For a special day infused with the spirit of creativity and culture, consider the Walters Cultural Arts Center for your wedding day! With its classic red-stone architecture, stained glass features, custom woodwork ceiling arches, concert-quality sound system, and fine art gallery, the Walters is one of the westside’s most treasured sites for wedding ceremonies, receptions, and other special events. Whether you’d like an intimate family reception for 40 guests, an extravagant party for 200, or an outdoor reception on the lawn, the Walters provides a variety of amenable and affordable options for your big day. Located in the heart of Hillsboro’s historic downtown, this former church is a bustling nexus of cultural activity. Our facility is open Tuesday through Saturday, with private rentals available after 1 pm on Saturdays and for the full day on Sundays and Mondays.

Walters Theatre

With classic red-stone architecture, stained glass, & custom woodwork ceiling arches, the Walters Theatre is a gorgeous backdrop for your special day.

The Walters Theatre was built in the 1940s and still features its original red-stone walls, stained glass, custom woodwork ceiling arches. The main floor is 2,150 square feet of hardwood dance floor, with a 37 square foot elevated stage. Other amenities include: concert-quality sound system, a grand piano, photo booth area, and VIP room for getting ready. The room lends itself to a variety of floor plans and tables, chairs, and set-up are included, along with audiovisual support.

    A Dream Venue That Exceeded Every Expectation

    Walters Cultural Arts Center was an absolute dream venue and truly deserves a 10/10 rating! From the moment we walked in, we were blown away by how beautiful, clean, and well-maintained everything was. The space itself is stunning and created the perfect atmosphere for both our ceremony and reception. The staff went above and beyond every step of the way. They were organized, responsive, and genuinely cared about making our day as smooth and special as possible. No detail was overlooked, and they made sure everything ran seamlessly, which took so much stress off of us. One of the things we loved most was how versatile and elegant the venue is. It was easy to personalize and truly make it feel like our wedding. Our guests couldn’t stop complimenting how gorgeous everything looked and how smoothly the event flowed. If you’re looking for a venue that is not only beautiful but also backed by an incredible team that truly cares, Walters Cultural Arts Center is the perfect choice. We are so grateful we chose this venue for such an important day it exceeded every expectation we had!

    Beautiful Hillsboro venue!

    As a caterer, this venue is a favorite of ours! It is easy to find and get to, beautiful, and the staff is always great to work with. Our team is also in Hillsboro, so it is close to our location which makes catering there great! The have tables and chairs onsite, as well as a prep kitchen, which is convenient for the client and vendors. The space is very adaptable as well -- I've seen weddings held here, memorials, cocktail parties and more. Including my own highschool prom! 110% recommend checking out this venue, if you are looking for a Hillsboro event space with beautiful architecture.

Yes, we have free self-parking onsite, along with overflow parking options nearby.
Yes, our venue is fully accessible, with ramps leading up to the entrance and automatic door opener on one set of the entrance doors for easy access. All levels of the building are accessible by elevator and there are ADA accessible restrooms on multiple levels, including multi-stall restrooms and single user. We have designated parking close to the entrance for people with disabilities and service animals are welcome inside our venue.
Our theatre package includes six hours from start to finish, including the time it takes to load in, decorate, and clean up at the end. Additional time can be added on by the hour. Our gallery package four hours from start to finish, including the time it takes to load in, decorate, and clean up at the end. Additional time can be added on by the hour.
Once you’ve paid the initial reservation fee to book your rental, it will not be refunded if your rental is canceled. If your rental is canceled within 48 hours of the rental date, your entire rental fee will be forfeited. If unforeseen circumstances cause the Walters Cultural Arts Center to cancel your reservation, your rental fees will be refunded in full. If the Walters is closed due to inclement weather, your rental date will be rescheduled at no cost to you. If a suitable date cannot be identified, you will be refunded in full.
Yes, we allow service of beer, wine, and champagne. Hard alcohol is permitted in mixed drinks only. You are required to have a licensed OLCC server for your rental but are allowed to use any service provider you would like for catering and bartending services. Please request information about our full Alcohol Usage Policy when booking.
Yes, general liability insurance is mandatory for all events, even if you’re not serving alcohol during your event. This insurance needs to be purchased through our vendor.
Our peak season for bookings is May through November, so inquiry early for those dates.
Though we have more availability during December and January through April, it's still a good idea to inquire early about specific dates.
Tables and chairs, basic audiovisual package with complimentary consultation with our staff about AV needs, 1-hour complimentary walk-through for rehearsal, staff support during event (cleaning not included). Rental spaces and other amenities included will vary by package.
