About this venue

Nestled in a historic brick building built in 1936 on Vallejo Street, Grumpy’s has long been the heartbeat of San Francisco’s Embarcadero. The area was once known as the center of SF’s advertising & media world, home to the biggest agencies and TV/radio stations & Grumpy’s was THE spot. Everyone from ad creatives, on-air personalities to dock workers & construction crews could be found at Grumpys. After closing in December 2020, the pub is back under new ownership with a refreshed look and revamped menu. In addition to a menu that features pub classics like Smashburgers and Fried Chicken sandwiches, Grumpy’s now features “Grandma” style square pie pizza with house-made dough. With the Embarcadero area buzzing with new offices & businesses, Grumpy’s is ready to recreate its legacy as the neighborhood’s go-to spot for great food, drinks, and good times. We are excited to introduce Grumpy’s to a new generation of locals, welcome back it’s fans, and become your favorite hangout.

    Yes, all our facilities are wheelchair accessible.
    There are no room rental fees. We only require Food and Beverage Minimums/Package Rates.
    Your event booking includes a 4-Hour Event Duration. You may arrive up to 60 minutes prior for set up. Please note that at this time we will be closing out existing patrons and resetting the space for your event so it is not guaranteed to be empty and reset until your contracted event start time. At the conclusion of your event, we will often reset the space and reopen to the public. If you require additional setup or breakdown time, we will require additional minimum charges to accommodate this.
    We require a non-refundable deposit in place of a cancellation fee. This deposit will be credited towards your final bill otherwise.
