It is named after Jacob Swoope, the first mayor of Staunton and a land developer in the late 1700s. MeadowCroft Farm is situated in southwestern Augusta County, in the heart of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. We are just a short five-mile drive from the Interstate I-81 and I-64 Staunton bypass. The renovations and updates to the adjoining cabins were completed in 2018. The Inn at MeadowCroft opened to delight guests with this beautiful, historic property. Our rooms are named after members of the Swoope family in keeping with the history of the inn and the local area. Our Honorable Jacob Swoope suite is in keeping with someone of the first mayor of Staunton’s status.

New Field Farm at Timber Ridge is a one-of-a-kind historic 240-acre farm turned event venue located in beautiful Lexington Virginia, nestled in The Blue Ridge Mountains. The Yellow Barn at Shenandoah Caverns offers one of the largest event spaces in the Shenandoah Valley for special events, corporate meetings, banquets, wedding receptions, private parties, and high school proms. Area events including wine festivals, trade shows, and concerts are also held here.

The Home and Farm have been passed down through 8 generations of the Miller family. In 1827, John Miller Sr. purchased the land from Francis Thornton and built a modest family home with his son, “Poplar John”. The simple rectangular structure was built from bricks fired on the bank of the Thornton River and trees harvested from nearby Turkey Mountain. Sixty years later, John Byron made substantial additions including the present-day Owner’s Suite, Queen’s Room, and sitting porches.
