I began my floral journey in the early 90s in Des Moines, IA. While attending ISU as an art major, I found a program for floral design and fell in LOVE. The power of a 3 dimensional living medium completely captivated me and spoke to all of my creative senses! I was hired by a busy shop in downtown Des Moines located at the foot of the Capitol Building. Our location and clientele gave me plenty of exposure to upscale weddings and high end party design. With more than 25 years experience, I am passionate about setting the stage for your love story to be told. Let Design in Blooms bring your floral vision to life!
Our experienced designer and expert team brings fresh flowers to fit any style, from budget conscience to high end, we will work with you to get the day you dream of. Every Bride has a vision, and each love story is unique, so every wedding we handle is custom to fit your specifications, your personality and the vibe you want for your guests and your budget. We will guide you through the entire process from consultation to clean up, and together come up with a design plan that will highlight your space, make your guests feel honored and bring the attention center stage.

beautiful designs with a personal touch
Design in Blooms was an absolute dream to work with for our wedding flowers. From the moment we first met with the team, they were attentive, prompt, and so warm in getting to know us and understanding our vision. The proposed arrangements were truly artful and beautiful, with a boutique feel that perfectly complemented the style of our wedding. Prefacing this with the fact I am a bride who had DREAMED of having fuschia bougainvillea as the theme for my wedding florals. It is a flower I have grown up around between both sets of grandparents from Arizona to Florida and it is a color scheme and floral that means a lot to me. Unfortunately, it is a very very fragile plant with a lot of thorns and not something you are able to use easily. In addition to that, I wanted a totally different vibe on the inside of my venue than ceremony (white and green tropical). I brought this vision to multiple florists who were quite dismissive of my vision and budget... then in came Wendi. When I say she is a miracle worker, she truly is! Wendi took the time to talk me through all the flowers that could give off the same vibe as bougainvillea but still bet more durable to work with. She was also honest about what could be in budget and what wasn't and how we can achieve my vision within my budget. I was truly blown away with the final results. The ceremony and reception florals were more gorgeous than I could've imagined. AND MY BOUQUET! I mean just look at it. It is a tropical dream. I am so obsessed with how everything turned out and could not be happier than to have trusted Wendi & the Design in Blooms team with my wedding day.
