“Black Walnut Farm will always hold a special place in our hearts. It was the first venue we saw, and the moment we stepped on the property, we knew it was where we were meant to get married. From the start, Sara, Jim, and their team cared for us with such warmth and attention. Their online planning portal made everything simple, but what we loved most was how personally they got to know us. They listened to our vision and brought it to life in a way that felt truly meaningful. Throughout the weekend, every detail was handled with so much thought. Our guests felt welcomed, we felt supported, and even when the weather forced last-minute changes, the team stayed calm and kept everything running beautifully. Our wedding was everything we dreamed of and more. Black Walnut Farm isn’t just a stunning venue, it’s a place filled with people who genuinely care about making your day unforgettable. We couldn’t imagine having our wedding anywhere else.”

One of the best additions to the place is the fire pit for s’mores which Wally gladly takes care of. He’s very responsive and helps with anything you may need. Venue considerations

“The Outlier Inn is truly one-of-a-kind, offering so much more than your typical wedding venue. From the start, we knew it was something special. One of our favorite aspects was being able to bring all of our loved ones together in one place for the entire weekend, creating a unique experience where our family and friends were “trapped” in the best way—celebrating and bonding without distractions. If you’re someone who loves to party under the stars, and you enjoy envisioning and creating fun, personalized spaces, this is the venue for you. The property itself is a hidden gem, full of surprises at every turn. There’s so much to explore, from the charming tiny houses scattered throughout, to the inviting homemade hot tub and peaceful sauna, to the quirky hidden thrift shop/barn. We held our ceremony in the newly added amphitheater nestled in the woods—an intimate space surrounded by towering trees, creating a perfect natural backdrop for our vows. We were lucky with beautiful September weather, and the sound of our friends laughing and exploring the grounds will forever be a cherished memory. Josh, the owner of The Outlier, truly made the entire experience unforgettable. From the moment we met him, we knew this was “our” place. He is warm, welcoming, and incredibly accommodating. During our first tour of the property, Josh even let us bottle-feed his adorable baby goat, “Frip”—a moment that will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Leading up to the wedding, Josh was always available to offer guidance and advice, and throughout the weekend, his calm presence was a steady source of reassurance. Whether he was setting up bonfires, handling speakers and microphones, or just checking in on us, Josh ensured everything ran smoothly, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in every moment of our celebration. The only downside to having our wedding at The Outlier Inn is that we almost want to keep it a secret—it’s so magical, we’d love to keep it all to ourselves! But in all honesty, The Outlier Inn is an extraordinary venue, and we can’t imagine getting married anywhere else. Thank you, Josh, for making our weekend so unforgettable!”

“We got married at Bad Seed in June 2024. It was the first venue we toured and we knew it was perfect right away. Devin, Albert, Brandon, and the rest of the Bad Seed team are so down to earth and communicative. They gave us great advice about how to make our wedding day amazing. We wanted to DIY our decor and music, bring in our own food vendor, and have a casual garden party vibe. Bad Seed was super flexible, letting us choose whichever vendors we wanted and giving us tips for great service providers in the area. Because they only do one wedding per weekend, we had the entire day before the wedding to set up (which we needed!) as well as the entire morning/afternoon before the big event. There was always someone at the venue to help with whatever we needed, even going above and beyond to help us lay out the tables and set up decor. We wanted an indoor/outdoor wedding. Unfortunately, mother nature had other plans with a heat wave and thunderstorm moving through the area. On the bright side, Devin and the Bad Seed crew made sure we could do the whole event inside -- even going out to buy a big industrial fan to make sure the taproom stayed cool (we didn't end up needing it, the AC did its job!). Bad Seed is also SO reasonably priced compared to other wedding venues in the area. There was no nickel and diming or hidden fees - just an honest price and a great value. During the actual event, the bar staff went above and beyond to take care of us, checking in on us throughout the night and bringing us drinks so we didn't have to wait at the bar. It really made us feel like a million bucks. Oh, and our guests were raving about the cider :) If you're looking for an awesome, picturesque wedding venue in the Hudson Valley, Bad Seed should be your top choice.”

The entire staff, especially Mary the manager and Matt the bartender went over and above to make sure our reception went well. Everyone enjoyed the beautiful grounds and venue space. “There are no words that I could possibly say that could pinpoint how I feel about Kerri and the staff at FVM. When your daughter gets engaged to the love of her life, you immediately want the absolute most perfect wedding day for her and you want all her wedding dreams to come true. The first time I met Kerri I had an instant feeling of this is the place, and this is the person to make it all come true. My daughter had a vision of what she wanted her day to look like, and Kerri made it and more happen! The venue is unbelievably gorgeous. The staff is beyond compare and the food was top-notch delicious! I will forever be grateful to everyone at Fortune Valley Manor who helped make my daughter and son-in-law‘s day a memory that will last a lifetime. Kerri, you are absolutely incredible at what you do! If I could give 1 million stars to this review, I would! Five stars just does not seem to be enough! It’s four days after the wedding and it still brings tears to my eyes how perfect Fortune Valley Manor made this day!”

“We cancelled our big wedding due to covid and we were planning to just show up at a local lake and have our wedding ceremony... that is until we saw Rokeby! Marina was very responsive and walked us around the property, which is absolutely exquisite. The grounds have several perfect ceremony locations (in front of the garden, mountain view, on the porch, in front of a very old beautiful tree) and Marina had the ceremony space set up exactly how we had asked. The experience was seamless and our guests continue to talk about how wonderful the estate is. Highly, highly recommend!”

“Choosing to have our wedding at Camp Timber Lake was probably the single most important decision we made during the planning process. The camp setting gave us the opportunity to create something far more immersive, personal, and joyful than we had imagined, and the camp / Gatheround staff and everyone involved in the planning process gave us the ability to execute on making all our dreams come true! In the months leading up to the wedding, we worked closely with Will, who was incredibly friendly, responsive, and on top of every detail. He always made time to talk through our many questions and helped accommodate some of our more unconventional requests—from having Camp Timber Lake cater our Sunday reception dinner (which we highly recommend!) to brainstorming the best locations for a nighttime game of kick the can. The camp itself is absolutely beautiful and was perfectly manicured for our arrival. There were endless activities for our guests to enjoy, and the staff placed sports equipment throughout the property so everyone could immediately jump into whatever interested them. Our guests had so much fun exploring the grounds, tossing frisbees and footballs, shooting hoops, and making the camp their own for the weekend. The staff including Reggie, Scott, Liz, Willow, Marcie, and so many others, were AMAZING. They were warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in making the weekend special. Scott and Liz stayed on top of every detail, and the entire team continually went above and beyond to make our guests feel welcome and cared for. When one of our guests lost her phone in the dining hall after hours, the team turned the lights back on and helped her search for it. After she mentioned that she was having trouble turning on the heat in her cabin, they walked over to help, then returned 15 minutes later with brownies and ice cream for her and her cabin-mates as a nice surprise. Another favorite moment happened on the dance floor Saturday night. We had brought bubble guns but realized too late that they required batteries we didn’t have. We’d given up on using them, but when Willow (one of the camp staff) overheard a friend say, “I wish we had batteries for these bubble guns.” he went and tracked down batteries from TV remotes around the camp on his own accord and got the bubble guns working. They ended up being a huge hit! Moments like these, and so many others, made us feel completely at home and made our guests feel incredibly well cared for. The food was also outstanding. We received rave reviews about every meal. The team went out of its way to accommodate dietary preferences and restrictions, providing hearty vegan and vegetarian options at every meal. They even prepared a special plate every meal for my mom, who has an autoimmune disorder that prevents her from eating most spices. The team also decorated dishes with edible flowers and made everything look beautiful. For our reception dinner on the final night, they even came up with the idea of displaying leftover Boy Scout patches from one of our weekend activities along the buffet counter. It was the perfect thoughtful touch. We had multiple guests tell us that this was their favorite wedding they had ever attended, and Camp Timber Lake (and the wonderful people who run it) were a huge reason why. Thank you for giving us and our guests such a magical, joyful, and unforgettable weekend. It truly was the best weekend of our lives! Can’t recommend this wedding venue enough!”

“As a wedding planner and designer based in NYC for over a decade, I’ve seen a lot of venues—and this one is truly special. The barn strikes that rare balance between thoughtful design and genuine warmth. It has a refined, NYC-designer sensibility—elevated, intentional, never kitschy—while still feeling relaxed, cozy, and grounded in that unmistakable Hudson Valley charm. The space itself feels like a home rather than a rental: intimate, eclectic, and quietly magical. It creates an atmosphere that immediately puts people at ease and makes celebrations feel meaningful and personal. What truly sets this venue apart is that it’s family-owned and operated, and you feel that care in every interaction. The owners are communicative, accommodating, and consistently go above and beyond to support couples and vendors alike. From a professional standpoint, that level of partnership is invaluable. On top of all of this, the venue is refreshingly budget-friendly for the experience it offers—something that’s increasingly rare. It’s a true hidden gem, and couples who find it are incredibly lucky. “We could not have asked for a more perfect ceremony venue for our wedding! Communication with Stephen was incredibly easy—he was always willing to help and went above and beyond by taking us on multiple tours, sharing the full history of the space. Coordinating a pianist for the ceremony was seamless, and they were even able to practice in the space beforehand. Our florist had no issues setting up, and everything went smoothly. Our rehearsal was excellent, with Stephen on site to offer helpful input from previous weddings. Practicing the doors with him was invaluable, especially since he was there on the wedding day to ensure everything went perfectly. On the day of the ceremony, Stephen and Linda were both on site, greeting guests and vendors, and they helped us secure a separate space for personal items. The ceremony went exactly as we rehearsed—smooth and flawless. The space itself is gorgeous, intimate, and the views of the river were absolutely stunning, especially on the perfect day we had. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful and seamless experience for our wedding ceremony.”

The food, the ambiance, the cozy spaces throughout the property, and the beautifully appointed rooms all contribute to making this venue one-of-a-kind in the Catskills.
