How much do wedding & reception venues cost?

The cost of wedding venues varies, with factors influencing cost including size, location, guest count, and, most importantly, whether things like catering and rentals are included. The more a reception venue near you includes, the higher the cost. When considering venues, try to compare prices apples-to-apples. If one venue includes catering and rentals in their pricing and the other doesn’t, you need to figure out how much additional cost those outside vendors would be to make a true comparison. Before booking, be sure you’re aware of additional costs outlined in your contract, like parking fees and weather-related considerations (adding a tent, etc.).

What questions should we ask wedding venues?

When talking with a potential venue, always ask about 1) their availability and 2) their capacity. Some popular venues book up peak season Saturdays nearly 2 years in advance—if your first choice date isn’t available, consider your flexibility on day of the week and year. While maximum capacity is non-negotiable, venues might have guidance on what guest count will be most comfortable. Also, you’ll want to understand what is and is not included in the venue’s fees. Some include catering, tables and chairs, and linens, while others offer just the raw space. These venues are often less expensive because you are only paying for the space itself, and you’ll have to bring in outside vendors

“Milestone Denton was the first venue we toured and the only one we needed. Booking was easy and pricing was transparent, and when we met our coordinator, Melissa, our wedding vision came to life. Her knowledge and attention to detail from day one was astounding. From resources to find sparklers, to suggestions on table layout, to just making sure our wedding was unique to us, she knew everything! And on the day of, Melissa was even more amazing. Every detail of our day was perfect. She even noticed that my dress was on the puffier side and personally moved all the chairs and florals to widen the aisle for me. “We couldn’t have been happier with our experience at Deity. The space is really eclectic in the best way. It balances elegance with a little Brooklyn quirk, especially in the cocktail hour room, which all of our guests loved. From start to finish, the planning process was simple and straightforward. You have one big meeting where everything gets laid out. After that, Anastasia, Caio, and the rest of the team were always quick to respond to emails when we needed to make adjustments. They were professional, organized, and made sure both we and our families felt taken care of throughout the day. Having almost everything in-house (e.g., everything less flowers, cake, photography) also made the whole process less stressful. Compared to other venues we looked at, Deity felt like a value and a way to make our guests feel like they were having an "authentic" NYC/Brooklyn wedding. The food and drinks were another highlight. The short rib was especially memorable, and the bar staff worked with us to create custom cocktails and pre-batch them so no one was stuck waiting in line. The DJ was flexible with our specific music tastes and vision for the evening and collaborated seamlessly when we brought in a drag queen for dinner, which turned into a huge hit with our guests. I’d also recommend booking the couple’s suite. It gave us a place to relax, get ready, and even host a pool party that added a really fun element to the day! Relaxing with our wedding guests earlier in the day was a really great way to connect with folks. Overall, Deity delivered on every level. “Living in AZ a majority of wedding venues are desert landscaped, which is beautiful but not something I was looking for. I also noticed while looking at other venues the background of the ceremony had buildings or houses that were visible in the pictures, again, not something I was looking for. After months of searching I came across Venue at the Grove and absolutely fell in love just by looking at the pictures alone. I set up a tour and let me tell you pictures do not do that place justice. Seeing it in person during the day and at night with all the trees lit up is absolutely beautiful!! The venue is all inclusive which helped tremendously because during that year leading up to the wedding I can honestly stay I was stress free (minus the seating chart lol) Communicating with the staff was great and their timelines getting back to me about all my questions was always right away. Trinity was our coordinator for wedding day and she was truly an angel.”

“Getting married at The Lake House Inn was the best decision ever. The ceremony area by the lake was breathtaking—I felt so calm and happy standing there. The bridal suite with those views was perfect for photos and just soaking in the morning with my girls. The ballroom looked beautiful, and the huge cocktail hour area let everyone move around easily. “We got married here on Sunday 9/29 and I really can’t say enough good things about this space. The team was great to work with and all of our guests were so impressed by the space because it’s not like anything else really. I LOVED having the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all in one room because we wasted almost no part of our day shepherding folks from place to place. The caterer recommended to us, Premier, was also amazing and they were on it and had many great suggestions to make the day as great as possible as they work in the space often. If you want outdoor photos before we found two great little parks to work with and ended up doing our first look and family portraits at “Leather City Commons” which is a three minute drive down the street. Then the two of us walked the ten minute walk back to Olio from there and got some great photos by Peabody City Hall and there are truly a plethora of great brick walls to choose from for a good backdrop! For getting ready we stayed at the Bell Inn and Tavern and their team was also amazing! I got ready in a Junior King Suite my parents were staying in and their team flipped the bridal suite early (as they had a wedding party the night before) so we could do bridal portraits with the moms and my sister. My husband and I stayed there that night and the room is gorgeous. My only regret with that space is we didn’t stay longer because it was so beautiful!!! (And the room service food we ordered from the tavern for lunch was great!) Shout out specifically to Kelsey and Heather for all of their help. Logistically I was a little nervous about it being in Peabody as we live closer to Boston but parking is free on Sundays and folks could Uber easily to the venue. Many out of town folks loved being able to stay near Salem to make it a great weekend trip. Last, I cannot recommend enough having a day of coordinator. I know Sarah who runs Olio has her own planning company and would be amazing to work with. I was lucky enough to have an amazing coworker and friend who helped me out and I literally gave him a binder with everything and I did not stress about anything for the entire day. I did not see my cell phone or get asked a single logistics question all day and it was GLORIOUS. I think that covers everything and will absolutely update if I think of anything else that can help out future brides considering this great space!!!”

“I had such a wonderful experience having our wedding at Summit. Everything from the first visit to the ceremony was smooth and well done. The owners Russel and Leta are amazing, down to earth people and their whole family helps out with the wedding process. They are so kind, companionate, and really welcoming to their property. Being an all inclusive venue..Becca (the planner who is also so so sweet!!) will walk you through everything you need to start planning and connects you with all the vendors, gives recommendations, as well as works with your coordinator (Susan) to have your wedding be the night of your dreams. The decorator and bartender, Sam, has the most wonderful personality and really knows how to set a table and the mood to keep guests happy. Everyone whom i dealt with was inviting, warm and accommodating to any and every need we had; even going out of their way for a few. This family is the ideal need for any kind of wedding or special event you could ask for. They have just about everything to make your vision come to life with how you want your reception to look and be. So many decor options to choose from and even a Pinterest board to visualize it. The pictures definitely doesn't do this venue justice with how beautiful and amazing it truly is. From the mountain view to the draped barn; it really is breath taking. I chose October to have the leaves changing for my photos and was blown away by how beautiful it all was cast against the blue mountains when i walked up day of. Believe me when i say it definitely is a sight to see in person. Other things include: being handicapped accessible, aiding those who need it to get to the barn from the connecting gravel parking area, lawn games to play while the couples are taking photos, four different bathrooms connected to the barn, patio and smoking areas, and plenty of open room for dancing, rental house on site for wedding party/family (which is also a gorgeous little home). I cannot express how thankful i am to have found and had the pleasure of having my wedding at Summit Farms. I highly recommend this venue. At the turn of the century the company faced a crisis: the site of their mill would be flooded to form the Wachusett Reservoir. Instead of abandoning the mill, the company dismantled it brick by brick and shipped it to its new home in Easthampton, where it was rebuilt on the banks of the Lower Mill Pond. Now, a century later, The Boylston Rooms retains the integrity of the 1814 original mill in every brick and beam. Our rental includes planners and decor at no added cost. “I cannot say enough about how AMAZING The Boylston Rooms was for my wedding!!! If you are looking for the perfect New England wedding in an old industrial building then THIS is the place for you. The best part is it’s a dedicated wedding venue. It is their entire job to throw the best weddings ever. They have a room FULL of decorations to choose from. They provide tableware, different colored table cloths and napkins, faux greenery and candles, drapery, arbors, card boxes, picture frames, etc. There are dedicated bridal and grooms suites with a lock code to keep your items safe. Fun settings around the building for photo sessions. Two beautiful rooms for the ceremony and reception. A beautiful patio for cocktail hour as long as weather permits. A dedicated catering kitchen attached to the reception room who will cater to all dietary needs!! I have celiac disease and they provided an entire gluten free buffet for my guests and EVERYTHING was delicious. Not to mention the staff!! Erin and Myles are the BEST!!! Seriously love them so much and could not rave enough about how fabulous they are and made sure my husband and I had the best day ever. You will not be disappointed if you get married here!”

“Can’t overstate what an incredible experience we had with the Oviatt. Not only was the venue perfect for wedding, but the staff truly made the entire planning and day-of experience so smooth and welcoming. The space is gorgeous and one-of-a-kind - we didn’t have to decorate at all, there were so many little spaces and pockets guests to explore and mingle in, all the original art deco decor and furnishings were so cool. We didn’t have to add anything (but could have brought in outside rentals and vendors if we wanted) - the venue rental includes seating for the ceremony and reception, the rooftop lounge was fully furnished was lounge furniture, the terrace is already decorated with bistro lighting, twinkle lights and ivy walls, and there is lounge seating throughout the indoor space. Also included were cocktail tables, easels for signage, tables for our buffet set up. All of these things at other venues we looked at were either additional costs or we’d have to bring in additional vendors to supply. What really made the experience though was the Oviatt staff - Lindsey and Gabe are both so friendly, approachable, welcoming and supportive. Other venues we looked at were all business, had a “take it or leave it” vibe and kind of made us feel like we should be grateful for even to be given the chance to have an event there; Lindsey and Gabe were the exact opposite - they weren’t just trying to rent out a space, they were helping us host our wedding and doing everything they could to make sure our plans were realized. They provided us with so much information beyond what was required of them - they had a whole packet with a suggested timeline for planning, a Planning Pod tool that enabled us to track our vendors and plan out our floorplans and seating charts, lists of vendors we needed to consider and decisions we needed to make. Gabe had an actual meeting with us to discuss what we were looking for in a venue and our wedding, and have is all of this information we even booked the space. Lindsey followed up with us periodically in the months leading up to the wedding to remind us of what we needed to be taking care of and making sure we were on track. Both of them were always generous with their time answering our many questions and being flexible in accommodating our requests. We felt so supported and cared for throughout the entire process, and felt more like we had friends in our corner than like we were coordinating with a vendor. Truly cannot say enough about how wonderful this team is and how appreciative we are. We looked at practically every venue in the downtown/northeast LA area, and this one not only blew away the competition in what they offered, but it was also the most affordable option! It’s really like having the efficiency of an all-inclusive venue without the restrictions. And of course all of our guests loved it - we are still getting comments on how unique and beautiful the space was, and how much everyone enjoyed having so many different spaces to explore and congregate throughout the evening. Best decision we could have made.”

“Choosing the Red Barn for our wedding venue was the best decision we made!! The venue is absolutely gorgeous, the staff and on-site coordinators are absolutely incredible, and everything was so seamless from beginning to end, from the planning stages to the wedding day. Our venue coordinator Emily was a dream—she was so easy to work with and made the process a breeze: After we booked all our vendors ourselves and planned all our details, we met with Emily multiple times to talk about the day-of, and she was there on-site to make sure everything went smoothly (including setting up our decor, cuing the music and recessional/processional for our ceremony, keeping the timeline on track, and handling everything else that came up during the wedding day). Our day was absolutely perfect! She’s a superstar! For the venue itself, we can’t recommend it enough. The reception space is stunning, the foyer area for cocktail hour was perfect, and there’s a bridal suite for the bride/groom and bridal party. Staying at their sister property, the Stage House Inn gave us access to a shuttle service to and from the inn to the venue, which made the wedding day so easy (and the hotel is great!) We didn’t use the outdoor spaces as much because we got married in December, but we took some photos and the golf course and brick architecture were perfect backdrops. Overall, we really cannot recommend the Red Barn enough. From the absolutely amazing, friendly and welcoming staff (from the sales team to coordinators to catering and bar staff) to every single detail, we’re so happy with our wedding! If you’re considering booking the Red Barn, do it!”

Our Farm sits on 54-Acres in Bucks County. Our Seed Barn was originally built back in the 1820's. Our Seed Barn was restored in the Summer of 2016 & seats 160-200 people. Attached to the back of the Seed Barn is a beautiful deck that overlooks the ceremony site. In the lower level of the Seed Barn is our Groom’s Suite! Here you will find a pool table, TV, lounge seating area & more. In 2020 we built our Harvest Barn attached to the Seed Barn through a breezeway. This is home for our commercial kitchen, on-site bathrooms, smaller event space and bridal suite. Lastly, we have a Farm-to-Table bakery onsite for your dessert table & custom wedding cake. The Farm is truly a wonderful place to host your big day! Our goal is to work with each couple to carry out their vision for the day! What is great about The Farm is it truly can be anything you would like it to be, from a backyard barbecue to a beautiful sit down farm-to-table dinner! We would love to serve you on your Wedding Day.

Nazareth Hall is known throughout the region as a banquet and wedding facility, but it’s the rich history and lush setting that draws people here. Built in 1927 as an all-boy Catholic boarding school. It eventually evolved into a renowned military school for boys. Throughout its history the school stayed true to its Catholic roots and the nuns who served and taught here. Operating until 1982 the stories written within its walls are still told today. Re-emerging with a new mission and purpose in April of 1991, Nazareth Hall was reborn. It is in this picturesque place, reminiscent of castles of old, that brides come to be married and celebrate with family and friends in grand ballrooms. The classrooms and meeting spaces offer the perfect vintage background for business training sessions, and the manicured lawns have been host to numerous parties and festivities.
