There was not a single moment where the guests stopped dancing even as equipment was moved from the tent to the indoor reception. The MC reviewed all details with us the day of and made sure we didn’t have any changes or additions. They had an amazing planning form on their website for song requests to create our own music for each portion of the wedding. High Voltage also works closely with Swan Lake and Capture the Moment, so we felt at ease that everyone was working together as a unit at all times. “We hired SDR to dj & mc our wedding cocktail hour and reception, and they delivered an excellent service! They got to know us and our needs beforehand, as we were looking to have a less traditional wedding (less performative moments, more dancing and fun), which helped create the atmosphere we were looking for. From our very first phone call, we knew we’d made the right choice — they gave off great vibes, were professional, and truly delivered. Everything was perfect, from the rustic façade of the DJ booth to the cocktail hour playlist (which sounded like something we would’ve made ourselves) to the incredible reception music. They were honest, familiar with our venue (Toast in Patchogue), and never tried to upsell us. Mike took the time to go over our preferences beforehand, and he just *got it*. They understood the assignment and gave us a night we’ll never forget. The dance floor was packed the entire evening — not a single person left on the first shuttle because no one wanted to stop dancing, not even my 91-year-old grandma who stayed until the very end! They paid close attention to every detail — from our final dance song to the special tribute song for my brother and every request in between. Throughout the night, they checked in with us to make sure we were happy, seamlessly made announcements to gather guests for photos or speeches, and kept the energy high from start to finish. If you’re debating between hiring just a DJ or a DJ and MC — **get both!** It makes such a difference. The DJ can focus on mixing while the MC hypes up the crowd and keeps everything running smoothly. Our only “complaint” was that the dance floor was *too crowded* — exactly what we wanted! “Dan was absolutely amazing as the DJ for our wedding at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden in 2026! He struck such a great balance between being organized, professional, and genuinely fun to work with.
