Since it is a historic building, there are some restrictions to be aware of, e.g. no sparklers or ceiling drapery, and existing wall decor generally need to stay on the wall. This was no issue for us since we had a clear vision for the wedding theme and decor, and enlisted the help of Tastings Catering (highly recommend, since they have previous experience working in this space and also handle some of the decor) and Designlight. Major shoutout to Katie Donnelly, the club manager at Cambridge Boat Club, who always responded in record time to all our inquiries and provided helpful guidance. With everyone's help, we were able to create the wedding of our dreams!

Long Hill

4.8

Beverly, MA
  • Up to 150 guests
  • Raw space
  • Outdoor
  • Starts at $6,000

Elegant plantings and cultivated grounds fill this public garden with vibrancy that's more than a century in the making. Long Hill is a property of The Trustees of Reservations, a Massachusetts non-profit corporation. From 1916 to 1979, Long Hill was the summer home of noted author and editor of The Atlantic Monthly, Ellery Sedgwick. He summered here with his first wife, Mabel Cabot Sedgwick, an accomplished horticulturist, gardener, and author of The Garden Month by Month, and his second wife, Marjorie Russell Sedgwick, a rare plants specialist—both of whom created a delightful, enchanting landscape, surrounded by more than 100 acres of woodland. Today, visitors delight in the beauty of Long Hill’s structured and naturalistic gardens as well as a network of woodland trails. A diverse collection of trees, shrubs, and distinctive perennial plants provide color during the growing season, peaking in May and June and providing structure and beauty throughout the year.

I want to share an enthusiastic recommendation for Long Hill as a wedding venue. The experience we had at this venue for our wedding was nothing short of extraordinary, and we believe it would be the perfect setting to create cherished memories for your own celebration. From the moment we set foot onto the grounds of Long Hill, we were transported to a world of unparalleled beauty and historical significance. The meticulously maintained gardens, boasting vibrant blooms and a serene ambiance, provided a captivating backdrop that exceeded our wildest dreams. Every corner of the venue emanated enchanting charm and timeless elegance. What truly sets Long Hill apart is the rich heritage that permeates its every facet. The venue's historical significance adds a layer of grandeur and a sense of reverence to any event hosted there. Celebrating our union in a space that has witnessed countless love stories over the years was a truly humbling and awe-inspiring experience. The architectural splendor, period details, and overall ambiance of the venue added an extra touch of charm and created an atmosphere that will linger in our memories forever. We would also like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated staff who tirelessly maintain the breathtaking gardens. Their commitment and hard work contribute to the picturesque setting that made our wedding day so extraordinary. Their attention to detail and the impeccable upkeep of the venue truly enhance the overall experience for guests and make every event a resounding success. The compliments we received from our guests about the beauty and historical significance of the venue were numerous. The memories we created within the enchanting gardens will forever hold a cherished place in our hearts, and we feel truly privileged to have celebrated our love in such a remarkable space.

Four Winds Farm Events

5.0

Peterborough, NH
  • Up to 150 guests
  • Raw space
  • Indoor & outdoor
  • Starts at $5,000

Four Winds Farm is a family-run boutique events space that centers around an antique barn. The barn is decked out with antique decor and has two large fireplaces to help create a cozy New England autumn wedding atmosphere. Four Winds Farm is over 300 acres of land in Southern New Hampshire including forests, rolling hillsides, mountain-views, a wetland beaver pond, and all the fall foliage your guests can handle. Our barn was converted from housing animals to being a center for theater and productions in the early 1900s and features a fantastic backdrop from a 1920's production. It is lit up with market lights and optional lanterns. We provide round tables and chairs to be set up however you choose, and we can accommodate whatever vendors and catering you prefer. We offer overnight lodging in our Hill House and Log Cabin as an additional package, and we include adjacent cottage rooms for your bridal prep. Check out our website for the full scope of our offerings.

Hi; If you want authentic New England wedding, Four Winds Farm is it. We looked at a lot of places and there are some great ones, but nothing has the authenticity and variety that this venue has - the barn, the wood-paneled sun porch, the huge house on the hill, the giant maple tree, the gardens, the trails - you'll want to get married twice (to the same person of course) - the possibilities are endless. Its at the end of a dead end road on an old apple orchard so it feels really private. We stayed for the whole weekend and had people camp and stay if they wanted to - there's extra bedrooms for family or friends. It really felt like there was no one there but our wedding party, and we were encouraged to use the entire property (like I said there are trails and lots of beautiful places to explore and hang). It was seriously amazing, more than we could have imagined!

Stonehouse On The Hill

5.0

Holden, MA
  • Up to 175 guests
  • Raw space
  • Indoor & outdoor
  • Starts at $1,000

Experience the charm and elegance of our classic country estate wedding and event venue. Discover the perfect backdrop for your special day, surrounded by picturesque Nestled in the secluded countryside of Holden, Massachusetts. Stonehouse is over 125 years old, built in the late 1800’s. It was originally built as a stucco home, in what was an area of parceled farms. Over time, the house was expanded and was eventually converted into a stone estate. The house fell into disrepair and in 1994, came into our guardianship. We have been working ever since to return it to its former glory. Stonehouse, with its arched windows, and open porches, would serve as a picturesque backdrop for any function. The country estate sits on ten acres above the Holden Reservoirs, surrounded by a forest filled with old beech and birch trees. Stonehouse offers a serene event space surrounded by nature.

My husband and I got married at Stonehouse On The Hill in October 2007. The whole day from start to finish was a fairytale. The guests still rave about how beautiful the property was and how much fun they all had dancing the night away. You cannot beat fall in New England. If you want an unforgettable, romantic, unique wedding Stonehouse is for you!
