Hello! My name is Allie and I’m the sole owner of The Hangry Lady. I have a 2 year A.S Degree towards dietetics and a Culinary Degree from Kirkwood Community College. After graduating I went on to be Chef de Cuisine at Caucho for 2 years, during this time I was named one of the ‘40 women to watch’ by the Iowa Restaurant Association. I then went on to be Executive Chef at Popoli for almost 1 year before closing due to Covid. This is when I decided to take a chance on myself and opened up the business I had always dreamed of. Our mission is to serve colorful, creative and delicious food, with high quality service to our customers.

The HarMac Event Space resides in the historic Harper & McIntire building in downtown Cedar Rapids, Iowa. ​Completed in 1922, the building was originally a warehouse and shipping facility for Harper & McIntire's industrial hardware. The company also procured their own line of hand-crafted tools, coined "HarMac" - thus, our shared name. In 2015, the property was purchased and restored to reflect its original industrial character and charm. The HarMac has been meticulously designed to showcase it's industrial roots and stunning proportions. The flexibility of this distinctive venue allows guests to enjoy it year-round, for many different uses, including weddings, private events, corporate functions, and more.

I got my start many years ago when I was living back home in Chicago, at a cute little bakery, that I still visit to this day! I went back and forth between working in graphic design to cooking and baking. I started working in the bakery at The Hotel at Kirkwood Center as a part-time line cook in 2013 and in 2015 a became their in-house cake designer. In 2019 I decided to leave my position at the hotel and opened Sugar Flower Cake Design.
