How much do wedding & reception venues cost?

The cost of wedding venues varies, with factors influencing cost including size, location, guest count, and, most importantly, whether things like catering and rentals are included. The more a reception venue near you includes, the higher the cost. When considering venues, try to compare prices apples-to-apples. If one venue includes catering and rentals in their pricing and the other doesn’t, you need to figure out how much additional cost those outside vendors would be to make a true comparison. Before booking, be sure you’re aware of additional costs outlined in your contract, like parking fees and weather-related considerations (adding a tent, etc.).

What questions should we ask wedding venues?

When talking with a potential venue, always ask about 1) their availability and 2) their capacity. Some popular venues book up peak season Saturdays nearly 2 years in advance—if your first choice date isn’t available, consider your flexibility on day of the week and year. While maximum capacity is non-negotiable, venues might have guidance on what guest count will be most comfortable. Also, you’ll want to understand what is and is not included in the venue’s fees. Some include catering, tables and chairs, and linens, while others offer just the raw space. These venues are often less expensive because you are only paying for the space itself, and you’ll have to bring in outside vendors

“Bakers Ranch is a team of informed wedding professionals who are experts in the unique art of weddings. Our wedding day felt like pure magic, and it is truly thanks to the incredible team at this wedding venue. Our guests were in awe of the space, and we received so many compliments regarding the décor, drinks, food, photographer and overall experience. My husband and I put a lot of time and research into finding the right wedding venue for us, and we walked away from our wedding day with a feeling of pride for our selection, and gratitude for the support we received. We looked at venues across three states. It was a little overwhelming and emotional, knowing that the venue would dictate so much of our time as an engaged couple and ultimately, our one wedding day. Bakers Ranch immediately stood out to us, it was an all-inclusive wedding venue that would eliminate some stress of planning. It had a gorgeous green backdrop of ancient oaks and rich foliage. “WILLOWDALE DELIVERS ON EVERY LEVEL!!! We could not have imagined a more perfect day in our wildest dreams and the Willowdale venue and team were a HUGE part of that. The Coach House Suite was beautiful and clean and a great way to start our day. The mansion and surrounding park showed off for our fall wedding - the landscaping was impeccable, the set up under the tent made our mouths drop, and the team (with special shout out to Jeanine) executed every one of our many details. The food was delicious - like actually good not just good for a wedding. The whole team at Willowdale was calm and knew how to execute on the day-of. They made having our pup there for the ceremony easy and meaningful. They also have a great list of star studded vendors (especially our DJ - Mark Dixon!). The team also ensured we could incorporate cultural traditions seamlessly. And the cookies!! Could not recommend more highly! One tip for the brides with a million details - the Willowdale team is incredible, but they do not have the capacity to plan all your details (they are too busy killing it for the couples getting married that month at the venue). If you have a lot of moving parts, might be worth a planner.”

“My husband and I were looking for a high value, reasonably-priced venue in the Brookly area and we found it in DEITY. We were immediately impressed by DEITY wedding packages. We were able to find a package that best fit our vision and budget. It’s really hard to imagine that we could have gotten a better deal for our money anywhere else, especially when you consider that the tax is already baked in upfront without any hidden surprises. DEITY is amazing, we couldn’t have picked a better venue for our small and intimate wedding. The whole staff was very friendly and very accommodating, Anna our event coordinator was always very helpful and guided us with any questions we had. The food was excellent, the table setup was perfect with the family style setting. The Chef was so hospitable, he stopped by to make sure we were pleased with the food. The bottom line is, on the day of our event, DEITY showed up and executed flawlessly, from the decor, to the food, to the event management. We have been getting non-stop compliments from our friends and family about how awesome the wedding was and how much fun they had. “We had our wedding at Olio in April 2025, and it was the perfect venue. We wanted something with an industrial vibe and large space, but the beautiful hardwood floors, ability to customize the space, and the welcoming owner, Sarah, are what truly sold it for us! As an LGBTQ couple, the most important thing to us was to be surrounded by people who support us. Sarah has created an inclusive place for all. Through her venue she is able to uplift a diverse range of communities and cultures. This shows to be a priority to Olio, so if you are looking for welcoming and inclusive, this is the place to be! The space itself is beautiful and has the option to bring in basically any kind of decor you could want. They offer several in house add ons including the string lights we chose to do. Olio provided a large list of preferred vendors, with the option to bring in any other vendors with approval. We used several from the preferred list and they were all amazing! The day of our wedding ran flawlessly. The Olio staff, along with our day of coordination (Without a Hitch), created a welcoming environment for our guests and ensured the day ran smoothly. For starters…the owner Maria took time BEFORE we even saw the venue to call me to introduce herself and tell me a little about the venue. She followed up a few days later. That costumer service alone sold me. I feel absolutly in love with the venue. The staff. I cannot say enough wonderful things about them. Included in the package are wedding planners. Sydni was my main girl. I will forever be so insanely greatful for her! She is by far the best wedding planner ever! I don’t know how my wedding would have gone without her. Ally and Helen were my day of planners and they were beyond amazing!! The three of them were my dream team! Every detail was handled smoothly, and we didn’t have to worry about a thing. The food was delicious, and our guests are still raving about how much they enjoyed it. You have to do the European deserts because those were delicious. The Villa truly exceeded our expectations and gave us the wedding day we had always hoped for. They even worked with us to accommodate some Ukrainian traditions and if you have foreign family that are worried, trust me you’re in good hands. We can’t recommend The Saphire Event Group enough it’s the perfect place to celebrate such a special occasion! I’d also recommend doing the inclusive package, the dj and florist were awesome.”

Founded in 1814, The West Boylston Company was a large textile manufacturer in West Boylston, MA. At the turn of the century the company faced a crisis: the site of their mill would be flooded to form the Wachusett Reservoir. Instead of abandoning the mill, the company dismantled it brick by brick and shipped it to its new home in Easthampton, where it was rebuilt on the banks of the Lower Mill Pond. “Look up hidden gem in the dictionary and you will find The Sanctuary. Hosted a baby shower for my brother and his girlfriend, and I can’t say enough about how amazing the experience was. From start to finish, Alfonso was incredibly helpful, making the entire planning process seamless. On the day of the event, Kat and the staff were fantastic. Can’t beat immaculate views, great ambiance and good food and drinks. 10/10 recommend booking for your next special event, I promise you won’t be disappointed.”

“Green Acres Event center was absolutely gorgeous! It caught our eyes online and we immediately wanted to see it in person! We went and toured, were greeted by friendly staff and showed around the property! From the beauty of the barn on the outside the the gorgeous detailing and sparkle from the chandeliers on the inside all the way to the stunning bridal suite, we knew when we walked through the doors this was our wedding venue! Robyn was absolutely amazing to work with from any questions I had while planning all the way through the day of. She made the day seem seamless and even helped me stay calm in the chaos! I would choose this venue over and over again! Our guests loved it and had wonderful time! The only complaint we heard is that they wished there was a bathroom on the second floor where the dinner and dancing was but other than that we had no complaints! Everyone should consider using this venue!”

“Wedding venue shopping is a lot on a couple. It takes time and energy and can be very stressful. However, when we say we found the perfect place we mean it. Donauschwaben’s was one of our venue choices coming highly recommended by our friends and family already. We reached out through their website and within no time we got an immediate response from the Christine, Event/ Wedding planner to set up a meeting together. She is not only extremely kind, but had everything organized so beautifully to choose from it was a no-brainer to choose this venue. She even recommended our DJ who had played a previous wedding there who was incredible. All communication leading up to our big day was efficient and layed out easily for us to understand. Our checks were deposited in a timely manner by the venue, our tasting was so nice and so delicious. The no pressure wedding planning was worth every penny spent. Our wedding day was so special and so beautiful from start to finish from the ceremony, to the cocktail hour, to our lovely reception to follow. Not only was Christine present the day of, but the staff was also on their A game all night long. Everyone was so incredibly friendly and kind, we felt like royalty. We both highly recommend this venue and if you do, definitely get the Schnitzel, Prost! The only recommendation to the venue would be to update their beverage packages to include seltzers such as High noons or White claws. “Choosing the Red Barn for our wedding venue was the best decision we made!! The venue is absolutely gorgeous, the staff and on-site coordinators are absolutely incredible, and everything was so seamless from beginning to end, from the planning stages to the wedding day. Our venue coordinator Emily was a dream—she was so easy to work with and made the process a breeze: After we booked all our vendors ourselves and planned all our details, we met with Emily multiple times to talk about the day-of, and she was there on-site to make sure everything went smoothly (including setting up our decor, cuing the music and recessional/processional for our ceremony, keeping the timeline on track, and handling everything else that came up during the wedding day). Our day was absolutely perfect! She’s a superstar! For the venue itself, we can’t recommend it enough. The reception space is stunning, the foyer area for cocktail hour was perfect, and there’s a bridal suite for the bride/groom and bridal party. Staying at their sister property, the Stage House Inn gave us access to a shuttle service to and from the inn to the venue, which made the wedding day so easy (and the hotel is great!) We didn’t use the outdoor spaces as much because we got married in December, but we took some photos and the golf course and brick architecture were perfect backdrops. Overall, we really cannot recommend the Red Barn enough. From the absolutely amazing, friendly and welcoming staff (from the sales team to coordinators to catering and bar staff) to every single detail, we’re so happy with our wedding! If you’re considering booking the Red Barn, do it!”

“Incredible. The Flagstaff House exceeded our expectations in every way. When we were initially brainstorming our wedding we wanted to prioritize the food and the music, aiming for a "supper club" vibe, and Flagstaff certainly knocked it out of the park. We decided on a day time lunch wedding and it was so much fun. Our guests couldn't stop talking about how incredible the event was - the 5 star food, the delicious drinks, the wait staff's attentiveness, the VIEWS. Annie coordinated our event and she was absolutely wonderful. A true professional who is accommodating to all ends. Even when we weren't sure about something, Annie was always there with an excellent suggestion on how to execute. The wait staff come around and take drink orders, as opposed to the typical wedding bar that has a huge line. The kitchen accommodated all food and allergy restrictions with ease, and the bar staff even created some delicious fall cocktails on our behalf. We couldn't be happier with our ceremony overlooking the flatiron mountains. The location is truly special. They've made us raving fans and we will certainly be back for a "regular" dinner service soon.”

Built in 1927 as an all-boy Catholic boarding school. It eventually evolved into a renowned military school for boys. Throughout its history the school stayed true to its Catholic roots and the nuns who served and taught here. Operating until 1982 the stories written within its walls are still told today. Re-emerging with a new mission and purpose in April of 1991, Nazareth Hall was reborn. It is in this picturesque place, reminiscent of castles of old, that brides come to be married and celebrate with family and friends in grand ballrooms. “BOOK WITH NAZARETH HALL!! I can not say enough good things about this wedding venue. First of all it’s gorgeous!!! And they checked all of our boxes and more. We were looking for an all inclusive venue and that is just what they do. Venue, catering, alcohol and ceremony and reception all in one place! Their wedding coordinators make the wedding planning process so easy. They were available for any email or phone call any time. They provide you with a preferred vendor book which is amazing and helped us pick ALL of our vendors. The food and bar service were great and I got so many compliments from family and friends. Last but not least they provide you with a day of coordinator! She took all the stress away on the wedding day, communicated with the preacher, musicians, etc and made sure everyone was lined up correctly! As a bride I couldn’t appreciate this enough! She also brought my husband and I drinks all night so we could stay with family and friends and dance and didn’t have to worry about going down to the bar. Nazareth hall is amazing and I can’t say enough great things about them! If you are looking for a wedding venue look no further!”

“Overall, we would absolutely choose Ashton Gardens Corinth again. We had a wonderful experience with the venue and Walter’s Wedding Estates overall, and I’m sharing this review in hopes it helps future couples researching venues. First, our wedding planner and coordinator, Becca, was incredible. She is extremely organized, a great communicator, and such a kind person. Our day would not have been the same without her. She kept everything running smoothly behind the scenes, checked in on us throughout the day, and truly made us feel supported and cared for. Venue: The beauty of Ashton Gardens is truly unmatched. The chapel is breathtaking, and I will never forget the moment the doors opened for me to walk down the aisle. The bridal suite was exactly what I hoped for and comfortably fit me, my seven bridesmaids, both moms, and our hair and makeup artists without feeling crowded. The groom’s suite is smaller, so the groom and his groomsmen chose to get ready off-site, which worked fine for them. One thing we loved is that the reception space is just a short walk from the chapel, making the transition to cocktail hour and the reception very easy for guests. The reception hall is spacious and offers a lot of flexibility for floor plans. We had 142 guests, plus a rented dance floor and dueling piano players, and the space felt perfect. One thing we wish we had known before booking is that the “included” rehearsal hour is only offered Monday–Thursday. Rehearsals outside those days require an additional fee. Food & Drinks: We chose the exceptional catering and bar package through Walter’s. Unfortunately, the food ended up being our least favorite part of the wedding, which is the only reason we are giving a four-star review instead of five. Several guests mentioned their meals were cold or dry, and we later learned the last table served received noticeably smaller portions, which was disappointing given that our final guest count was submitted well in advance. However, the team did a great job accommodating guests with dietary restrictions. Along these lines, we were disappointed that there was no opportunity to have an actual tasting to choose our menu, so we chose a chicken and steak duet as a safe choice. We did attend a Walter’s showcase, but they only had pork, fish, or chicken to try that night. Since we had fewer than 150 guests, we paid to have both bars open, which we highly recommend to avoid long lines. Guests had great things to say about the bartending services, and the signature drinks were fantastic. Vendor Package: The vendor package was a huge benefit. Not having to worry about rentals like linens, plates, glassware, and tables saved us a lot of time and stress. The vendors we worked with through the package were professional, communicative, and wonderful to work with.”
