Your first dance is an opportunity to share with your community your confidence and trust in one another. I've been helping couples learn to connect for over a decade, and those experiences have convinced me that everyone can learn to dance together. I've performed for audiences of hundreds, won Favorite Competitor in the Lindy Hop Championships of Western Canada, and taught workshops both in Bellingham and abroad. I'm also a certified counselor actively working with couples (see my website below), and I bring my training to my lessons with you, treating you with dignity, respect, and understanding for the learning process.

Some dance instructors teach choreographed performances to couples, which can be a fun project, and can end up feeling like a talent show. I prefer to teach couples the skills they need to speak and listen with their bodies so that they can connect with one another and the music. These skills last beyond your first dance, and will serve you for life.

First Dance Prep

Description

Build the skills needed for a comfortable and confident first dance. Lessons focus on connection to one another and the music, and will give you the foundation to dance together for life. Most couples find that they're able to master all their desired skills in 3 lessons, but we can amend as needed - $85/hr.

    1st Dance Lesson Ever!

    Damian has prepped us for our first dance ever which is coming up next month! We are super excited. So thankful we found Damian as it was the best person to teach non-dancers to dance.

    Delightful dance classes

    Damian is such a fun and comfortable instructor. He’s emotionally intelligent and a talented dancer/choreographer. Damian helped us build a menu of options for dance moves that we could master. He also gave tips on music and shoes. We loved learning from him and feel proud of our improvement as dancers.

I usually find that couples can achieve all of their goals in 3 lessons, though some situations can do with less or more. We can add or remove lessons on the fly - the rate of $85/hr stays the same.
I am a swing dancer who has some experience in blues, tango, salsa, and waltz. I've found that the fundamentals of partner dancing can serve most situations. If your intended style of dance is outside of my areas of expertise, I have folks I can refer you to - don't hesitate to reach out!
