Jack is a longtime Charlottesville-Albemarle resident, and currently lives in "downtown" Crozet. He's been a full time photographer in Charlottesville's wedding community for 20 years. Specialties include surprise engagements, and weddings ranging in size and complexity from elopements with a handful of guests, to multi-day celebrations with many hundreds of guests.

Having shot over 750 weddings, mostly in the Charlottesville area, I have a wide range of experience. I balance a friendly, low-key, documentary style with the ability to organize the formal shots, and coordinate with other vendors as needed, always in a flexible and professional manner. I have moved to a simple hourly fee with no minimum or maximum number of hours for 2024.

I work from a simple hourly rate of $600, which includes myself and (if needed) a 2nd photographer. Price includes edited high-resolution jpegs delivered in 2-3 weeks via electronic transfer, and transfer of ownership of the images.

    We feel so lucky to have had Jack Looney as our photographer for our wedding at Montfair Resort Farm this summer. From the very beginning, Jack was professional, kind, and so easy to work with—he immediately put us at ease and made the entire process stress-free. On the wedding day, Jack was everywhere without ever being intrusive. He captured every moment—big and small—with such artistry and attention to detail. Our photos are absolutely breathtaking; he not only documented the day but truly told the story of our wedding through his lens. The way he captured the light, the setting, and the emotions of our friends and family still takes our breath away. Beyond his talent, Jack has such a calm and warm presence. He made us and our families feel comfortable in front of the camera, and he somehow managed to wrangle our energetic crowd with ease and humor. We’ve received countless compliments from guests about how wonderful he was to work with, and of course, everyone is blown away by the photos. If you are looking for a wedding photographer in Charlottesville (or anywhere, really), we cannot recommend Jack enough. His work is timeless, heartfelt, and extraordinary—we will cherish these photos forever.

    Jack is so wonderful. From our first call, we knew that he would be our guy. He is so laid back yet still professional. It was easy for all of our guests to approach him for photos if they wanted. He kept an eye on the sunset and whisked us away for a few amazing shots. He quickly got the obligatory family shots out of the way, very painlessly. He even suggested another local place to go for our first look that was more private and so beautiful. He really looks out for you and what you want. Also, he works insanely quickly. He is really fast to reply to emails as well. You cannot go wrong with Jack. He did such a great job and helped us to relax. HIGHLY recommend him. Book him already!!

    Jack was exactly what we needed on our wedding day! He seamlessly wrangled our huge family into group shots, made us feel comfortable in front of the camera, and made helpful suggestions on backdrops and poses. We had so much fun capturing our day with him and Coe!
