From a private residence, it soon became a stagecoach stop where visitors would stop to eat and lodge at Frost Tavern. Following that, it was Paul’s Hotel, and eventually also served as a boarding house. Then, for nearly 70 years it was a convent run by the Sisters of St. Joseph Order. It was also a christian school. “From our first conversation and tour with Darien at Stage House Inn, we knew we had found my bridal shower venue. He answered every question we had during planning and was even there to help us set up the morning of my bridal shower. The space is absolutely beautiful, charming and updated, and the entire team showed up as kind, professional, and proactive. They even took care of little details without us asking—like putting my bouquet in a vase with water and making sure we felt taken care of throughout the entire day. Cheryl and the rest of the event staff were so friendly and they even offered to donate our leftover flowers to a local nursing home for us - so thoughtful. The food and drinks were delicious, and I could not recommend Stage House Inn enough to other brides looking for a shower venue.”

“Emery Farm Stays was a pleasure to work with as a wedding planner. The couple I worked with was able to truly make the space their own, from customizing the lighting to designing a flow that felt unique to their day. The owner was on site throughout the process, helping with vendor deliveries and ensuring everything ran smoothly — from parking to sound and everything in between. The farm itself is a beautiful setting with dedicated spaces for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner and dancing. I would highly recommend Emery Farm Stays to any couple searching for a flexible, well-run, and beautiful wedding venue.”

“Having our wedding at the Red Barn was the best decision we made. Everything else just fell into place and our coordinator Alex made all our visions come to life. The planning process was so easy, I feel like we just had to show up, enjoy our day, and get married! Alex was available to answer my questions for months before the wedding, we had a few phone calls to hash out details, and after our rehearsal, we felt so at ease and ready to enjoy ourselves for the weekend. The space is obviously beautiful, but the system they have for executing your wedding day is just flawless and stress-free. Book the Red Barn! xoxo Devon & Derek”

Scotland Fields

Every element has been thoughtfully restored— retaining the perfect amount of charm combined with present-day luxury. We rent the entire estate for four nights, from Thursday to Monday and can comfortably sleep 26 guests. Surrounded by stunning views and Maine salt air, we are just 15 minutes from downtown Portsmouth, NH and the fine restaurants, arts, and culture of the Seacoast. And only an hour from Boston or Portland.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Multiple event spaces
  • Private area for the wedding party
  • Classic, vintage atmosphere

Venue considerations

  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • Venue feels large for events with small guest lists
  • Does not have a dance floor
“I looked into countless wedding venues all across New England, but when my then-fiancé and I arrived at Scotland Fields for our venue tour, I immediately knew that it was the place we needed to host our wedding weekend. That gut feeling that this was somewhere really special never wore off, and I know that all of our guests felt that same feeling throughout the entire weekend. We also don't have enough positive things to say about the Scotland Fields team. My husband and I had a very specific vision about how we wanted our weekend to come together, and the team was nothing but accommodating to allow us to create the weekend that we envisioned. They were responsive when we had questions, helpful when we needed recommendations and guidance, and prompt to resolve anything that came up throughout the weekend (not that there was much of anything to resolve!!). We could not recommend this venue more highly, and will forever be grateful for the weekend that Scotland Fields allowed us to curate!”

“I learned of this place from a local source, and my husband and I were excited to get married at this gem in Barrington. Karen was responsive and lovely to work with, giving us contact information for vendors who had worked with the Barn before, and making sure that her sons moved tables and chairs around for us. Their existing furniture saved time and money, so it was super convenient. It is important to note that if you do choose this venue, there is no heating or cooling in the barn, and there is no existing bathroom; we got married in the middle of October and though it was chilly outdoors, the barn itself was fairly warm. We rented a bathroom trailer, which had a perfect spot just outside the venue and it wasn't a problem at all. Overall, the peach farm is a gorgeous place to get married!”

“Grill 28 is a very affordable venue with the luxury of the beautiful Pease Golf course. Grill 28 made it possible for us to have a bigger wedding we wanted. My husband got married there October 2023. Planning was very hands on. Not traditional wedding venue but still made a great effort in planning. We had an amazing experience planning up until the wedding. Food was great everyone enjoyed it. We were able to afford open bar for 3 hours and signature cocktails Our wedding day was rainy, at some points full out poring rain. I feel this threw a wrench in the day and to the staff. I would say the venue is not rain friendly . Pictures were hard as we couldn't take them on the golf course, We had to take them in the tent with them zipped not exactly what I pictured when I spent thousands on a photographer. We even took some pictures in the SIM room I fear that were worse look like a JCPenny backdrop. However before the rain we got to have our ceremony outside on the fairway and it was GORGEOUS. I will post some photos, the staff was very accommodating for the DJ , photographer, and videographer to get them shelter in case rain broke out. I sent pictures of how I wanted my tables and decor set up and they knocked the set up out the park it looked amazing We were promised to have a dedicated server to my husband and I to bring us drinks and hors d'oeuvres while we take all our pictures in-between ceremony, that never happened. In fact my husband and I didn't get any of our hors d'oeuvres and they told us they ran out and then supplemented with cheese and crackers. Last complaint is our card box with thousands of dollars was left in the tent after the wedding, my husband and I realized at 2am and had someone drive us to the venue to get the card box. We walked right into the tent and took it. I spoke with other friends and all their venue event mangers made sure the box was given to a family members or the couple before they left the wedding night or at least kept safe inside. We were really upset about this. I do believe the event manager we worked with is no longer at Grill 28. All in all, it is a beautiful venue at the right price if you get a good day. I'm sure its amazing and much smoother. Once we booked Grill 28 for our day I struggled to find reviews and pictures of the venue so I hope this help a future bride and the restaurant leaves my honesty”
