Bernard Family Theatre

Built in 1938 and newly renovated in 2025 from the original Historic Theatre, this beautiful, versatile event space is the gem of our campus.

A unique location for weddings, the Bernard Theatre is centrally located to complement most other spaces on our campus. Conceived as an adaptable production warehouse infused with memory and character, the space retains its 1930s wood trusses and connection to the outdoors while incorporating a freestanding, woven technical infrastructure. The Bernard Family Theatre includes a catering kitchen and easy access to the Cafritz Lobby and the Bernard Family Courtyard.

Root Family Stage at Omi's Pavilion

These outdoor venues, reconstructed in 2022, provide wonderful opportunities to experience the bucolic, rustic setting at Olney Theatre.

The Pavilion and Root Stage can be rented independently or together. Perfect for outdoor weddings, and may be added to rentals of other indoor spaces. For example, you may have your wedding ceremony in the pavilion and reception in the Bernard Theatre.

Mulitz-Gudelsky Theatre Lab

Olney Theatre’s versatile black-box theatre, this space can seat up to 150 for performances/ceremonies and 250 for seated events.

Built in 2000, this intimate and flexible space is perfect for meetings, receptions, talkbacks, private events, or small-scale performances or workshops. This space may be rented independently or as part of your use with the Mulitz-Gudelsky Theatre Lobby.

This package is great if you are looking for a ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all in one place! Use our brand new Bernard Family Theatre for your ceremony, transition to the Bernard Family Courtyard and Cafritz Lobby for your cocktail hour while catering flips the space, then return to the Bernard Family Theatre for your reception. Please note reception furniture is not included in this package - you will need to work with catering or another vendor for those rentals.

Yes, we have up to 250 spots. If there is an internal performance occurring the day of your rental, overflow parking is available across the street. A shuttle is available at an additional cost.

Each Event/Wedding package in our indoor spaces includes the following: - (1) Technician to support white wash lighting & up to 2 handheld microphones - Access to (2) Dressing rooms and (1) Green room - Catering kitchen/nook area - Theatre Lobby Space - Ceremony seating - Podium - Small platform (Bernard Family Theatre only)
You can select our 4-hour, 8-hour, or 12-hour event rental package. Additional load-in time is available at the rates below. Bernard Family Theatre: $400 per hour Mulitz-Gudelsky Theatre Lab: $300 per hour Root Family Stage at Omi's Pavilion: $200 per hour
Yes, you will need to get event insurance and provide a certificate of insurance to the Rentals Manager. Please see requirements below. Minimum amount of $1,000,000 per occurrence/$2,000,000 aggregate. Individuals may purchase Event Insurance through their insurance carrier. Such insurance shall provide that thirty (30) days notice of cancellation be given and shall include Olney Theatre Center name and address as an additional named insured therein.
Should the couple at any time cancel their wedding, Olney Theatre Center will retain the 50% deposit paid upon signing of the agreement. Any separate security deposit will be returned to the couple. Olney Theatre Center reserves the right to cancel an event and/or terminate the event due to inclement or hazardous weather, damage to the premises, or other necessary conditions at the venue's discretion. The couple will receive a 50% refund of amounts paid if the event cannot be rescheduled to a mutually convenient alternate date and time. The remaining balance will become a credit for the licensee to use towards a future rental.
Our peak season changes each year due to our production calendar. Most rentals take place in December, June, July, & August.
