About this venue

A wedding at Hildene is about more than being at one of Vermont’s most beautiful places. You and your guests deserve an authentic Vermont experience and you will begin that experience by walking through The Lincoln Family Home to your wedding ceremony in our historic formal garden. From high on a promontory, you look out to the Taconic Mountains to the west and the Green Mountains to the east, with stunning views of rolling fields and the famed Battenkill River Valley 300 feet below. Your guests will be treated to beautifully prepared fresh local food. Some ingredients will even have been grown at Hildene Farm. And, by having your wedding at Hildene you gain the added satisfaction of helping to support one of America’s great cultural heritage sites. The home and estate are now owned by the non-profit Friends of Hildene.

Something old and something new is a wedding tradition at Hildene.

• Formal Gardens & Terrace Set on a high hill, Hildene's grounds offer breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and the sweeping valley below. Restored formal gardens to the rear of the house are a beautiful backdrop for a celebration. • Event Tent Hildene's seasonal tent provides a gracious setting for any gathering up to 200 people. Its support building is equipped with a prep kitchen and beautifully appointed restroom facilities. Hildene hosts a number of programs throughout the year and is also available for private use for small group dinners and corporate receptions. • Beckwith Room Hildene's Beckwith Room in the Welcome Center is especially suited for board meetings, corporate retreats and presentations. When available, half day or full day gatherings can be paired with use of the event tent for breakfasts, lunches or dinners.

    The best day of my life, thanks to Hildene!

    Where do I even begin? We are still on a high from our wedding day, which took place about three weeks ago. Hildene was nothing short of spectacular. Not only were the incredible views, stunning gardens, and historic ambiance breathtaking, but the entire Hildene team was an absolute joy to work with. For starters, we chose to tour venues around Manchester, and after touring Hildene, it was a no-brainer for us. The private, in-depth tour made us feel as though Theresa and her team were genuinely passionate about the property and their roles. Hildene provides ceremony chairs, reception chairs and tables, and a beautiful setting where you work directly with their florist and catering partners. They also provide day-of coordination. All of this is to say that choosing Hildene means so many decisions and details are already taken care of, which makes the planning process that much easier. Next, I need to rave about the team: Theresa, Carmine, Anne, Nick/Pangaea (the caterer), Peggy/Lily of the Valley (the florist), and anyone else I may have missed. Theresa and the Hildene team made us feel as though we were the only wedding they had that entire year. They dedicated so much time and attention to us. We had MANY questions, especially since we ultimately decided not to work with a planner, and Theresa would spend so much time on the phone with us, patiently walking through every detail and answering all of our questions. Nick and Peggy were also a joy to work with. We made many edits and they were patient throughout all of it. The food was incredible, the tasting was so much fun, and the florals were absolutely beautiful. Peggy is so talented! On the day of the wedding, Theresa stuck by my side and handled everything with SUCH calmness and grace. She never seemed stressed or overwhelmed, which, in turn, helped us feel calm, too. She had everything under control! She even helped me bustle my dress! Our wedding day was a dream come true. We wanted a mountain and garden setting in Vermont, and the Hildene team brought that vision to life. All of our guests told my parents that Hildene was the most unique and stunning venue they had ever seen. Choosing Hildene as our venue was one of the best decisions we made throughout the entire wedding planning process. We cannot thank the entire Hildene team enough for helping make our wedding day so incredibly special. Kudos to the entire Hildene team!

    Carmine and Theresa at Hildene, The Lincoln Family Home, were responsive and attentive throughout the entire planning process. They were always willing to show us around the property when we stopped by for a visit, which helped us feel comfortable and confident in our decision to host our wedding there. The venue itself was simply stunning - Lincoln Hall is a wonderful addition that provided an unforgettable backdrop for our special day, even when we had to move the ceremony indoors due to rain. Carmine was our rock through the planning process, and his professionalism allowed us to forgo a planner or coordinator, as we knew he had everything covered. The team pivoted flawlessly when we had to move the event inside, ensuring our wedding day was nothing short of beautiful and memorable.
