About John Barone Photography
John Barone Photography
I began my photo career in the commercial world. I photographed for many ad agencies, fashion clients and magazines. When I segued into the wedding world, I brought that style of fashion photography and lighting with me.
I truly feel that relationships are key to excellent photos. My clients become my friends, leading up to, during, and after their weddings. I don't ever want to work with a couple that refers to me as their photographer. I want them to drop the formal vendor/client wall. I'm just John and we are gonna have fun. I promise.

Beautiful Photos AND So Much Fun!
My husband and I went into wedding planning wanting to prioritize photography for our day. Weddings are known to go by “quickly,” or at least that was the note that many married couples gave us when wedding prepping. Because of this, my husband and I agreed that we wanted to be “particular” about our wedding photographer. John Barone was the BEST possible person to be with us on our day, and even though I don’t plan on ever getting married again, I would choose John a million times over! What really got us on board with John is his eye for capturing a moment. No matter the circumstance, John finds beauty in people and places, and we felt that whimsy really translated into his photography. For posed photos, John found the best lighting and angles, which is especially important since the lighting at our venue (Camelback) can be tricky at the top of the mountain. But for the more “guerrilla-style” candids (the photos we took outside after our first look), John allowed my husband and I to just “be.” My husband and I were enjoying each other’s company, and his photography captured those moments simply and elegantly. Also, it was raining for our first look, but John took care of us by finding little spots where we could avoid the mud (and he even provided adorable clear umbrellas). We had fun romping around in our crocs and didn’t let the rain stop us from capturing some really fun moments pre-wedding ceremony! Additionally, our first look was well-coordinated, especially considering I did a “fakeout” by having our brother-in-law surprise my husband before me. John coached me through what to do to not only make the moment feel natural, but also to get the best photos. Through both posed pictures or more serendipitous ones, John’s eye guided us throughout the whole photo process. But more importantly, no matter the photographical “circumstance,” my husband and I actually had FUN taking pics! Both my husband and I don’t really like having our picture taken, which poses a potential problem for a day where there is countless cameras in your face. John gives the perfect amount of direction that made me feel comfortable and beautiful while not feeling overly stiff. His fun personality and bright sense of humor also put me at ease. When taking our posed photos with our family, John even played the song “Superfreak” which was used during our “fakeout” first look—we truly had the BEST TIME taking our pics, which is something I thought I would never say as someone that doesn’t like having my picture taken! At the reception, John not only captured photos of our first dance (he actually had us “walk through” the dance pre-ceremony to make sure he could properly photograph our moves), but he also set up his black-n-white portrait area to take photos of our guests. What a memorable experience to take fun portrait shots versus a traditional wedding photobooth! We saw SO many of our friends and family get up to have their pic taken, insuring that they got to capture memories of the day too. TLDR: if you are getting married, PLEASE book John Barone. When looking at our wedding photos, we can see the love and the fun of that day, and I truly believe it is because of John’s keen eye and chill personality. His assistant Steph was also wonderful! Thank you John and team for being a part of the best day of our lives, and thank you for being able to capture it!

Stop Searching—This Is Your Photographer
We truly cannot say enough amazing things about our photographer, John! From the very beginning, he made the entire experience feel effortless and so special. Planning photos at the beach can be a little unpredictable, but they handled everything with such calm professionalism, and genuine enthusiasm. On the day of our shoot, John and his team went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and natural in front of the camera. Neither of us are used to being photographed, but they gave just the right amount of direction while still allowing us to be ourselves—and it shows in Every. Single. Photo. The final images completely blew us away! They captured not just how everything looked, but how it felt—the light, the emotion, the intimacy of the moment, all of it!! Looking through our gallery instantly takes us back to that day, and that’s something we’ll treasure forever. If you’re considering booking with them, DO IT! You won’t just get beautiful photos—you’ll get an experience that feels personal, meaningful, and truly unforgettable.

The best wedding photographer!
My wife and I got married at Camp Lindenmere on September 13, 2025 and after our first conversation with John we knew he was right photographer to capture our special day. He came recommended by our venue and we knew after speaking with him that his familiarity with the camp would be invaluable to take the stress out of our biggest day. He was so easy to communicate with and provided such valuable insight for how we wanted to structure the day. Leading up to the wedding he helped us with our scheduling and on the day of he was an absolute rock star. My wife and I felt so at ease never felt rushed nor like we were missing anything. And that's not to say anything about our photos, which came out absolutely stunning and perfect, and quick too! The last thing I'll say is if you can do the black and white photos during your reception go for it! They are beautiful and some of our favorite shots. We can't recommend John enough!

Awesome Photos!!
We could not have been happier with John and his team at Barone Photography. They made the whole process seamless from start to finish, and we are so pleased with our photos. Communication was always clear, concise, and we feel he really heard us and executed based on our preferences. There are so many things to consider when planning a wedding and budget. We are happy we chose Barone Photography, and would do so again! Thank you John and team!! - Molly & Tom

THE BEST
My husband and I looked over an obscene amount of photographers before we thankfully stumbled upon John Barone on The Knot. At the time, we were living in Philadelphia and planning our wedding for where we would be relocating to, just outside of Scranton. John shot our engagement photos in Philadelphia, and he did an incredible job. His personality immediately puts us at ease. This was huge for us because we are not the type of people who are naturals in front of the camera. What could have felt awkward didn’t, and that made the entire experience and the photos so much better. By no surprise, John himself was booked on our wedding day, but two members of his team, Denida and Michael, were there to shoot our wedding. Denida was absolutely hilarious while still being very professional, and Michael fit right in with the guys. They both made the day feel easy and comfortable, which is exactly what we needed on our wedding day. The editing did take time, but the saying really does hold true, good things come with time. My husband and I were completely blown away by how incredible our photos turned out. Every detail, and every moment was captured beautifully. If you want photographers who are not only kind and genuine, but also creative and have an incredible eye for detail, look no further. John Barone and his team are truly the best.
