How much do wedding & reception venues cost?

The cost of wedding venues varies, with factors influencing cost including size, location, guest count, and, most importantly, whether things like catering and rentals are included. The more a reception venue near you includes, the higher the cost. When considering venues, try to compare prices apples-to-apples. If one venue includes catering and rentals in their pricing and the other doesn’t, you need to figure out how much additional cost those outside vendors would be to make a true comparison. Before booking, be sure you’re aware of additional costs outlined in your contract, like parking fees and weather-related considerations (adding a tent, etc.).

What questions should we ask wedding venues?

When talking with a potential venue, always ask about 1) their availability and 2) their capacity. Some popular venues book up peak season Saturdays nearly 2 years in advance—if your first choice date isn’t available, consider your flexibility on day of the week and year. While maximum capacity is non-negotiable, venues might have guidance on what guest count will be most comfortable. Also, you’ll want to understand what is and is not included in the venue’s fees. Some include catering, tables and chairs, and linens, while others offer just the raw space. These venues are often less expensive because you are only paying for the space itself, and you’ll have to bring in outside vendors

“We got married with only 7-8 months notice and the venue and staff pulled it off tremendously. From the first meeting, our planner - Kaylie - was professional and receptive to our ideas and needs. We wanted a sort of “magic forest” theme and they delivered beyond our expectations. Weddings are expensive, but we do feel like we got our money’s worth, and I appreciated that there was room to cut costs wherever we wanted - it allowed for a lot of flexibility throughout the process. Tons and tons of variety and options. Kaylie helped the whole thing run smoothly and she maintained a calm control throughout the process. Grayson and the floral team totally floored us with the designs and decor, turning the reception hall into a bonafide dark academia / elven fantasy masterpiece. We got so many compliments on all the smallest details, and she was super receptive to our vision - totally knocked it out of the park. Ryan, Ann, and Bronte - along with the rest of the day-of staff (bartenders, servers, etc) were unbelievably accommodating and kind, going as far as to physically pick up waste from birds and woodland creatures that ended up near one of the ponds we wanted to take photos at. Everyone was locked into our needs without us even needing to voice any of them, and it all felt very personable - I felt very much like they were seeing us as people and individuals rather than just clients. Compliments to the chefs and cooking staff too. The dinners were very good and the cocktail hour apps and platters were awesome - super creative and really tasty! “We are so thankful for Jordan and the entire Willowdale Estate team for helping to coordinate and run the most incredible wedding for us. We first fell in love with Willowdale Estate when we first toured thanks in particular to Anna Schirripa who walked us through the property, including the getting ready spaces, beautiful ceremony courtyard, cocktail space and of course the tent for reception. We could see early on that Willowdale could accomplish the vision we were looking for. Anna then followed up by mailing us their famous chocolate chip cookies which helped seal the deal! Anna’s thoughtfulness and responsiveness to all of our questions (rain plan, food options, wheelchairs accessibility, vendors, etc.) gave us the confidence that Willowdale Estate was the right venue for us and we could not have been more correct. Working with Jordan in the weeks leading up to our Wedding day, we could tell she was the perfect person to help us stay calm and present during our wedding day. She was responsive to all of our questions and helped us plan and execute the exact timeline we were looking for. On our wedding day, Jordan helped keep us calm when there was a chance of rain and helped our guests stay dry when there was a sunshower five minutes before our ceremony was set to start. She and the Willowdale Estate team immediately ensured our guests were dry with umbrellas and moved folks inside and then back into seats again in the courtyard within ten minutes and our ceremony started right on time and never missed a beat. Throughout the cocktail hour Jordan ensured that we had food brought to our suite so we could actually eat and then made sure our night flowed perfectly. Our guests continue to rave about the food at our wedding and were so impressed with the team throughout the entire evening. “All expectations were far exceeded for our wedding day at Deity! We wanted a chic New York aesthetic and the venue delivered on every level, literally. Each floor is unique, functional, in good condition, and has so much to offer for pictures. Deity includes almost everything you need for the entire experience and great 3rd party vendor connections for what remains. We did not need a wedding planner. Caio, Anastasia (our day of coordinator), and the rest of the amazing staff took the best care of us leading up to and on the day of the wedding. We were treated like royalty and really felt special. DJ and music kept the dance floor active the entire night. Finally, we had HIGH expectations for the food and cocktails after our tasting. And even these were exceeded. “We got married a week ago at Walden and I cannot say enough about how positive an experience it was! Krystle and Alyssa (our dream team of planners) were our saviors throughout the entire planning process. I hadn't planned on using a full service planner until I found out Walden included them in the venue rental and now I can't imagine planning a wedding without them! They truly made the entire process fun, even during the more stressful parts. The rest of the Walden team is equally as amazing - the catering staff delivered some of "the best food we've ever had at a wedding," as many of our guests raved to us! The bar team also ran such an efficient operation that there was rarely ever a line for drinks, so rare at a wedding! Both teams worked with us to accommodate special requests and really felt like they prioritized making our day feel unique and special. The space itself is gorgeous and requires very little extra decoration, which is a great money saver! The separate spaces for ceremony, cocktail, and reception really made each part of the evening feel special. One of my favorite parts was the getting ready room - so rare to find in a Chicago city venue! My girls and I all had the best time getting ready in the space and it made for a very relaxing morning to already be on site. “In 2021 my boyfriend and I attended a wedding at Olio and couldn't believe how perfect the space was. Being from the north shore, it was easy to get to which we loved. Once we got to the dinner portion of the wedding and had chicken parm (not your traditional wedding piece of chicken or steak) - we thought, this is the best wedding ever! When we got engaged in December 2023, the first, and only tour we had was at Olio. We assumed there would be no availability for 2024, but Sarah was able to secure us with the perfect date in June (just six months away). We knew we didn't want a traditional wedding, and loved the fact that Sarah supported our non-traditional, crazy ideas. When I took my grandmother to visit the space, she met Sarah and said "she's so nice and thoughtful, but you must have to be to work in this industry" I can confidently say after planning my wedding in 6 months that not all vendors are like Sarah and the team at Olio! They go ABOVE and BEYOND to help you create your perfect day. They are incredibly fast at responding, and always taking the time to reply with kindness which goes a long way. Sarah & team helped us craft the most perfect PARTY atmosphere for our 200 guests. We went with Premier as our caterer and loved being able to hire local Peabody establishments for food, shoutout to Champions Pub, Toscanas, and an INCREDIBLE grazing board by Edex Provisions (right outside of Olio!) Followed by epic late night snacks from McDonalds. Olio allowed us to create the wedding menu of our dreams :) I would absolutely recommend working with Sarah and the team at Olio. Founded in 1814, The West Boylston Company was a large textile manufacturer in West Boylston, MA. At the turn of the century the company faced a crisis: the site of their mill would be flooded to form the Wachusett Reservoir. Instead of abandoning the mill, the company dismantled it brick by brick and shipped it to its new home in Easthampton, where it was rebuilt on the banks of the Lower Mill Pond. “I could not say enough good things about this venue. We're SO glad we decided to get married at The Boylston Rooms! The pictures show for themselves how beautiful the venue (and surrounding areas for photography) are, but the staff are what make this place extra special. From start to finish, everyone we worked with was nothing but professional. They were clear and timely communicators, helped troubleshoot things during the planning process, and came with loads of wedding wisdom that helped set us up for success on the big day. Separately, our wedding party stayed at The Wheeler House Cottages for our entire wedding weekend and it made our experience so much more enjoyable, continuing the celebrations after the wedding and having everyone in one place for ease. “Donauschwaben's German-American Cultural Center was the perfect venue for our daughter & son-in-law’s wedding. The location to the airport, highway and hotel were ideal. Their property provided plenty of parking. The wedding was outside on a 92 day and was flawless. It was hot, but the trees were in the perfect position to shade the entire patio. The entire staff was amazing. The reception space was transformed into a beautiful space for our special celebration. Our family and friends shared with us how delicious the appetizers, meal and “aftertizers” of the homemade pretzels. Christine the Event Manager went above and beyond and made sure the day was special for everyone. She answered all of my questions, even up to the last minute. We were so impressed with how many times Christine checked in with us to make sure we were happy. We highly recommend Donauschwaben’s German-American Cultural Center.”

“Got married at Simple Affair this June and everything was wonderful from start to finish! From the very first visit before securing the date, the staff was very informative and helpful. Maddy, our event coordinator, was so responsive and attentive to any and all questions we had throughout the planning process. The day of, the team that was working was very helpful as well and adjusted to even the smallest last minute changes we made to our timeline and the different adjustments we made to the flow of the reception. I could not recommend this venue enough! They have so many different options and can as involved and all inclusive or as hands off as you would like them to be, it’s really very personalizable and we couldn’t have picked a better option! Another great benefit is that if you are a DIY bride, they are so adaptable to your vision and can help assist in bringing your Pinterest board to life. The space of the venue really is so big it’s amazing how well you can decorate the space and still have room for a big dance floor. We were looking for an all inclusive venue and that is just what they do. Venue, catering, alcohol and ceremony and reception all in one place! Their wedding coordinators make the wedding planning process so easy. They were available for any email or phone call any time. They provide you with a preferred vendor book which is amazing and helped us pick ALL of our vendors. The food and bar service were great and I got so many compliments from family and friends. Last but not least they provide you with a day of coordinator! She took all the stress away on the wedding day, communicated with the preacher, musicians, etc and made sure everyone was lined up correctly! As a bride I couldn’t appreciate this enough! She also brought my husband and I drinks all night so we could stay with family and friends and dance and didn’t have to worry about going down to the bar. Nazareth hall is amazing and I can’t say enough great things about them! If you are looking for a wedding venue look no further!”

Our Farm sits on 54-Acres in Bucks County. Our Seed Barn was originally built back in the 1820's. Our Seed Barn was restored in the Summer of 2016 & seats 160-200 people. Attached to the back of the Seed Barn is a beautiful deck that overlooks the ceremony site. In the lower level of the Seed Barn is our Groom’s Suite! Here you will find a pool table, TV, lounge seating area & more. In 2020 we built our Harvest Barn attached to the Seed Barn through a breezeway. This is home for our commercial kitchen, on-site bathrooms, smaller event space and bridal suite. Lastly, we have a Farm-to-Table bakery onsite for your dessert table & custom wedding cake. The Farm is truly a wonderful place to host your big day! Our goal is to work with each couple to carry out their vision for the day! What is great about The Farm is it truly can be anything you would like it to be, from a backyard barbecue to a beautiful sit down farm-to-table dinner! We would love to serve you on your Wedding Day.

“I recently had the honor of planning, coordinating, and doing hair and makeup for a styled wedding photoshoot at The Farm Bakery & Events, and let me just say… this venue is incredible. I worked directly with Becca and Alyssa, who were SO kind, friendly, and welcoming from the start. They truly went above and beyond to make sure every single detail was thought out, beautifully executed, and aligned with the vision!!! I sent over a mood board and gave them full creative freedom to showcase their talents and WOW!!!! SO FREAKING TALENTED!! The florals were exactly what I had envisioned (and somehow even better), the cake was hands-down the most stunning I’ve ever seen, and the venue itself was spotless, bright, and the perfect space for a large group of vendors to come together, create, and feel at home. As a bridal hair and makeup artist, I’ve worked many weddings at The Farm Bakery and Events and can honestly say every one of my brides has had nothing but amazing things to say. From the moment I walk in to start setting up in the bridal suite (prior to the bride party’s arrival), a team member always comes in to introduce themselves and ask if we need anything. That small gesture speaks volumes about how much they value and respect their fellow wedding pros. Throughout the day, their coordinators consistently check in to make sure the entire crew, from the bride and bridal party to the vendors, feels taken care of. The bridal suite is gorgeous with plenty of space for everyone to relax and get ready comfortably. But the venue itself? Even BETTER. Getting to see it all styled in real life (not just through photos) is truly breathtaking. I’ve worked at sooo many venues, and I can confidently say The Farm Bakery and Events is one of my absolute favorites.
