The business actually began back in 1981 with roasting a pig over an open fire in the back yard for a class reunion. Word of mouth spread of how delicious the meat was and it was quite a conversation piece. In 1999 our catering boomed, and blossomed into a banquet facility where we could catering and host beautiful weddings and events. Today we are proud to offer 2 separate ballrooms, complete with handicap-accessible restrooms, a lovely gazebo for outdoor ceremonies, and full-service catering, all at an affordable cost! We are a 3rd generation family farm expanding into the world of weddings and being a private venue for you and your loved ones to join together and celebrate. Maple Lane Retreat sits on 3.5 acres surrounded by farmland. The newly renovated horse arena provides 6,000 sq. ft. of space for events of all sizes large and small. Attached to the barn is a 1,800 sq. ft. patio that overlooks a 3/4 acre pond with color changing water fountain.

Freshwater Farms of Ohio is the largest indoor fish hatchery in the state of Ohio and the home of the Ohio Fish & Shrimp Festival. For more than three decades, we have been extending a warm welcome to visitors at our farm. Exploring our farm is fun for all ages and completely free. During your visit, make sure to stop by our Sturgeon Petting Zoo. There you can get close and personal with rare and endangered fish species. Engage in the exhilarating Trout Feeding Frenzy and watch them splash in excitement as you feed them by hand.
