“We worked with Genesis Delight Catering at the recommendation of our venue manager at Sweeney Barn. We formed a close working relationship with Dianna over the course of wedding planning, as we also contracted her as our day of coordinator through her event planning business, Sublime Event Coordination. GDC and Dianna have a strong working knowledge of Sweeney Barn and close working relationships with the venue manager, which makes them a great option if you're having your wedding there.
Pros of our experience with GDC:
-They have an extensive menu and are willing to be flexible to match your vision. My family is predominantly located in New York, and New York weddings tend to have very over the top cocktail hours. That was not common in the standard packages offered by the caterers we spoke to in Virginia. However, through the use of their extensive party platter options and Dianna's expertise, we were able to add more into the cocktail hour than the standard options and still stay within budget. It wasn't a New York cocktail hour, but there were plenty of options and no one went hungry.
-GDC provided the bar (which honestly wasn't overly expensive and saved us the pain of having to coordinate bringing our own alcohol, which no one wants to deal with on the day of their wedding) and worked with us on identifying signature cocktails that could be batched by their bartenders based on our preferences. They also worked with us to swap out some of their standard wine and liquor options to similarly priced items that we enjoy.
-Sweeney Barn only has a warming kitchen, and we appreciated Dianna working with us to ensure that we could still have a small dance set at the start of our reception without impacting the quality of the food.
-GDC works directly with rental companies, saving you the trouble (we rented Chiavari chairs), and they have nice complementary table setting options. Props to Dianna for identifying a floral napkin option in stock to fit with our overall decor theme!
-Staff made sure the bride and groom were taken care of at all times, which was a really nice touch.
We received many compliments on the food, including the presentation of entrees at dinner. Strongly recommend GDC, especially if you're working at one of their frequented venues like Sweeney Barn, to make your planning and execution as seamless as possible.”
