The Bill McGoldrick Acoustic Duo featuring Lauren Scudder, is a Berklee-trained guitar-and-vocals act built for weddings: ceremony, cocktail hour, and smaller receptions. Two voices, one guitar, no loopers, no tracks. We have played 1,800+ gigs over 17 years in Greater Boston and New England, including 500+ as this duo. Couples book us when they want live music that sounds like the room, not a playlist. Prelude as guests arrive, processional and recessional, cocktail-hour sets while photos happen, then dinner and first dances. We can do it all. Repertoire covers rock, pop, jazz, folk, Motown, and soul.

We are an acoustic duo, not a band with tracks. Two live voices and one guitar—no loopers, no backing tracks, no laptop. What you hear is what is happening in the room. That matters at a wedding. Ceremony music has to sit under vows without swallowing them. Cocktail hour has to fill a patio or lobby without turning into a concert. We read the room, and play your songs. Seventeen years and 1,800+ gigs in Boston and New England taught us the logistics couples never see: we bring professional equipment, wireless mic for the officiant, and multiple Bose L1 sound systems depending on the size of the wedding, that work indoors or outdoors.

    Perfection From Ceremony to Reception

    We couldn’t have been happier with Bill and Lauren! Everything flowed seamlessly, from the processional and recessional to cocktail hour and the music throughout most of our reception. We had initially envisioned live music only for the ceremony and cocktail hour, but Bill’s advice to have them stay into the reception was absolutely spot on. We’re so glad we listened. Their music created exactly the atmosphere we wanted for our wedding, and Bill and Lauren complement each other incredibly well. One of the absolute highlights was their rendition of “Dream a Little Dream” for my walk down the aisle. It was exceptional and made an already special moment even more memorable. From the planning and advice beforehand to the music on the wedding day itself, they were fantastic. We would recommend Bill McGoldrick Acoustic Duo without hesitation!

    Outstanding duo for our wedding!

    Bill and Lauren were absolutely perfect for our small wedding. Between Lauren's beautiful voice and Bill's awesome guitar playing, it created the perfect sophisticated atmosphere. Yes we have done three this year (2026), which included the ceremony, the cocktail hour and the reception. We are best for mid sized to small wedding (30-70 or so) when we are including the reception.
Yes and love it because we always end up adding them to our already very large repertoire. We try to keep it to 3-4 new tunes to learn.

I always ask our clients what the dress code is and we match that code and always try to take it up a notch.
We are an acoustic duo, we use the best equipment, but there is nothing fake about what we do, no loopers, no backing tracks. Check our videos, you will see and hear the difference. I believe that we are the very best at what we do. If you are looking for a full band, that is not us. But as one person said at a wedding recently " you make your guitar sound like an orchestra" and I do. You add our voices, no one touches us.
