Q: What do you wear?

Cosmo Alleycats is a Vintage Dance Band. Our default formal attire is vests and ties for the male members. Emily Day wears a 40s-50s cocktail dress/day. If your wedding is 1920s-themed, she wears an elegant 20s day dress for the earlier portions, and a beaded flapper dress for the evening reception.

Q: Do you learn new songs?

Of course! Priority is first given to your ceremony music and your featured dances. Then we consider if your song request is appropriate for our both our band's instrumentation and the flow of the party.

Q: What makes you different from other musicians?

Cosmo Alleycats is a busy band that has been together since 2010. The band members prioritize our performances and bookings - therefore there is a high likelihood that the band members featured on our website will be the ones to perform at your wedding - with some slight exceptions given to illness or major career opportunities.

Q: Do you take music requests?

Yes! If we know the song and if it's appropriate for the moment, we will play it.

Q: Do you provide music for wedding ceremonies or cocktail receptions?

We provide live music for every element of your wedding - ceremony, cocktails, dinner and dance receptions.

Q: Can you provide speciality, religious, or ethnic musicians?

We provide some religious repertoire, but we are not involved in the hiring of specialty musicians.

Q: What is your style?

Cosmo Alleycats is a Vintage Dance Band - which means that we perform dance music from past decades. 1920s and New Orleans Jazz for cocktail receptions, Swing and Jazz Standards for Dinner, and Big Band, Classic R&B, Soul, Motown, and some 80s hits for dance receptions.

Q: How early do you come to set up?

We arrive 1.5 to 2 hours prior to our contracted start time, depending on the number of performance locations, to set up equipment.

Q: Do you provide other services, such as lighting or photo booths?

We provide everything you need for live sound. In addition to live music, we provide your wireless mics for ceremony and speeches, pre-recorded background music during breaks, and even offer to DJ the later portion of your wedding.

Q: What is your travel and break down fee?

Equipment set-up, breakdown, and travel is incorporated into our base rate. Travel fees are applied to wedding locations outside of a 1-hour drive from Oakland, CA.
