The Takk House

Previously a Knights of Columbus building, The Takk House has been transformed into a unique one of a kind space featuring original breathtaking architecture, beautiful wrapping staircases, two large ballrooms (one comes equipped with a built in shuffleboard!), custom designed suites for getting ready, newly renovated restrooms and food staging facilities. The flexibility of the space lets you stick with its minimalist beauty or create a one of a kind atmosphere – it’s up to you and your imagination and vision.

- Use of ballroom - Use of bar/parlor space - Day of Coordinator - Custom Floor Plan Creation - Event setup/breakdown - Custom linen selections - Bathroom facilities - Use of Food Prep area featuring ample counter space, sink, trash cans, eight outlets. There is a separate service entrance into the kitchen from back alley. Caterers may opt to bring in additional cooking equipment. - Cleaning before and after the event - (3) coat racks and approximately 150 hangers - Commercial garbage removal

    Best Day of Our Lives!

    Working with Heidi and her team at Takk House was the most amazing experience. Knowing that they had almost everything handled made our wedding, typically one of the most stressful things in life, a breeze. Not only did they exceed our expectations, they literally blew us and our family away. I could not have imagined our wedding with any other venue.

Our rates vary depending on the time of year, guest count, hours of usage and what you will be using the space for. Please reach out with some details of your event, estimated attendance, and timing and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
Please email us to discuss all the options we have to offer. We love coming up with custom menus! Takk House does not currently offer any onsite food catering options. We work very closely with local catering companies and are happy to assist you in connecting with them!
Yes! As of July 2019 we have a brand new air conditioning unit!
Included in all wedding and large event rentals are tables and chairs and any dining linens you may need. Delivery and setup are provided by Takk House. Please contact us for more additional information and to see a variety of rental options in our catalog.
Takk House has a curfew of 12am. Weddings and events must end at 11pm and load out must be completed by midnight. All of your decor must be cleaned up and removed at that time unless you have made prior arrangements to pick up next day. Don't worry, that's when your pub crawl can start. ;)
Yep! We have two suites available for you to change, hang out, and mentally prepare for the night ahead. Getting ready packages allow you access as early as 9am.
We have a portable handicap ramp that can be setup at our back entrance if needed. Unfortunately, our restrooms are not handicap accessible given their historic nature.
On the street or there are 3 parking garages within a few blocks of Takk House. We can also give you contact info to set up a trolley, shuttle or valet service.
Takk House will do the heavy duty cleaning (dusting, sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, etc) before and after your event. In order to ensure no additional cleaning charges the full breakdown procedure (listed in your contract) must be completed by you or your caterer.
Yes! Takk House is in the heart of downtown Troy and there are a ton of great bars and places to get some late night treats. We can provide you with a list and even a map! Don't forget you can head right downstairs to Franklin Alley Social Club!
We do! We can provide you with a list of caterers, florists, DJs, photographers, planners, and other vendors that we have worked with in the past and highly recommend.
We do not have any designated outdoor space but we have been known to throw a killer block party in our alley if you are looking for a unique cocktail hour. There are also several public parks nearby if you'd like some outdoor pictures and some even allow for public events with a simple permit.
Arrangements can be made for setup the day before your event if we do not already have bookings. For smaller events we allow access to the space 4 hours prior. Setup planning is usually done on a case by case basis.
Downtown Troy, NY currently has one hotel that is in walking distance to the venue. It is a Best Western Plus and very lovely! We recommend booking that right away if you decide to host your big event with us. A short drive away is a brand new Marriott and the Hilton Garden Inn. Troy also has many Airbnb options for families and guests who are traveling.
A 50% deposit of the rental fee is due at the time of booking. In addition, we require a credit card on file as security deposit, which will not be charged unless damages occur. The remaining balance is due 12 days before the event. Takk House accepts check, money order, and all major credit cards. The rest is history!
Takk House is a tobacco free establishment. Designated smoking areas can be found outside.
All candles must be contained in votives. Open flames are not permitted. If you have a specific question about open flames at your event please request approval prior to setup.
We pride ourselves in working with all vendors. If there is someone you would like to use it is okay with us as long as they have the proper licenses. Any catering establishment who has not worked with us prior is required to complete a contract and $500.00 deposit.
We have two bathrooms on the ballroom level.
No! We include a day of coordinator in all of our wedding packages. :)
Yup! We have a variety of different colors that you can choose from.
As long as we don't have an event the following day we can make arrangements for pickup between 10am-12pm.
If you are planning on holding your ceremony at Takk House all packages come with a rehearsal with your Takk House coordinator :)
