Hey there, I’m Holly! I’m a wedding and engagement photographer based in Roanoke, VA, and I’m all about capturing love stories in the most authentic and heartfelt way possible. My photography style is raw, emotional, timeless, and fun. Whether I’m photographing a tender moment between a couple or the spontaneous laughter during a celebration, I strive to capture the genuine connection and joy shared on your big day. There’s nothing more rewarding for me than freezing those fleeting moments so you can relive them for years to come. I go above and beyond to make sure my couples are stress free and can just enjoy the day knowing they will have beautiful photos to look back on. I am not only your photographer but I will be your personal cheerleader, dress fluffier, lipstick holder, phone holder, bouquet holder, dress holder. I also do not charge travel fees, as that is something I'm choosing to do and I do not believe my couples should have to pay for.

Best photographer EVER!!!
We truly cannot say enough wonderful things about our photographer! From the very beginning, she was kind, patient, incredibly creative, easy to work with, and such a great communicator. She made us feel completely comfortable and taken care of throughout the entire day. One of the things I appreciated most was how much she listened to me and advocated for me. She took charge when it came to organizing a large group of people, kept things moving, and somehow managed to make everything feel calm and effortless. She also constantly checked in on me throughout the day, made sure I was doing okay, and kept me smiling and happy even during some of the more hectic moments. I always felt like she had my back, which meant so much to me on such an overwhelming and important day. My husband and I are definitely not the most naturally “photogenic” people and we are not used to posing for pictures, but she made such a huge difference. She knew exactly how to position us, gave us direction when we needed it, and created the most incredible photos. She somehow captured us in a way that still felt natural and like us. But beyond the incredible quality of her work, what really stood out to me was how special, heard, and supported she made me feel. She cared about what I wanted, listened to every little detail, and made me feel confident and beautiful throughout the day. We are so grateful that she was the person behind our wedding photos. Not only did she give us photographs we will treasure forever, but she made the experience of taking those photos genuinely enjoyable. We could not recommend her more!

Best photographer and most amazing experience
From the very first time we communicated, I knew we were lucky to have Holly as our wedding photographer. She's responsive, communicative, and quick to address any concerns and overthinking moments with reassurance that comes from her years of experience. As a person she's wonderful and as a photographer she is an absolute dream. She picked up on our vibe as a couple immediately and helped us move past our general awkwardness instantly, making us both at ease. She understood us instantly and did an amazing job at ensuring the must-have shots were taken, and was able to suggest different ideas for our couple photos that turned out stunningly well. Holly's flexibility and willingness to pivot also made the wedding morning successful as there were some issues with hair and makeup affecting timing, and she was quick to work around what was happening to put my mind at ease. As the bride she made me feel taken care of, and in these pictures I look beautiful in a way I've never felt before. She also helped me fix my hair multiple times that night. Her attention to detail is unmatched. She delivered prompt, stunning photos that perfectly capture all the moments of the day, and every time I was hoping she would see something to take a photo she was already there and on top of it. I would recommend Holly Johnston Photographer to every single person in the world if I could. I can't say enough words to express what an unmatched delight it was to have her as our photographer and what an incredible job she did.
