How much do wedding & reception venues cost?

The cost of wedding venues varies, with factors influencing cost including size, location, guest count, and, most importantly, whether things like catering and rentals are included. The more a reception venue near you includes, the higher the cost. When considering venues, try to compare prices apples-to-apples. If one venue includes catering and rentals in their pricing and the other doesn’t, you need to figure out how much additional cost those outside vendors would be to make a true comparison. Before booking, be sure you’re aware of additional costs outlined in your contract, like parking fees and weather-related considerations (adding a tent, etc.).

What questions should we ask wedding venues?

When talking with a potential venue, always ask about 1) their availability and 2) their capacity. Some popular venues book up peak season Saturdays nearly 2 years in advance—if your first choice date isn’t available, consider your flexibility on day of the week and year. While maximum capacity is non-negotiable, venues might have guidance on what guest count will be most comfortable. Also, you’ll want to understand what is and is not included in the venue’s fees. Some include catering, tables and chairs, and linens, while others offer just the raw space. These venues are often less expensive because you are only paying for the space itself, and you’ll have to bring in outside vendors

Our wedding day felt like pure magic, and it is truly thanks to the incredible team at this wedding venue. Our guests were in awe of the space, and we received so many compliments regarding the décor, drinks, food, photographer and overall experience. “I honestly don’t even know where to begin. Our experience with The Lakehouse—especially with Daniella—was nothing short of incredible. From the very start, when we were just debating whether to choose them as our venue, they were beyond helpful in finding a date and time that worked best for my now-husband and me. We're from Massachusetts but currently living in Arizona, so you'd think planning a wedding from across the country would be difficult. Not with Daniella. She went above and beyond to make sure I felt like I was getting the full red carpet experience despite the distance. She was always available to hop on a call, pulled strings behind the scenes to make everything perfect, and honestly felt more like a best friend throughout the entire process. I seriously begged her to just join the party at one point! If you’re on the fence about choosing The Lakehouse—do it. It’s worth every single penny. I could list a million things that went wrong during the overall planning process and even on the wedding day, but none of it had anything to do with Saphire Event Group. I also want to give a huge shoutout to Aubre and Cortney. While I didn’t work with them as closely as I did with Daniella, I met them the morning of the wedding and they instantly made me feel comfortable and welcomed. They advocated for me when I needed it, provided reassurance, and made me feel like I was their top priority the entire day. And yes—it rained on my wedding day. But I loved this venue so much that being inside didn’t even faze me. The transition from the outdoor setup to the indoor ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception was absolutely seamless. I honestly don’t know how this team operates with such perfection, but I’m telling you—they do. Thank you all for making me feel so supported and at home during one of the most vulnerable times in my life. And Daniella—a huge thank you for all your care, support, and empathy during the MAJOR bumps in the road. I truly don’t know what my wedding day would’ve looked like without you, I probably would've convinced Bryan top elope instead. “My husband and I got married at the CKE this October 2024. There aren’t enough words to express our gratitude to their entire team for all of their hard work to make our visions and dreams come to life. Each and every staff member was kind, and helpful. If you had a question you’d get a response promptly and always with a “let’s see what we can do attitude”. Katherine (the owner) made you feel a part of the CKE family and always was looking to make the planning process seamless and easy for us and our family. The CKE floral and design team made our big ideas all come to life- we had a visions of big branching centerpieces with florals tucked in, that Jess and her team absolutely delivered on. On top of that, we asked for an installation over our sweetheart table. Jess and her team have many suggestions and shared they visited Home Depot at least 3 times to see how it would hang, and the final installation beyond exceeded our expectations. The talent and grace their team exudes is what ever bride and groom look for in a team. The planning process was also so seamless due to their amazing coordinator team. We worked with Katrina, the kindest, most professional coordinator we have ever met. Katrina was available at every step of the planning process, providing thoughtful recommendations due to her very obvious experience. Katrina also was there for our wedding day of helping to manage the schedule, set up, constantly checking in, and making sure it all went according to plan (which it did). In addition during the reception Katrina was checking with us throughout the night to see if we wanted to pivot anything or if we needed anything. We are extremely grateful for her support! In addition, Kyle was our maitre d’ for the evening and he did an absolutely wonderful job. He made sure to check in with my husband and I as well as our immediate family members. He was so kind and professional! Lastly but very importantly- the food and drinks! Most of all of our guests shared that this was the best wedding food they have ever had. It is no small feat cooking for large groups and every aspect of the food from the cocktail hour to the dinner course was absolutely fantastic. These are a few quotes from guests: - “The food was gourmet.” - “This is the real deal.” - “The sushi… Oh, the sushi! So fresh!” In addition, the bartenders crushed it! Everyone was impressed by the quality of the drinks and we never had a line at the bar- they were fast and catered to our guests. I would highly recommend the CKE to future couples getting married. The aspect of the family business really shows and ensures you have a tailored experience for your wedding. The entire staff is kind and down to earth- always willing to help. We wish them nothing but the best for their future wedding seasons!”

Acres Landing / to getaway and gather for sanctuary and celebrations! One of the best things about Acres Landing is that you can have your event past 10pm outdoors, which is something that is very difficult to find in Palm Springs proper! Music can officially be played at our venue until 12am; we just have to turn off any outdoor speakers at 10pm. With the back doors of our small Clubhouse open to the venue, the volume in our imagined dancing space, the Pavilion, is full event volume! Bands can go until 10pm, and DJs can go until 12am. We have no cap on the amount of pieces you can have in a band. We require a buyout of our amazing vintage campers, along with a venue fee.

“Getting married at The Rose was truly one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. The venue itself is breathtaking.. it has so much history, character, and charm. It’s not just a place to host a wedding, it’s an experience. Many of our guests couldn’t stop talking about how unique and stunning the setting was, and how perfectly located it is. Everyone was kind, attentive, and on top of everything from the very beginning. We chose the Mexican buffet for dinner, and it was absolutely phenomenal.. our guests raved about it all night long. She is incredibly detailed and organized, and because of her, we never once felt the “wedding stress” that everyone warns you about. She made planning feel easy, enjoyable, and even fun. By the month of our wedding, we literally had nothing left to do, because Patricia had made sure everything was already taken care of. That sense of calm she gave us was priceless. “What is there to say! Five stars is simply not enough! Well for starters we just had our wedding at the Terraview on 10.19.24 and it was absolutely INCREDIBLE! There are simply not enough words to describe this venue and this entire atmosphere as well as planning process. Our coordinator was Barbara and she was fantastic. The entire year leading up to our wedding. There was nothing but amazing communication and help at every turn. They make the planning process for your event or wedding so easy and we were so grateful since we honestly had no idea where to begin. Everything was amazing on the day of and was perfect to beginning to end. There is not a thing that we would have changed about our wedding. From the decorations to the florals to the food, there was no detail left out. If you are looking for a truly unique and beautiful wedding or event space, I highly recommend this venue. The details of our day were so intimate and so carefully thought out by the entire team that we had working with us. We worked with the floral department and the bakery and the kitchen to create an amazing day. The transparency is second to none and we are forever grateful. They also have an on-site beauty studio where your hair makeup can get done and they were also fantastic to work with! Gina and her girls are truly talented and made my entire bridal party look stunning. My day of bridal attendant was Belkis and she is absolutely amazing. There was not one thing that we had questions on that she could not handle. She made sure that all the girls were eating. She made sure that I as the bride ate and was hydrated. She made everybody make sure that their dresses were perfect and during the getting ready portion, she was there for us 110% of the time helping with photos. Making sure that every detail on my dress was perfect. There are not enough words for her and I am profoundly grateful. After the ceremony, she insured that we had a drink in our hands and made sure that we were eating during our reception. She made sure that we were eating and brought us water on the dance floor and drinks on the dance floor and was just always at our side ready to help us. She is definitely an asset to this venue in so many ways. It is also close to the Scranton airport if you have guest coming from farther away. They have different venues on site (different sizes and styles) and it’s one event per day at each so you aren’t dealing with other parties. It is absolutely gorgeous. The ceremony sites are outdoors with gorgeous views and the reception rooms are beautiful. It is a family business and you do truly feel like family while working with them. I cannot say enough great things! It’s close to many hotels so getting blocks wasn’t an issue. You also get some rooms on site. You also get a wedding coordinator and a day or person who is well aware of you needs and wants! Our day was absolutely perfect beginning to end! They make it so easy to plan and stress free! Food was absolutely amazing and my guests have been raving since! I had a cocktail reception which I highly recommend exploring! They have their own full bakery so all desserts were also made by them! We are truly grateful for the entire team at the Stroudsmoor, who made our wedding day unforgettable and a day that our guests will talk about forever. This place is truly a hidden gem in the Poconos! Thank you so much everyone!”

“John, James and the team at SMCC are caring and supportive in making your big day dreams come true, without the stress! Every step of the process was clear, simple and catered to our vision. All staff go above and beyond to ensure all your needs are met, without fuss. SMCC was the perfect venue for our wedding, suitable to comfortably accommodate our large families, yet provide an intimate feel, complemented by the classic early 1900s architecture of the venue. The cocktail and bar area, spaced perfectly from the main hall and dancing area made for a great layout. We were even provided a bridal suite and were able to take advantage of the beautiful summer night and enjoy the lawn for cocktail hour and afterparty with fire pits and a food truck provided by the venue! John and his team at SMCC made our dreams come true, down to every detail, going above and beyond. Everything was personalized to our preferences from the food and drinks, to the layout of the event. James even sewed my father-in-law's pants when they ripped during the reception!!! A true Jack of all trades, and right hand man to have with you on your big day. “First off, the wedding coordinator MELISSA at The Milestone Denton is godsend and 10000% deserves a huge raise and fat bonus for the amount of work she does and is so helpful in the planning process. She was very honest and upfront during the entire planning process. I am very Type A and for once in my life it was nice to have someone else in charge and I fully trusted her. She even provides recommendations when you don’t know what you want and will be honest with pricing. If it weren’t for Melissa, I don’t know how the wedding would have gone and I would have been so stressed during the planning process. She is so awesome that she goes out of her way to do things for you (be nice everyone!) and is very responsive. She also helped with the reception layout with my divorced parents who do not get along with other family members and it was a success. MELISSA IS THE BEST!! The venue - BEAUTIFUL. We had our ceremony indoors which was nice because our guests were able to take pictures at the gabezo in the back during cocktail hour. If you do your ceremony outside at the gazebo, the guests won’t be able to have their little photoshoots. The entire venue is gorgeous and every corner is a photo-op. It’s a great venue if you have 150 or less people. The big windows everywhere were just so beautiful. The bridal suite is HUGE and beautiful and the grooms suite is upstairs and has a tv and pool table. Perfect for the boys! The food, bar and DJ - everything was great and explained throughly by Melissa so expectations were set and made based on what tier and package you purchased I did not use the Walter Weddings photographer, florists or cake designer so I can’t speak to that. One downfall was on the day of the wedding with Melissa’s day of partner, Allison. She is super sweet and helped steam my bridal gown and Matron of Honor’s dress, which I’m so appreciative of. But I guess she didn’t communicate well to the staff on what needed to be done that day because there were several mishaps that shouldn’t have happened. The ceremony room was incomplete and she didn’t give me the chance to see how the front tables looked. I purchased 100 of bouquet flowers and ribbons that were supposed to be tied to each seat which I was told could be done since it was a simple task to tie 3 flowers and a bow on each aisle chair. This was not done so that small detail from my ceremony room seem bland and a waste of money. The front tables weren’t done how I wanted and it was chaotic having presents with our guestbook and our wedding sign. We wanted to utilize the buffet type table in the front room for presents so it’s not so cluttered when you walk in. Also, a lot of my items were not used for cocktail hour. After the wedding, I noticed the box was opened but she did not use what I purchase and the display for cocktail hour looked like a “backyard bbq” according to my guests. I was so disappointed because I had custom items and “backyard bbq” did not fit the vibe of “old Hollywood glam” of the wedding. Other than the day of mishaps, I highly recommend doing your wedding at Milestone Mansion Denton and having Melissa as your coordinator. GIVE HER A HUGE RAISE, Walter Weddings!!! She’s top notch and deserves it!”

“We are so thankful for Jordan and the entire Willowdale Estate team for helping to coordinate and run the most incredible wedding for us. We first fell in love with Willowdale Estate when we first toured thanks in particular to Anna Schirripa who walked us through the property, including the getting ready spaces, beautiful ceremony courtyard, cocktail space and of course the tent for reception. We could see early on that Willowdale could accomplish the vision we were looking for. Anna then followed up by mailing us their famous chocolate chip cookies which helped seal the deal! Anna’s thoughtfulness and responsiveness to all of our questions (rain plan, food options, wheelchairs accessibility, vendors, etc.) gave us the confidence that Willowdale Estate was the right venue for us and we could not have been more correct. Working with Jordan in the weeks leading up to our Wedding day, we could tell she was the perfect person to help us stay calm and present during our wedding day. She was responsive to all of our questions and helped us plan and execute the exact timeline we were looking for. On our wedding day, Jordan helped keep us calm when there was a chance of rain and helped our guests stay dry when there was a sunshower five minutes before our ceremony was set to start. She and the Willowdale Estate team immediately ensured our guests were dry with umbrellas and moved folks inside and then back into seats again in the courtyard within ten minutes and our ceremony started right on time and never missed a beat. Throughout the cocktail hour Jordan ensured that we had food brought to our suite so we could actually eat and then made sure our night flowed perfectly. Our guests continue to rave about the food at our wedding and were so impressed with the team throughout the entire evening. We absolutely recommend Willowdale Estate to anyone looking for a wedding venue!!!”

“The space was absolutely perfect for our small wedding (40 people) and larger celebration (approximately 150 people open house style). We loved the intimate ceremony feel, ability to get ready onsite, how quickly we could change the space from a ceremony layout to being able to welcome additional guests, and loved having the space for our full celebration weekend. Our out of town family members were even able to stay there with the 4 lower level bedrooms! There was plenty of parking, and both the venue and outdoor space made for beautiful pictures (lighting was wonderful!) I would definitely recommend this space to anyone looking for a similar experience - definitely one of a kind in Sioux Falls!”

Amazing NYC views from the bridal suite/rooftop, a beautiful dance floor and delicious food and cocktails that our guests still talk about 6 months later (some of the best Salmon and Short Rib we’ve ever had), we couldn’t recommend booking Deity enough. We also had the pleasure of checking out the new Supper Club on Valentine’s Day and it brought us right back. “Working with the orchard wedding venue on many occasions has been super fun and with ease. As a vendor I'm able to communicate with the owners and receive quick responses back with regard to loading and unloading equipment. Easy access to multiple overhead doors makes the process of setting up for weddings a lot easier than other locations. The staff themselves are super friendly and know exactly what they're doing based on experience I believe honestly. If there is any need for help with anything such as tables or chairs the venue without question is able to help. Keep in mind everything is a two-way street and venues like this expect professionalism and I can appreciate that. From time to time the breakdown of equipment can be lengthy in the process. The Orchard wedding venue has much patience and allowing things to be taken down in a sufficient amount of time. I truly recommend this venue for your special day it will be unforgettable from the picturesque view to multiple locations for wedding ceremonies.”
