I’m Schantel, owner of Maxine Baked. I’m a wife, daughter, sister, friend, and baking enthusiast. My love for cake is homegrown through countless hours spent working side by side, in the kitchen, with my grandmother. Grammie Maxine, keeper of my family, was and remains my biggest influence. She was a woman who took absolute pleasure in preparing homemade meals and desserts for her family. Her baking in particular, was always from scratch and made with the utmost love and care. Over the past few years, baking has worked its way through my heart.

With the pandemic we saw a lot of people change their wedding plans to micro weddings, backyard weddings, and elopements. Though the reason for these changes came from public health concerns, I think there has been a shift in how we look at weddings. There is something so beautiful about the intimacy of the closest of family and friends gathered at your home or on the beach. I adore documenting these gatherings and it is a privilege to be a part of.
