The Stylist Abroad is a luxury, bespoke on-location hair and makeup that happens to be queer owned. Unique beauty should be celebrated & no one should feel pressure to conform to any aesthetic box. Quality of style & products should be thoughtfully chosen. Details & integrity should never be overlooked or rushed. Styles should last regardless of how hard you dance. We are award winning, internationally published, licensed and LGBTQ+ affirming.

This is your special day & we’re here to serve you with our premier on-location services to create a bespoke look. Throw the rulebook out the window, let the pressure melt away - you do you & we’ll take care of the rest. Airbrush is offered at all locations and lashes are included. Curl certified and Equally Wed certified. Luxury, vegan products and experienced stylists .

While we always encourage a trial when possible if it’s not that’s ok. Instead, we will exchange oodles of emails & conduct a video call during which time we will meticulously go through all the same things we’d go through during a physical trial. In these cases, we also add time to your day of styling to have more consultation time as well as time for adjustments.

You bet! We travel as far as our passports will take us. We actually have loads of experience traveling for styling as well as fun. We create custom packages for exactly your needs & wants no matter where we’re going.

50 miles round trip from our home base is included, then we charge $.56 per mile. Anything over 150 miles or 1.5 hours in one direction requires lodging, anything over 8 hours driving requires a flight & rental car. In cases where it’s more cost-effective to have a flight & rental car instead of mileage we're fine with that option.

Anything over 150 miles in 1 direction is a “destination” event & requires 1-2 nights lodging + mileage. Over 200 miles but less than 8 hours drive requires 2 nights lodging + mileage. If a flight, we require a 3-night lodging minimum + a rental car. A $50 per day per diem for food is also required unless vegan food is provided.

We believe that beauty begins with kindness. So all the products we use are 100% vegan & cruelty free because we want a kinder, gentler, happier world free of suffering for ALL. Don’t worry, we're not mixing up concoctions in the kitchen or picking up items from an organic grocery store. They are all premium professional products.

As soon as you know we’re besties & fall in love with my work. But seriously, we tell brides in general once you find your person in any field book them! Things in the DMV area move fast so you don’t want to miss out. Typically people book 6 months out but some earlier & sometimes I have openings later. Just reach out as soon as your interested!

To secure your date a contract is created which you finish & sign. Then you pay a 30% retainer via square or Venmo . Once both items are in your date is secure. Your date is not secure until both of those items are completed & we can only hold your date for 5 day after our scheduled trial, (if you choose a trial first). Remaining balance isn’t due until 2 weeks prior to the event.

We have worked extensively with all curl patterns and are Ouidad certified. Time after time we’ve heard styling horror stories from curly girls & their styling experiences with other artists. We would never suppress your curls but instead, encourage them to thrive with tailored products & techniques. And yes, we can lay edges.

Yes, we are experienced with all the above listed. We'll either put the veil on or demonstrate to multiple people before we leave. While we are experienced with a wide range of different hair accessories & cultural origins, surely there are always new ones out there that we’d be eager to learn about.

Ideally a trial should be scheduled for 6-8 weeks prior to your wedding. We will reach out about 3-4 months prior to your wedding to secure the date. If you have a more complicated schedule please let us know and we can always schedule your trial further out to accomodate.

At the end of my services we will do touch ups & leave a standard touch up kit. If you’d like us to stay around throughout the day/evening with our concierge services for a fee of $75 per hour.

I had an amazing experience with The Stylist Abroad! Ashley, the owner, was absolutely fantastic and was incredibly communicative for the entire process. She answered every single question right away, and gave so much insight! For the trial and on the day of my wedding, my girls and I worked with Kim (hair) and Jenna (makeup), and they were both amazing. So kind, so friendly, and clearly knowledgeable! I was deciding between two hairstyles, and Kim was happy to try both in my trial. I had a couple things I wanted to change with my makeup, and Jenna was more than happy to accommodate! I was incredibly pleased with both looks on my wedding day, and everyone looked incredible!! I was definitely very blessed with the weather on wedding day, so that also helps, but hair and makeup stayed in place fabulously! The cherry on top is that everyone was just so sweet and easy to talk to!! Made the start of the day so pleasant and relaxed, and it seems like all my girls had a great time, too! Would absolutely recommend!!

We absolutely loved our experience with The Stylist Abroad! We felt incredibly welcomed and accepted as an LGBTQ couple. We had makeup services provided by Ashley. She was amazing and was able to tailor everyone's makeup to exactly what they wanted. She was very professional and always communicated quickly and clearly. I discovered The Stylist Abroad at an open house and I'm so happy I did! She was incredibly professional, the extensions were high quality, and made the hair rental experience so smooth and easy! After color matching my hair, she dropped off the extensions the day before the wedding and all I had to do was mail them back a couple days later in a sealed envelope she provided! The extensions blended into my hair so seamlessly and once my hair stylist put them on, I didn't feel them for the rest of the night. I highly recommend esp if you don't want to buy your own hair extensions!

I cannot recommend The Stylist Abroad enough. Ashley makes the entire process a legit breath of fresh air for a bride. My artist knocked my trial out of the park and day of for my mom and I as well. When can I get my makeup done again?!
