About Cmartinmusic

Chris Martin

Solo Pianist

Chris Martin's piano playing will add intimacy, warmth and sophistication to your indoor or outdoor wedding, cocktail hour, or any wedding related event you are planning that requires live music. Chris has the talent to make music on your special day that is both beautiful and memorable. Chris Martin was a house pianist at the Ritz Carlton and Four Season hotels in Chicago for 19 years. Chris has played piano at corporate events and private functions in every major venue in the Chicago area. Chris has a vast repertoire that includes American standards, Jazz, Blues, show tunes, Rock, Pop, The Beatles, Sinatra and more.

I have 30 plus years of experience playing ambient music in hotels and at corporate functions and weddings. Twenty years of playing solo piano 40 plus hours a week made me very versatile. I have an immense repertoire committed to memory that includes music from all genres. I play long medleys of songs upbeat but unobtrusive.

Yes for a wedding I will learn one new song for a ceremony.
Experience and broad repertoire. I don't read songs from sheet music or fake books when I perform
Yes. I have a repertoire list that I give clients of things that I have committed to memory, approximately 700 songs across the full spectrum of music. I tell them if they choose me for their wedding they can go over the list and make choices and I will make the playlist for the reception or wedding prelude from their selections.
Yes that is my specialty.
no
No. I have played events at the Field Musem, Shedd Aquarium and the Museum of Science and Industry and have not had to provide private insurance. The vast majority of my work is done in venues that have a piano. I bring no equipment in and offer no concerns of liability.
I would describe myself as blues tinged jazzy with a mainstream sound equally weighted with an older pop music sensibility.
I rarely work equipment gigs so I have nothing to set up. If I do do the rare equipment job I usually require an hour to setup prior to performance.

I have none. I don't travel much outside of Chicago and suburbs.

No.I have played events at the Field Musem, the Adler Planetarium, the Art Institute, and the Museum of Science and Industry. I have never had to provide personal insurance. The vast majority of my gigs are solo piano with an instrument on site. I offer no liability concerns and therefor to not provide insurance coverage.
Blues tinged jazz weighted with a strong pop music sensibility.
I rarely play equipment gigs so I am at the event a minimum of 15 minutes prior to commencement. If I do work an equipment gig I need an hour prior to the event.
