D.S. Photography
Hi, I'm David, a Virginia-based photographer. Unlike many photographers, my introduction to the art of photo taking initially started off purely by accident. I believe everything happens for a reason and I am very thankful to be in the position I am in today.
Although I am based out of Virginia, I do travel to the surrounding states such as Washington DC, Maryland, and North Carolina to help capture meaningful moments for my clients. My experience has exposed me to various forms of photography and events including weddings, parties, portraits, and various adventures. I look forward to possibly working with you to help capture your vision.

From the very beginning, David was so laid back, easy to work with, and made us feel completely comfortable in front of the camera. Nothing ever felt forced or stressful, which made our wedding day even more enjoyable. He captured every special moment so beautifully, from the big emotional moments to the little candid details we’ll treasure forever. The photos turned out absolutely stunning and truly tell the story of our day perfectly. If you’re looking for a talented local photographer who is professional, fun, calming, and genuinely cares about their clients, I cannot recommend him enough. We are beyond happy with our photos and would choose D.S. Photography again in a heartbeat!

Great Job - Would Recommend
Mr. Shaw did an amazing job photographing our wedding. Communication was good leading up to the event. On the day-of, he took a lot of very good pictures, was very polite and professional, and he promptly sent us pictures afterward. We had a couple of specific requests that he graciously accommodated. We were very thankful to have Mr. Shaw and would highly recommend him.

Truly cannot say enough positive things about David of DS Photography! We had a family friend lined up to take photos for our October 2025 wedding and when those plans fell through, we were scrambling the month before to find a photographer that was amazing quality but wouldn’t break the bank. Enter David! From the moment we began emailing, David was professional, warm, and knowledgeable. David’s photography work truly speaks for itself (just check out his website!), and on top of that, he is professional, collaborative, and has a gift of making people comfortable and at ease behind the camera. Throughout shooting, he was helping to fix my veil, hold various sunglasses/bouquets, etc. and just being a calming presence throughout. My partner and I had several photographers as part of our wedding party, and David was so patient and kind as they made suggestions or gave ideas, which I feel like would not have happened with other photographers—it’s because he’s so confident in his own work he doesn’t feel threatened by others and welcomes input and collaboration. You can tell David genuinely loves what he does and is so passionate about capturing people’s once in a lifetime moments. He also was incredibly affordable—we paid for 10 hours of shooting and it was less than 1,500! Run don’t walk to book him! We will treasure our wedding photos forever and can’t wait to hang them up in our home. Thank you so much, David!

Perfect experience
David was the photographer for my last-minute tiny elopement/wedding in Gordonsville. He was exceptionally professional, friendly, and easy to work with. He was always quick to respond to messages and worked with us to have a plan for our wedding day so everything went smoothly. I would absolutely work with David again! Edited to add - I came to the business page to recommend to a friend and realized I somehow accidentally hit the wrong amount of stars on my original review! I’m so sorry!! This always was a 5 star experience!
