I've been photographing weddings for almost two decades and it all started with hiring a friend but the film came back black, every shot gone. All we have from our day are the photos our guests happened to take. That loss is what led me here, and it's still what drives every wedding I shoot: making sure my couples never have to feel that loss. I'm based in Northern Maine, but I travel the whole state documenting family and love stories. I'm also a wife and mom to two teenagers, so I know what it means to build a life with someone, not just planning a wedding day. I don't have a big following or a flashy feed. “I originally chose Holly for my photographer because we had a very specific theme for our wedding (Destiny the video game). It must have also been Destiny that she played the game and was familiar with the theme. Also, she was amazingly flexible and willing to work with our budget. Her correspondence with me was always quick and prompt. Even when it came to getting my professional pictures and sneak peaks all back, I was told it would be up to 2 months for return, but she had them back in only a week or two's time. Unfortunately, (as these things sometimes happen) Holly was not able to actually come do our photos due to getting extremely sick (which no one can help), so we had to have a stand in photographer named Justin. I know we (including herself) were all bummed she could not be there considering we were all excited and familiar with the theme. Despite not having Holly, Justin was still very nice to work with and did an amazing job. I did notice that the best pictures (of course) were the ones he had time to actually position and pose us for. I think my biggest regret was I wish I had had more time and funds to pay for more time for him to pose us and take these more less candid photos. I was sad to find that we missed out on getting individual photos of my daughters and all four of them on their own. Also there were no photos of my husband with his second oldest daughter which really upset her... But again, I don't blame the photographer for this. It really was chalked up to a lack of time. Also, one of my daughters changed into more comfortable clothes during dinner so that took away from us being able to get the nice pictures I had wanted. So I can't emphasize enough that I don't blame the photographers for this at all... It was just one of my biggest regrets on my part of the night. I again, wish I had built more time and been able to contribute more money to more pictures that could be done in this manner. I definitely recommend this team. They are so nice and do their best to check off all of the boxes that you want. They work with you and are quick and efficient with what they do.”

“Working with Kandid Art was overall a great experience! They showed up on time and made sure we got all the shots we wanted. Though the wedding ran a bit behind, they were flexible. The photos turned out beautiful, and they got creative with the locations given the cold, rainy weather. They even got some funny shots of the kids at the wedding that are some of my favorites! The video was also good, although I don't love that they had to use like stock music for the background (I guess it's because of copyright issues with other songs?). I wish they would have included audio of the vows rather than the cheers of the attendees, so make sure you ask them to do that if you want it! I do love that they provided us with all the raw video footage though, as some of the most special moments didn't make the highlight video. Due to the event running behind, the cost increased a bit (which I was asked about after the wedding) due to the 2 photographers needing to split up to cover the shots. I wish they had asked me or the Wedding Coordinator about that on the day of so we could understand better what was the issue, but it was a minor thing in terms of communication. Overall 8/10 rating and would recommend.”

“Kaitlin is amazing to work with. As a photographer who has done weddings myself, I had high standards and specific requests that weeded out a lot of people during my search. Kaitlin immediately stood out to me as someone with the ability to capture the essence of a couple. As I browsed her galleries I felt like I knew the couples and their stories by the time I was done. My wife and I are very introverted, shy, and not used to being the center of attention — let alone in front of a camera. After consulting with Kaitlin it was even more clear that she was the perfect photographer for us. Kaitlin listened to our requests, asked us questions to get a better understanding of what sort of coverage we’d like, and checked in multiple times leading up to the wedding day to go over plans. On the day of, Kaitlin was incredible. She set her flash units up perfectly to give a beautiful sense of lighting to our indoor pictures. Kaitlin was quick and professional with our family formals without feeling like she was rushing anyone. We love our newlywed portraits, largely due to how natural it felt to work with her—again this was huge for us as two people who are a bit camera shy. Our reception photos are equally beautiful, she captured meaningful candid moments without feeling like she was standing between us and the moments happening around us. If you’re like my wife and me and aren’t used to being on camera, I would 100% recommend booking a practice session with Kaitlin either for engagement photos or couples’ photos. As a photographer I’m used to being behind the camera and not in front of it. She helped us feel comfortable and it also helped her see how we interact together as a couple. At no point did we feel like Kaitlin was commandeering our schedule to check off boxes on a shot-list. She was seamlessly integrated everything. Genuinely, I cannot recommend Kaitlin enough. Working with her is like having a best friend there take your wedding photos.”

“Jess was incredible! As a resident of the Pacific Northwest attempting to plan a wedding in Massachusetts, I didn’t have any idea where to start when it came to finding a photographer. I found her via Zola, which led to her website and instagram. I knew she was the perfect person from her first email response to me. Her email showed that she had read the answers that I had written into her inquiry form on her website and I felt seen, heard and understood. We jumped on a call the next week and immediately knew she was the perfect fit for us. Leading up to the wedding we had one more video call and then had the opportunity to meet in person a few days before the wedding, which I appreciate she took time to do. The day of the wedding, Jess captured our day beautifully while giving us direction on how to pose, how long to kiss etc., and we certainly needed direction and instructions for all of that. She took amazing photos of the ceremony and I didn’t even realize she was there, running around capturing so many moments and memories. We got our preview photos the day she promised and they blew my mind. They were so INCREDIBLE. I cannot say enough good things about Jess. She was the perfect person to capture our perfect day and if I needed to hire a photographer on the East Coast, I would 100% hire Jess, I’d even fly her out to the PNW!
