Why is New York the Perfect Wedding Destination?

New York gives you incredible variety for your special day, from Manhattan's iconic skyline to the charming countryside of Upstate. You can enjoy timeless elegance at The Plaza Hotel with its grand ballrooms overlooking Central Park, or take in breathtaking panoramic views of Manhattan at Tribeca Rooftop. Brooklyn offers photography-friendly industrial-chic spaces like The Foundry with its character-filled exposed brick and factory windows. Head Upstate and you'll find City Winery Hudson Valley where your celebration unfolds against the backdrop of a working vineyard with mountain views that change beautifully with each season. April sees the most wedding inquiries in New York, showing just how many couples are drawn to the region during spring's beautiful blooming season.

What's the Reality of Wedding Costs in New York?

Expect to pay more for your New York wedding than the national average of $6,500-$12,000 for venues alone. New York venues typically cost around $16,709 which makes up about 22% of your total wedding budget. Your overall costs will vary based on how many guests you're hosting: Guest Count Total Wedding Budget 50 guests (small wedding) $32,316 100 guests $54,844 150 guests $76,011 200 guests $94,911 250 guests $113,810 300 guests (large wedding) $132,709 Your other major expenses will include catering at $13,367 (18%), bar services running $10,694 (14%), florals at $8,177 (11%), planners costing $6,044 (8%), photography at $5,119 (7%), videography at $4,622 (6%), entertainment at $2,298 (3%), cake and desserts at $1,067 (1%), and hair and makeup averaging $550 (1%).

How Do NYC Wedding Venues Compare to Upstate Locations?

NYC venues offer you urban sophistication with distinctive skyline views. At Tribeca Rooftop + 360° you'll enjoy floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing Manhattan panoramas while The Plaza presents opulent ballrooms featuring chandeliers ornate molding and gold accents. The 620 Loft & Garden gives you a stunning rooftop terrace overlooking St. Patrick's Cathedral and Fifth Avenue. Upstate venues surround you with natural beauty and historic architecture. City Winery Hudson Valley welcomes you to a renovated factory featuring vaulted ceilings stone walls and vineyard views. You can host up to 350 guests here and customize your outdoor ceremony areas to create exactly the atmosphere you're dreaming of.

Which New York Venues Offer Outstanding Culinary Experiences?

You can treat your guests to Two Michelin star cuisine at Manhatta perched 60 floors high in the Financial District where Executive Chef Justin Bogle creates memorable dishes like hamachi and black truffle dumplings. The River Cafe in Brooklyn serves Michelin-starred cuisine featuring Hudson Valley foie gras and Nantucket Bay scallops with Brooklyn Bridge views right outside your window. For a farm-to-table experience Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Westchester County offers cuisine sourced directly from their on-site farm with their HayLoft space accommodating anywhere from 40 to 260 guests.

Where Can You Find Accessible Wedding Venues in New York?

For couples prioritizing accessibility 620 Loft & Garden offers customizable settings that can work with various needs though you'll want to confirm specific features during your planning. Prospect Park Boathouse and Central Park Conservatory Garden provide accessible options with proper pathways for all your guests. Always ask about specific accommodations like wheelchair ramps elevators and accessible restrooms when you're researching potential venues to ensure everyone can fully participate in your celebration.

How Can Guests Participate Remotely at New York Weddings?

Historic Manhattan venues can make remote guests feel included by incorporating virtual tours during ceremony breaks while Midtown Loft & Terrace supports interactive platforms that go beyond simple passive streaming. You might consider venues in Chelsea or SoHo that can enhance those famous skyline views with live streaming that includes interactive elements like virtual photobooths live chats or virtual toasts. These features help create genuine engagement for participants joining your special day from afar.

“David and I just had our wedding here this past Saturday. I could not ask for a more perfect venue - from the scenery, the beautiful Enchantment Garden, the proximity to the Falls and downtown Ithaca, to the amazing staff, food and service, we highly recommend the Inn at Taughannock Falls for a wedding venue, as well as a place to just stay the night and have an AMAZING meal from the restaurant (which we did the Thursday night before the wedding). All of our guests loved their accommodations, and Hillside house in particular served as the best "hang out", groomsmen getting ready, and after party spot. The full kitchen came in clutch for after party snacks and getting ready food. The Victorian Inn was literally perfect for hair and makeup and the fairly new 3rd salon is the ideal set up attached to a huge balcony overlooking the lake. What really made this wedding venue was the staff though. Later into the planning process, Amanda Hickey became our planner, after our previous planner Kelsey (who was also great) left. From day one Amanda was a rockstar - she was kind, thoughtful, helpful, extremely competent and organized. I did not feel like I had to start from scratch all over again with a new planner. She picked everything right back up and was key in making our perfect wedding day become a reality! Additionally, we would like to thank Stephenie who was very helpful throughout the process (including with getting us Cornell Dairy Bar for dessert!), Chef Justin, the pastry chef, Tania-Lynn, Loma, Gillian (so helpful attending to the bride the morning of the wedding and blocking traffic at the Falls first look), Carson (our personal server through the night who was so kind!!), Chloe, and all the other banquet staff! Our food options were impeccable and, while the short rib and halibut were slightly drier than preferred, they still tasted good! The cocktail hour stations and hor d'ourves were OUTSTANDING, and I must particularly thank and call out the Inn's chef and pastry chef making gluten free versions of everything for me (from the bread course, to Lobster puff pastry, and even special muffins at the Sunday breakfast) - and they did such a good job with it!!! All in all, this place is amazing and we highly recommend people have their wedding venue here (or at least visit it!). We cannot wait to come back to visit for our anniversaries too.”

“Osmica at Spring Trail Farm was the most magical venue for our wedding weekend. Allie and Kurt are so kind, thoughtful, welcoming, and skilled, and worked with us to make our wedding day, and the whole weekend, so special. Being able to stay on site the whole weekend allowed us to have so much quality time with our friends and family from the rehearsal dinner to farewell breakfast, and times by the fire at night. The farmhouse breakfast was delicious, and thoughtfully planned to accommodate our wide range of dietary restrictions. Allie did an unbelievably beautiful job with the flowers and we are still getting compliments on them! She made every single arrangement with us in mind and they came out absolutely gorgeous. Allie and Kurt were both super helpful in coordinating with vendors as they arrived which made everything so easy. In addition to the wedding ceremony and reception, we hosted a rehearsal dinner and a farewell breakfast on site and Allie and Kurt helped everything run so smoothly. We ended up with absolutely perfect weather the whole weekend, but Allie was great about talking through different options with us in case it was cold or rainy. We did rent a tent heater for the barn since it was late October, which was great for peace of mind and easy to turn on or off if we needed. We love how focused on sustainability the venue is, and that we could really plan a wedding that reflected our values and our love of the area and of nature, and that was unique to us. There is so much room to make it your own. Allie worked with us throughout the planning process, answering questions, offering ideas, and sharing excellent vendor recommendations. She made sure to set up multiple check in times, but was also available to answer our random emails as things came up. Again, I wholeheartedly recommend Osmica, the venue is so special and Allie and skirt are truly such kind, warm, wonderful people. Thank you, Allie and Kurt for a dream weekend. We feel so lucky to have gotten to know you both, to enjoy the farm for the weekend (and through your flowers and produce anytime we visited), and to have had the most magical day for our wedding. Literally a beautiful classic venue with such potential to make any brides dream come true. We rented the entire hotel for our reception all 19 rooms and it was perfect for our guests. The bridal suite room is beautiful with a whirlpool tub and was perfect for my wedding party to get ready for the ceremony in. Our ceremony was elsewhere but I could see someone have everything right at the Sherwood and it being completely beautiful. Greg was absolutely wonderful to work with. There are 2 venues to choose from a formal venue room on the 1st floor and a basement bar venue which we rocked and danced our reception into the early morning hours. The photos are to die for trust me!! And, the town of Greene is wonderful and welcoming.”

“I toured and had brunch at Diamond on Seneca over the summer, and I was so excited to see this new venue is now opened! There is a wide and spacious terrace with gorgeous views of Seneca Lake, great for cocktail hours or even a ceremony. The food and cocktails are outstanding with lots of variety. The service was top notch, no surprise as this owner also owns New Park a very popular and beautiful venue spot closer to Ithaca. However, one other standout feature is the main dining room- complete with a floor to ceiling fireplace and huge windows with that beautiful lake view. This roomy dining room has so many possibilities: a winter wedding with snow, a fall wedding without worries of the weather - and still views of the lake and foliage, alternative options for Spring where it can be muddy or July where it's so hot. All of those concerns go away! This new space I am sure will book fast.”

The care and attention that was paid by every single staff-person, vendor and employee was second to none. The venue is STUNNING and you can tell how much care went into making the space everything any couple would want from a wedding venue. It would be very difficult to find a venue and team that exceeds what you will get at the Sinclair. Every member of the Sinclair and Rosalies team were as communicative as possible. Anytime we reached out throughout the planning process, we got quick and thorough responses. There was no guessing about how our day would go.
